Trump won by 70,000 votes and won all 50 delegates.

I think he's by far the best Republican candidate - for several reasons, though I'm not traditionally a "conservative" I can't deal with these Bible thumpers, flat taxers, Medicare cutting, corrupt guys.

I pick Trump over Clinton no brainer.

So it really is a paraphrase to make the situation seem harsh. Where do you disagree on any of those statements?

I'm no lover of Trump but for Christ's sake can't the opponent's attack him for something he actually said?

Also keep in mind when you talk religious right you're basically talking Protestant evangelists. Never Big followers of the Pope. Neither are most of the lefties who are now defending him. Pretty weird.

That being said I'm concerned but it looks like he's going to be the nominee. I don't want him to be President unless it's a choice between him and Bernie or Hillary.

It's high time for the Republican Party to jump on board and start getting a support team together. Since I'm positive he doesn't know jack shit about politics the cabinet and advisors are going to have to drive this train. But that's nothing new.

Trump may not be the best bible thumper in the race but he is probably the best panderer to bible thumping in the field. As he goes into the deep south and asks the crowd what is the best book ever written he holds up a bible and says (paraphrasing) the bible is even better than *the Art of the Deal". When asked about his favorite verse in the bible he cherishes he doesn't have (know?) one. When pandering at a bible college he reads off of (2) Corinthians a term that only a person who is absolutely clueless about the bible would say. (Note to Trump: Acts is the New Testament, right after the four Gospels. It’s about the dramatic advance of Christianity against many obstacles; it’s a book for winners! And with 28 chapters, it’s much bigger than Second Corinthians. It’s huuuge!)

Trump thought it was disgraceful for the pope to question another person's faith yet Trump himself did it not only with Cruz but also Ben Carson:

"Consider Trump’s crafty contrast of his (self-professed) Presbyterianism with Ben Carson’s Seventh-day Adventism. At a rally in Florida last October, Trump said: “I’m Presbyterian. Boy, that’s down the middle of the road, folks, in all fairness. I mean, Seventh-day Adventist, I don’t know about. I just don’t know about.”

Trump’s thinly-veiled bigotry was obvious. He was not suggesting he needed to read the Wikipedia page about Seventh-day Adventism. His point was that Presbyterians are good, mainstream Americans, and his GOP rival’s Seventh-day Adventists are not.

But when Trump was asked whether he would apologize for the remarks, he said “I would certainly give an apology if I said something bad about it. But I didn’t. All I said was I don’t know about it. Right. While feigning Christian devotion, Trump has become a religious demagogue of truly biblical proportions."

        Donald J. Trump ✔ ‎@realDonaldTrump

How can Ted Cruz be an Evangelical Christian when he lies so much and is so dishonest?

        7:03 AM - 12 Feb 2016

Trump claimed that Cruz’s campaign’s tactics in Iowa exposed him as a religious hypocrite: “You can’t lie and then hold up the bible, OK?” Trump told John Dickerson. “He consistently lies. What he did to Ben Carson was a disgrace. What he did with the voter violation form — which is a fraud — is a disgrace. And you can’t do that. You can’t hold up all of these values and hold up the bible and then lie.”

So if Trump asserts that “no leader… should have the right to question another man’s religion or faith,” is that a tacit admission that he’s a hypocrite, or just not “leader” material?

As a moderate liberal, here's my argument for voting Trump in the primary. The GOPe candidates actually believe the crap they spout off about social issues. The thought of Cruz or Rubio being elected makes real the possibility of Roe v Wade getting turned over if they're allowed to appoint 2-3 justices. With Trump, I doubt he believes half of the shit he says, and has been masterful at pandering to the conservative base so far. That said, he's already defended planned parenthood, and I'd expect any justices that he appoints to be more moderate than those that Rubio, Kasich, or Cruz would appoint.

Eh, I don't think I was really paraphrasing much. He outright said the Bush administration lied. The whole second half of his letter to the pope is him suggesting that the pope is inept without actually saying it. And he actually defended the existence of PP on a GOP debate stage in South Carolina. I agree with what he's said on those issues, short of being pro-choice. I don't like his baby boomer views on the Apple iPhone backdoor situation; he's demonstrated time and time again his understanding of encryption, the internet, and technology in general is not much better than Ted Stevens, and that's what scares me the most about him.

Still, Trump is the best choice of the GOP nominees, and that's why I'm voting for him in the primary. Ted Cruz is full Tea Party and Marco Rubio wants a ground war in Iraq. No thanks. Ideologically, I'm most closely aligned with Bernie, but the guy's got no chance of winning the nomination, let alone a general election.

Agree my biggest issue with Trump is his stance in net neutrality and the encryption stuff.

But Hillary says the same things.

Trump is pretty much center-right/left on most issues. Like legalizing medical marijuana and allowing States to decide on recreational (rather than the krispy kreme or Fiorina approach of enforcing federal law in colorado), doesn't seem to wanna overturn the supreme court on roe v Wade or gay marriage, liberal health care and VA plan, etc.

Even the wall was on the Democrat platform not too long ago, though the mass deportation and not allowing anchor babies would be further to the right.

The problem is that his statements on Muslims and Mexicans have caused a lot of liberals to write him off as a crazy racist. I can't even have this kind of conversation with my classmates because their brains immediately shut off and stop listening once his name is brought up.

Good chance he is a crazy racist. There is a lot about Trump that should scare people. He strikes me as more dictatorial than someone who's gonna bring people together to get things done. So Id be watching who he's using for advice and who would surround him in Washington, though I doubt he's actually willing to take any advice....which is the scary part.

He says he's a deal maker, but theres not much truth in that. He's a builder, basically. So, there are not really many deals getting done in his line of work....and if you check the history of his "amazing" success, you will many many monumental failures.....many....Trump Unversity, which lasted 2 years and is now being sued for fraud....Trump Airlines lasted 3 years before it went bankrupt(and screwed a LOT of people).....Trump Magazine, gone in 2 years.....Trump Mortgage died in ONE year(great with money, eh?)....Trump Travel, less than a year......Trump Vodka?...gone........Trump Casinos have only filed for bankruptcy 4 times.....and all of these companies were basically Trump dictatorships, not joint ventures or businesses that "made deals" with other businesses....just Trump being Trump....and if it doesnt work, oh well....

So....yeah....he's not part of the establishment, which is good.....he's not on the take, which is good....but is he the right guy to lead a nation that requires cooperation and an understanding of politics and how Washington works?.....hmmmmm

There's a difference between being a racist and appealing to racists. Jingoistic and nationalistic? Absolutely, but nothing Trump has said is actually racist.

He says he's a deal maker, but theres not much truth in that. He's a builder, basically. Yet he's still a billionaire. People bring up his bankruptcies as if they're a bad thing. With all the projects he's been a part of, some of them are going to fail, and that much is going to be true for just about everyone with a lot of money. Bankruptcy is what you use to protect the rest of your assets if a business venture fails, and Trump successfully used that to protect the rest of his assets. It's funny, the people on reddit called 50 cent a genius for declaring bankruptcy, but when Trump does it, apparently it means he has no business acumen.

So....yeah....he's not part of the establishment, which is good.....he's not on the take, which is good....but is he the right guy to lead a nation that requires cooperation and an understanding of politics and how Washington works?.....hmmmmm

You don't own a billion dollar corporation without being good at working with others to get deals done.

I'm all in for Trump. Some say he's a racists oh well it's about time someone has the nards to speak in answers rather than trying to be politically correct in case of stepping on toes.

If anyone on earth can get our trillion dollar debt knocked down its Trump. He's all about America something we need.

Unfortunately it's hard to force some folks to accept the difference between being opposed to illegal immigration and widespread terrorism and racism. People are stupid.

I completely disagree....great business people dont file bankruptcy over 20 times and fail in 90% of their ventures. Trump would have failed 100%, but the banks bailed him out because they couldnt afford the hit....do the research. He'll tell you that he started with $1m and built an empire, but the truth is that he inherited $200m AND his fathers uber successfull building business and real estate portfolio...which, in 15 years, he ran down until they were mired in $8 billion of debt....he then has systematically sold off those holdings, acquiring more wealth......had he just invested the $200m and sold those holding when he had them, and NOT done all his great business deals....he'd be worth over $50 billion, instead of 4.....so, its all out there....he has taken a fortune and turned into unmanageable debt time and time again.....

Ha!.....or he could bankrupt the whole country....we shall see,,,,,he's never knocked any debt before, except in bankruptcy court....but, I will grant you, he IS very good at that

On a selfish level, Trump might be the best choice for my career long term. But that is assuming the country doesn't implode while he's in office. Or if he just destroys international relations. Or anyhing like that.

Clinton is a "safer" candidate, but the more I see of her the less I like. I'm not caught up in the email thing either, like others that are blowing it out of proportion.

When Bush and Cheney were in office, hundreds of thousands of people were killed to line the pockets of Halliburton under false pretenses. If Trump does more diplomatic damage than Cheney, I'll eat a shoe.

As usual....all the choices are crap....so, if you're voting, you'll be choosing somebody with major flaws....thats for sure....

Just gotta decide who "really" has your better interest at heart and will work to actually fix the mess we are in....

Of course, that's if you care about economics and how this country works.....but if you're only worried about their position on national security, immigrants, guns, or abortion and dont care about anything else(like unemployment, jobs, taxes, corruption) then choose your poison....the choices are clear and easy.....

To be honest, the biggest reason I want to see Trump win is to see how things shake out. Can you imagine the ramifications to the agrarian economy if he deported 11 million illegals? The prices of produce would skyrocket, and the fallout would be entertaining to say the least. He's pissing off both the GOP and Democrats, Fox News and Huffington Post. Get your popcorn ready because his first 100 days are going to be the media's wet dream.
