  • My choice wasn't in the poll. Flawed.

Can somebody tell me why it would be necessary to wait until the third trimester to have a rape baby aborted? Because the majority of you chose that it would be alright to abort a third trimester baby - which in 100% of cases is tantamount to cutting the living limbs off a human baby, crushing it's functional skull and ripping it from the womb - if it were a rape baby.

It seems there are some woman who don't realize they are pregnant and if they were at the doctor for something else at 27 weeks and were told they were having their dads baby I wouldn't want them to be criminals for wanting to terminate. Also if you had an issue where a woman is kidnapped, held hostage, raped and then gets free in week 27 I wouldn't want her jailed either for termination. I think we all would like to be objective about this. I would not support "I decided to keep Uncle John's baby until he went back to Mom" third trimester abortions, but for a credible reason I would not want to see a woman go to jail. Again we put a good amount of faith in the medical community and the hope is without stigma and with informed consultation the right decisions are made.

Horseshit. If you miss 6 periods in a row and you don't know you're pregnant they should abort YOU

  • Cysko, so she constantly screws around and finds out she's pregnant.

Assumes baby daddy will marry her.

Turns out that ain't the case and he bails after a back and forth of a few months.

What kind of stupid ass inane response is this? If you have an IUD you won't become pregnant.

    They're not 100% effective.

  • With a failure rate of about 0.2% I'm willing to take that chance. you know what's 100% effective? Not having sex. So if you're engaging in risky behavior you're going to have to accept some consequences. Aborting a six months developed fetus is not acceptable.

2 in a thousand. Yep, I'm pretty safe for at least the next couple of years at that rate. But, there are 300,000,000 people in the US. Let's take a wild swing and say a third are of child bearing age (give or take a few tens of millions, it's unimportant), so 100,000,000. Let's say that on average - between happily married couples to singletons, to swingers, people are having sex on average twice per month. Pretty conservative. So, that's 50,000,000 women, having sex twice a month, 100,000,000 'opportunities for failure'. So you take your 0.2%, apply it liberally to that, and you get about 200,000 unplanned pregnancies per month.

So yes, personally I'm willing to take that chance, but remain aware that my gf might end up with a mini-gft in the tummy. Should that happen, I don't know how I/we would react, but I would not rule out an abortion, assuming we find out early enough (pre-20 weeks ish).

In terms of a third term abortion, I would not go anywhere near it, except if the life of my partner were at risk. At that point if you don't want the baby, just give it up for adoption - it's going to come out regardless, dead or alive, so no point killing it first. I suspect most people are the same, and that's reflected in the current laws in most developed countries.

  • I'm all for getting rid of the mini GFT. Only. 😉

Honestly I don't know if I'd ever have kids. I'm 30 now, so probably should make that decision in the next five years or so, but still, not sure either way.

  • Back in the day people usually had kids in their twenties. You would see grandparents in their mid forties. Now you have people having kids in their 40's. By the time the kid graduates from HS the parents will be in their 60's

    This is true.

And they have been known to break free. Sure you'd think the chick would realize it has broken loose but they is not always the case.

  • My senior design project revolved around IUDs. I know more now than I ever wanted to...
