I didn't watch this video but I did see another article about 3 months ago about these 2 guys in Australia that currently use this technology to power their house and then some. The magnet rotates because of perputual motion using the positive and negative poles to rotate continually around each other. You would just need to start it. After it starts it's done. Might be a dumb down way of explaining it, but science is not my forte.

This is what you need: Two magnets pointing opposite poles at each other. Place a metal loop or bar in between the two magnets (think a coathanger but sqaure/rectangle in shape, and thicker/better conducter of electricity). You also need a battery (car battery would work). Connect the "coat hanger" to the battery (you're inducing a current in the wire), and place it between the magnets. Because of the opposite poles, the "coathanger" would begin to rotate due to the magnetic field it is placed in (perpendicular to direction of current). This coathanger would need to be added to a shaft of some sort and this is essentially a the basis for a generator. But instead of using the rotational torque of a combustion engine, you're using (really big/heavy) magnets, a battery, and and the "coathanger."

Definitely possible, definitely not "free." Magnets would have to be monsters and the batteries would be drained quickly. (Plus the "coathanger" material would be very expensive)

The engine I saw was about 3 feet long and about 1 foot wide. There are no batteries in this thing. It self propelling. Hey I found the link.

0:55 "Kickstarted by a battery..." They've apparently found a way to keep the current in the wire either by its composition or insulation (the insulation would be thermal and not electric as escaping heat from the wire actually reduces the amount current circulating and destroys the wire). Interesting.

          Nice find.

I can see all kinds of governmental objections. All based on "job" protection, this like any other invention that simplifies demand always have MASSIVE ramifications.

transformers/lines/poles/service/repair/billing/generation from coal and hydro all of the jobs connected. This would be more catastrophic in economic fallout than even our current recession.

I love the idea of this invention and would buy one tomorrow, however I see some MAJOR obstacles.

I cant remember the technology but there has been road patching technology that patches potholes and cracks that actually last for something like 10+ years. It is NEVER used even though it exists... Job sustainability....

Apparently they use neither method on roads in Cleveland.

So which Auto MFG. or Oil Co. will buy up this technology and shelf it.

nothings ever free in a real thermodynamic system. it is easy to induce current in a wire, so the theory may well stand. given friction and other energy losses, this isn't as viable (at least at this time) as it seems. however, that is not to say that this has to be a standalone system. even current hybrids use the brakes to generate voltage to charge the batteries.

interesting idea to say the least.

The video of the 'independent' electrical engineer wasn't a start? The fact that everyone who's looked at it with a degree in engineering, physics, etc., has concluded that the theory & mechanics of the unit are sound?

I'm just waiting on seeing some real-world application video.

Yes, and like I said previously, the unit is kickstarted with a battery, but they've found a way to either use a wire of a certain composition that will not deteriorate due to thermal kinetic energy loss or they've insulated the wire with a special material that prevents the energy loss yet allows the current to be manipulated by the magnetic field.

Although I'm not sure what you mean by this, nor what it has to do with the machine:

it is easy to induce current in a wire, so the theory may well stand.
Go flip your light switch if you need to test said theory.

nothings ever free in a real thermodynamic system. it is easy to induce current in a wire, so the theory may well stand. given friction and other energy losses, this isn't as viable (at least at this time) as it seems. however, that is not to say that this has to be a standalone system. even current hybrids use the brakes to generate voltage to charge the batteries.

interesting idea to say the least.

Hey Legacy. Would it be easy to make a device like this, you seem to know your science shit. They said they are going to sell it for $5000. I'd buy it in a second.

Well, with a detailed schematic from this guy and all of the materials/components available, I would it'd be pretty easy to assemble assuming you're handy with a soldering gun (and you've got a background in this stuff). Meaning like it's probably similar to assembling a kit car engine with all of the parts machined, etc. ready to be installed.

If you've got to go turn a lathe to mill a shaft or two, mill the rest of the parts from scratch, then things get complicated.
