Har- now SOME of us saw through the Johnny Football BS- and called a spade a spade. Make that an out of control Party Animal, a out of control Party Animal. But there were plenty of on field doubts.
You may now officially congratulate me for being dead right.
FWIW- I would happily have taken Goff- or Wentz. Remains to be seen if the new FO guessed right.
-
plenty of people loved the manziel pick. plenty didn't, including me.
if you are going to stand here and ask people to stand up and be accounted for for every pick that people fell in love with and then turned to shit...... you'll be standing for a long time.
now tell me you didn't call holmgren the messiah?
HA!!!!!
-
Everybody is wrong here and there, and I imagine most of us would
have done better drafting for the Browns than the coaches of the past.
No more. I argued against the jm pick the entire time, argued against Goff, wanted Wentz, etc.
Being wrong is common - look at how many busts happen around the league.
Being right once in a while isn't all that chest-thumping...imho

The jury is still out on Manziel. Actually I'm not even sure if they picked it yet.

Messiah or Vampire? How many times did anyone see Holmgren before sundown?
If the board was meant for everybody to compete with God in seeing the future - we're all in the wrong place. Being a fan of this team since childhood says we're all willing to be wrong a lot more than just once.
-
Hey Flugel. There's a chance I might just make it to a Browns game this year. If I do...are you at the tailgates? I could stop in and meet ya maybe enjoy an Oldules.

Still being a fan since for some of us gives us a second chance to be wrong again.

This year my bet stays with the should have been Browns RB, Derrick Henry. I think he will prove to be more valuable to Tenn. than anyone we took before they chose him. And none of our current RB's will prove out better.

Unfortunately, the only tailgate I'll be at this year is the one in Nashville. You might want to try to go to the Dallas if you want to meet a lot of the guys on this board. You seem like you'd be a great fit with your sense of humor and passion for the team.

Precisely to your first sentence above! The Cavs have reminded us that if you put the right support around your designated leader - maybe that leader doesn't need to leave town to win a championship after all? Otto Graham never had to leave town to win 7 Pro Football Championships.
The Browns already went the Alabama RB route trading up from #4 to #3 overall and got praised for doing so by every football draft analyst pre-hindsight 20/20. When Crow was a rookie in the first half of the season - he averaged between 5.2 and 5.4 yards per carry here. That's not exactly slam dunking need help here first especially when Duke Johnson is the alternative.
Are any of the recent Bama RBs distinguishing themselves as an Adrian Peterson? Ingram and Yeldon are impressive enough to get committee reps while Henry got drafted by the team that already put FA cake into DeMarco Murray. We need bigger help at WR and landed Coleman who scored 20 TDs while adding a first round draft pick in 2017 from moving back to draft Coleman. What's so sky is falling about adding a WR who scored 20 TDs plus a 1st round pick in 2017?

Murray was made by the Dallas Oline. He was horrible at Philly in comparison. He is also very small in comparison to Henry who will prove to be the better pass blocker for Mariota. Henry is NOT the typical Bama back. But will Coleman be another Baylor WR for us? Sure haven't seen much of our previous one on the field. See what happens when you try to categorize a player based on past experience with a same position player you had from the same school? LOL!

Tex,
Here are Josh Gordon's Baylor stats for you...

Pot smoking & failure to remain part of the Team? JG in a landslide!

Speaking of
- this might be a good time to inform you Gordon got thrown out of Baylor. His last college team was Utah. Gordon suited up just as many times for Cleveland in 2015 as he did for Utah. I'd rather discuss WRs that didn't put their Baylor scholarships "Up in Smoke." There's a couple doing pretty good like Kendall Wright for TN, when healthy, and Terrence Williams for Dallas. They're actually wearing an NFL uniform on Sundays.I don't think Henry will be a bad player per say; but the context you selected was he'll be better than anything we drafted ahead of him. I'm reminding you that in moving back to select Corey Coleman the Browns also picked up a 3rd round pick in this year's draft and a second round pick in next year's draft. That's 3 guys right?
BTW, Crowell was the Freshman of the Year in the SEC when he ran the ball for GA. As I said, he averaged between 5.2 and 5.4 yards per carry in the first half of his rookie year here. With Crow and Duke, RB didn't need to be upgraded nearly as much as WR.
I live in TN and listen to their radio show daily. Their offensive line has been atrocious. Remember how bad we were at sacking QBs last year? Do you remember how many we got against TN? I've seen a lot of Henry living only 60-65 North of the Bama border. They're on tv every week and I rarely see the SEC challenging Bama to get a good enough read on if it's him being terrific or if it's just him DeMarco Murraying himself (as you put it above) behind a line that outclasses every opponent every week. When that unfolds, it can mask some imperfections of a RB - like running straight up with a sloppy pad height. We've seen it for a while now. Jax drafted Yeldon; but they don't seem satisfied. We drafted Richardson; who's on his 4th team already. Ingram has been the most successful RB from that program in recent years but his rock quarry for hands limits him and his reps some. It also took Ingram a while to emerge. No superstars.
Me thinks ever since Johnny Manziel chose partying over football - you seem like you don't want any of our other first round draft picks to succeed either. You're already cornering yourself into hoping you're right about Henry being better than anything we got before him. It's not Corey Coleman's fault that Manziel and his best friend (Gordon) would rather party than play pro football.

Sorry but you are wrong. I've liked Henry well before JM screwed this up. And last year my favorite player I hoped we would get was Kansas State's WR Tyler Lockett who has done well for Seattle. I don't hate our picks and I do hope they do well. It's just that I thought Henry could improve our running game to control the ball like we say we want to do better than anyone we have on the roster and provide that extra blocker in the backfield that everyone was running over to get to our QB last year.

Avoiding your own context again. You said Henry was going to be better than anything we got before him. We received Corey Coleman + a 3rd round pick this year + a 2nd round pick next year from moving back to draft Coleman. It's more than 1 player.
I had nothing to do with why Henry wasn't drafted in round 1. I can only hold you to your comment that a guy sharing reps with DeMarco Murray is way better than trading back for Coleman plus the 2 players we're getting for doing so.
