Will you be prepared for ..when..an Obamao-inspired national crisis hits?

definitely board up your windows, they always try to come in if they can hear you. They don't seem to be able to climb very well so a treehouse might be a decent bet.
Sounds more like my ex girlfriends than zombies...

forget the zombies you comedic twits. lol.
suppose there was a successful attack on our grid?
no electricity. what would you do? rub two pencils together?
(those sticks would be too soggy in the London Fog, Chris
)crime from the inner cities floods to the suburbs. No electricity, no running water.
Many can't cook, or heat. or air condition. traffic jams, could be that way for weeks.
Break-ins, security systems don't work.
Got flashlights? bottled water? gun? fireplace? wood? (or a thousand handwarmer packets...) food?
I don't see the gov just making it all okay in 24 hrs like when a snowstorm drops a power line on a street, ...right?
Just interesting to think about. It's a lot about "self-reliance", and not depending on everything going just fine
forever.

Now that, Im ready for.....Id pack my guns and all the canned goods I have and head for my cabin. Very secluded and only 40 minutes from home and, since I live in the boonies already, Id have advance warning before they even got to my house. Already very used to long stays there, with no electric, water, etc.....so it would be what I always do anyway. Fresh fish, clean water, deer, turkey, grouse, wood burner, solar lanterns, etc. Would be a nice vacation and, since Im a gun nut, I would be armed to the teeth and ready to defend my homestead. Also, in the heart of Amish country, so the locals wouldnt have any need to bother me and might even offer some needed supplies. I say...bring it on...

well, we have plenty of survival food stores if we had to bug out. If it was a grid shutdown, we have
a little generator for certain things. It wouldn't run the furnace, but we can heat our home with our fireplace,
and the generator would run the fan for efficiency. I'd like to add a solar battery backup for that fan.
We are all electric, but we could still cook over our firepit, have dutch ovens, etc. I love that. Ever had
pineapple upside down cake done in a dutch oven? oh, that is good stuff. Or, a beef roast with veggies?
But if we had to bug out, we could load up our stuff and get out. Different places we would be welcomed in
different states. More likely a caravan of friends going different places.
Or, maybe we'll all just have to run the open border to Canada. Wait, obaMao isn't their leader. dammit.

My doomsday prep is quite Spartan:
- One Glock G21SF pistol
- One .45 caliber bullet, loaded into the chamber of said pistol
- One forehead, to place above mentioned pistol against and pull the trigger if/when shit hits the fan.
I'm a firm believer in the quality of life dictating the duration of life. If shit gets so bad that we're living in some nuclear winter - induced Stone Age, then no thank you, I will be going out on my own terms.

Have you guys seen a show called The Island? Basic premise - take a bunch of people who have no real survival knowledge, give them a bit of basic training - how to start a fire, build some rudimentary shelter, find a water supply, trap/hunt - and then left on a tropical desert island for a month, with a couple of machetes and a jerry can of water.
It's good fun.

I'm a firm believer that it'll all be fine. I live in London anyway, so when the shit hits the fan, I'll be covered in metaphorical faeces anyway, so quality of life won't be an issue.

Also, never a bad time to share this

I ain't got no british nothin. I'm a modern day Swamp Fox - hell with the redcoats.

I already live so far out in the country that barring total fallout style nuclear annihilation or a "the stand" style plague id be pretty much fine hunting the deer and gardening for quite some time.

For the most part, our garden and woods, and the neighbors fishing ponds
would take care of us and our neighbor friends.
Except I figure there would be plenty of trespassers and poachers....
I think I
want a .22 backup pistol for hiking. If you got stranded out somewhere a bit remote,
you don't need a 1911 to shoot a squirrel for supper.......
