According to what I have read, he had three pills on him ... One adderall and two prescription pills.

Quick google revealed it depends on what the other two pills are...

If they are Schedule 1 or 2 narcotics (OxyContin or such) then yeah, felony charges with up to four years apply for anything up to 50 grams total weight... about 0.11 pounds or just under 2 ounces.

One thing that totally surprised me. Even if you obtained them under your valid prescription, you still can be in violation if your script has expired.

Really? Well I'm still hanging on to some older stuff because if you have ever had a kidney stone, then you know you better have an emergency painkiller on hand. On the 1-10 scale I used to rate the time I dislocated my ankle when I broke my leg as my 10. Now it's a 7 after I added kidney stone as my new 10. Now I understand what a screwdriver to the side feels like when you twist it around some for 2-3 hours.

Yes, we have Draconian drug laws in this country....and in private matters.

Josh Gordon has second hand weed and a beer.......loses a year of his career.

This guy has an adderall and a couple of oxycodon pills in his possession.

I mean, its not like he was freeking Boyd Crowder.

Honestly?.....a felony charge for 2 pills?.....seems ridiculous.....wonder if the guns being in the same car with the drugs adds to it?

  • According to what I have read, he had three pills on him ... One adderall and two prescription pills.

He had the gun, but it must have registered to him if he wasn't charged for it.

It's not like we are dealing America's Most Wanted here unless there is something I am missing that hasn't come out yet.

Three pills and you are charged with a federal felony? Something seems missing.

Or slipped them in the ash tray, or anywhere in the center console..

The "Drug War" is more of a giveaway to the police/prison guard unions than anything else.

I was on a grand jury in Baltimore County [not City.. County is actually incredibly well-staffed and one of the model orgs for the nation and world] a couple years back.. I saw every case that the DA finished for a 6-month period. 50% by volume of their cases were drug possession.. it's absolutely pitiful.

[[ And when you think it's not a socioeconomic issue, look at the words used to describe middle-upper class kids caught with heroin recently. "These are kids with futures. We're trying to help them." OK, Bubba. ]]

Possession while black seems to carry a higher punishment.

I agree. Somehow I also have a hard time imagining any combo of drugs, guns & a past history as signs of innocence OR intelligence.

  • You can't ignore character anymore in the draft, or signing free agents.

I'm not talking about giving a guy a second chance, depending on what he

    did the first time...

but losers who end up in the clink, embarrass the team, etc etc etc....

what a waste of time. No, not talking about "choir boys" that's stupid.

But seriously, teams have to start looking at character, at least to the point of

"will this guy stay out of trouble in his life after we draft/sign him, and stay on the field

    and in practices?"

and, these asses make millions, and they cruise the streets with illegal weapons, and drugs,

    and go ghetto anyways?

You can't make no or low character schmucks have character. If a player loves the game,

he won't be doing stupid ass crap that will destroy his chances of having a nice career in the game.

Well, then you need to have guys with at least enough character to stay

on the freaking football field, and not suspended for months or the entire year...

in or out of the courtroom.

Or, you just fook yourself with drafting players who screw up their lives, and your team.

I want hard working jocks.....real athletes that love the game.....Obviously no one is gonna win anything if they have to rely on the Manziel - Gordon and Armonty types....period....

I decided to take a look back and remember some of our "great character" high draft picks....just for yucks.....and for those that say who cares, as long as they're good.....lets remember together shall we?

1980....my senior year in HS and the year of the Kardiac Kids....we were into it, BIG TIME!.....and we had just drafted the heisman trophy winner Charles White, a flashy RB from USC....who turned out to be a coke addict and bust for the Cleveland Browns....but, hey, at least he was responsible for the creation of the Inner Circle, which counseled NFL addicts....bust numero uno.....

1983....fresh off the disappointment of our Heisman bust(and actually still living it, ala Johnny) we tapped a lightening fast star WR by the name of Ron Brown...except the dude has character issues....and, after declaring and letting us pick him, he opted to go to the Olympics instead and threatened to re-enter the draft the next year.....we traded his rights and never saw a single catch....

1984....this draft was a GREAT one and our first 2 picks were both hard hitting Safeties...we already had Dixon and had just signed Minnifield, so these guys would give us the best backfield in the league....Our first pick was Don Rogers, a total bad ass who stepped right in and played amazing....looked like another Ronny Lott or Kenny Easley in the making....the Browns had scored big time with this guy!!! Except...he got married at the end of his second season and decided doing coke at his wedding was a good idea....and his heart stopped.....dead.... Making him the second player in just 4 years that busted due to Coke....

The Browns must have learned their lesson, because we didnt draft another addict or bad character guy during the remaining years......Now.....fast forward to the NEW Browns......and the excitement of building a new team.....following our 2 #1 overall picks of Tim Couch and Courtney Brown.....

2001....I remember this draft well, as I was in London and searching for a way to watch or hear about the draft...no real internet at the time, so I had to wait....and we pick Gerard Warren...wtf?....but, he was a lazy fat f*ck and, almost immediately, got busted for dope...it was clear we had done it again....pick a low character, non athletic, lazy, pot head....he never did shit and was gone in 4...

2002...thats right, the NEXT year, we picked a running back by the name of William Green.....this guy flashed some, but man, the Browns blew it sooooooooooooo bad, it's not even funny....First of all, the guy had Crohns Disease. And it would flare up when he was excited...like on game day?....I remember him being too sick to play and watching him puke on the sideline, before running in to carry the ball....but wait! there's more!....didnt take too long for him to get busted for dui and pot. He was SO wasted that he had lost his shoes and didnt know where they were.....but wait! there's more!!....next thing you know, he's in the news for being wasted and fighting with his girlfriend, who actually stabbed him!!!....hahaha....sound almost familiar??....he was gone too......

2004....Just 2 years later, thats right, we're talking 3 out of 4 years.....plus the fact that Couch & Brown were looking pretty bad by now....I remember this draft well, because Ohio U QB Ben Rothlesberger was there and creating a stir and it looked like we needed one. But instead, we picked the big mouthed cock sucker Kellen Winslow, fresh of his outrageous comments about being a soldier, yada yada yada. So, what does he do? Apparently, he does tricks and wheelies on his motor cycle....except not well....so, in the end, we get a loud mouth asshole who's hurt the whole time, then leaves...character character character....

Now.....we did go a few years before....

2012....Where we tapped star WR Josh Gordon in the supplemental draft....why was he there, you ask?.....oh, just because he had been busted 3 or 4 times in college for drugs AND thrown off both his teams.....thats all. But HEY....he'll straighten out now that he's in the Pros.....and he was a bargain with the 33rd pick.....ha....fast forward 4 freaking years, and yeah, we got 1 good season....yay!

    2014....sigh....by now Im too tired.....so two words.....Manziel & Gilbert......nuff said....

So....for anyone who's too young to remember or has forgotten.....^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^^^^^^^^ is why we react the way we do to Johnny and his "minor little indiscretions" or JG "just smokin a lil weed" or say we dont like low character guys.....

    Thats all....out!

Im not aware of any character or drug issues with Duke, Winn or Benji.....plus Winn was a 6th....Crow was udfa....

So...hey, Ill take a waiver on a guy in the 6th....7th...udfa....ala Armonty.....but we can see were that got us....
