Alight I have some thoughts. If as many people here put it that Obama is trying to create a totalitarian state, why?
It's hard to get through the real reasons on this board because people are only bitching about Republican this Liberal that (me included). Could this be the smokescreen? It works in Congress.
I still believe that there is a higher power here (ONLY ONE theory is the New World Order theory, there are others), and am not suggesting what is right or wrong here. Could this be the start of a one world government?
We get smothered by our personal liberties taken away, people rebel, and the "World" comes to our aid? Just a thought.

When you have a "pres" who has millions of people ignoring the fact that two of his friends,
Ayers and Dorn, are cop killers because Dorn placed the bomb that killed them...
but you have them being very concerned about guns in the hands of private citizens
because some nutjob shot people...
it doesn't take a "conspiracist" to figure something is really wrong.
When the "pres" talks about having a civilian defense corps funded and armed like our military,
but cuts the military, and nobody who voted for Obama can explain what the heyl
we need a civilain brownsh... er... civilian defense corp for....
it doesn't take a worry wart to worry that something's really wrong.

Nobody here hates America ,some just back a different horse and there ideals and rather than focus on right and wrong its PARTY.
I kinda find myself in the middle ,their is good ideas on both sides but each party on its own cant do a damn thing right so you need the balance,I just wish that indifference wasnt done in such a negative way.

So has there been no other presidents that have tried to ban guns or create a brownshirt type of group? Why is Obama, wait, sorry he's black.

I agree almost completely with Dan, though I'm more right on some issues, but left on others.
Basically, to your actual question, I believe that as fewer and fewer people are asked to support more and more people the majority become more and more dependent on politicians who pretend to be acting in the public interest.
The goal, of course, is to retain power for your particular group of politicians.
That's the goal of any political party, they just use differing methods.
And at the present time Democrats are in the drivers seat and their left wing has more influence than they had before.
But we tend to hyperbolize with terms like facist and totalitarian.

R or D it does not mean a thing to me there are a few good blue blood Dems, I go with the Conservative view and support those politicians who follow the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
I have slammed W many times for being a liberal, he really was not that far to the right as many thought he was. But I never slammed him as much as I have slammed slick willy or Obama. W's last 2 years were his worst, he had to deal with the control from the left in Congress and to get anything passed he had to go along with their spending.
+ I Hate Socialists!
Protecting our National sovereignty means a lot to me and I dont want Obama signing over our country to be ruled by European Socialists.

Our Security just like our Gold is the fact that we are the only Nation to actually use Nukes in war. They dont scare me, Its the Leader of our country who is an empathetic wimp who will turn on Americans.

the only thing that really bothers me about this administration is the reluctance to recognize that capitalism is what made this country. its why we have more money, power, and a higher standard of living than every other country. the freedom to do whatever we want with our wealth is what gave us the opportunity to invest in ourselves and create this land of envy. the thought that we can maintain economic prosperity while feeding, clothing, and housing every human being is naive. i just dont agree with the notion that making everyone suffer just because some do is a good idea.......
furthermore, i adamantly reject the idea that the selfish ones are those that have......its the easy scapegoat. i find it much more selfish for someone to think it right to take from someone else that worked for it....simply because it isn't fair. the entitlement mentality will do nothing more than eliminate charity.....instead, you will be forced to give. there's a reason why we have so much, and it surely isn't because we authorize the gov't to make our decisions. instead, many think its better to drag the whole country down to please the unproductive.....removing wealth that could provide jobs and services to give it to another that produces nothing.
i think, honestly, that obama has simply been absorbed by the gov't machine. just like bush, many of the policy decisions are construed by those in the cabinet, and are done mostly for selfish reasons. there's no better way to garner support to change the system than to destroy the system first. make the very engine that enabled our country out to be the bad guy, then enslave the population willingly.
