One of my daughters loves 'em...The other calls 'em "The travelling hillbillies". Obviously I thought, and still think, they were great.

I'm surprised The Eagles didn't make anyone's list so far.

Speaking of The Eagles, their guitarist Don Felder taught Tom Petty how to play.

  • can't believe i agree with a lot of these selections. my friends call my music crap.

    genesis - seconds out

    billy idol - rebel yell

    pink floyd - animals

    camel - breathless

    tool - aenima

love the brian eno pick. love seger. hell i coulda added 20 more to the list but off the top of my head.......

  • Alison Krauss's singing, and the Union Station bluegrass... fascinates me. It's just so beautiful.

But here, she sings ...alto? backup to Shania Twain.

I believe she can make magic of any song. Note - it's a long video, of interviews with friends and herself...

I would pay huge bucks to see her in concert, and I'd love to see Steve sing a duet with her some day.....

  • Bowie - Hunky Dory

James Gang - James Gang Rides again

Yes - Close to the Edge

more later... I'll try to keep it to only 2 more...

  • The reason for my fav being Speak of the Devil -ozzy

Brad Gillis is one of my fav guitarist. I met him at a show he was putting on in Litchfield, Il. Night Ranger was playing and this is when they were playing smaller venues as opposed to bigger places they used to. Everyone knew Brad as the talented guitarist for Night Ranger but didn't know that he played for Ozzy when Randy Rhoads passed away in March of '82.

Speak of the Devil was recorded in Nov. of '82. Ozzy owed the record company two records. It was a live double album. They recorded live at the Ritz at an empty venue. Three songs had crowd noise dubbed in to have the album appear more live. Crazy.

I talked to Brad and have the utmost respect for his versatile talents. Great album.

I have one of the Gillis Ozzy shows around here on DVD. He didn't do many.. But he did well.. I also have a Jeff Watson solo cd that is freaking terrible..

  • I'm just loving bluegrass. I found my album, with Alison Krauss and the Union Station,

    on youtube.

To me, the music moves me, I love the complexity of the different instruments making

music, and Alison singing. And, their music that makes the movie

"Oh, Brother, Where Art Thou" so perfect in the soundtrack.

  • my next album to find somewhere:

Alison Krauss is magic to music.

  • Jimi Hendrix - Electric Ladyland

It was such a ground breaking masterpiece in terms of writing style, the different variety of music. And the technical break through in recording techniques by both Jimi and Eddie Kramer.

    Aja - Steeley Dan

Not only is the music and the songs are great.. But I thought Gary Katz did a great job mixing and EQueing that record.

    Hughes / Thrall.

Glenn Hughes and Pat Thrall (Pat Travers) put out a collaboration album in 1982. It was just brilliant from the songwriting and the Music.. it had that Grand canyon sound to it. it was brilliantly engineered. Sadly. Promoters and the like didnt do enough to push the record at the time.. Which to Me is a travesty. its a well crafted album and it shouldve made the charts.

Ozzy Osbourne - Speak of the Devil.

I really love Brad Gilli's performance on guitar , on this album. The guitar sound was just absolutely killer. I really believe Mesa Boogie Amplifiers came to the forefront because of that album.. those old boogie simul-class Mark II amps were great.

Dream Theater's Metropolis: Scenes from a Memory.

Just a great album that tells great stories..every musician in this band is tops... And Kevin shirley did a great job engineering it.
