Earlier on Wednesday, Robert Draper of The New York Times Magazine reported that Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr. had reached out to a Kasich adviser to see whether the governor had any interest in the post. Trump Jr. explained that the businessman’s vice president will be the point person on policy — foreign and domestic.

According to Draper, the Kasich adviser inquired what Trump would manage. “Making America great again,” Trump Jr. reportedly replied.

    I love that last part...
    Here's Trump's denial tweet:
“John Kasich was never asked by me to be V.P. Just arrived in Cleveland - will be a great two days!” Trump tweeted.
Note the use of "by me".

More dirt thrown by Cruz and Kasich. Two men who are extremely bitter about losing to Trump.

Entirely possible that it is not accurate, but it does fit a narrative on Trump as the classic CEO/ Chairman who leaves day-to-day managing to his COO. Frees "the Boss" to pick and chose where he gets involved and at what level.

Also should be clear that Trump is far from the policy wonk that many Presidents are. Nothing to date has hinted at a love of detail on his part.

At any rate the source is clear... a Kasich aid. There will be follow up. We'll see if it goes anywhere...

Well DieHard- just remember what Lincoln said. "A house divided against itself cannot stand." Trump loses Ohio and Texas in November- he's toast. If they don't like him- or his policies- it's a free country, and they can disagree.

FWIW, listening to CNN earlier today- Cruz explained himself. Seems he's still POed that Trump insulted his wife, so the dirt got thrown right back. http://www.chicagotribune.com/news/nationworld/politics/ct-ted-cruz-attacks-donald-trump-20160721-story.html

Not only that- Cruz told Trump he wasn't going to endorse him in his speech- so that's on Trump for letting him speak.

Donald has essentially run a primary campaign of hate, fear, and trashing his opponents. Maybe he can start calling Hillary an ugly bitch while he's at it. He had better start looking more presidential- and fast, or he's gonna lose. After last night- I wish the ticket was reversed.

Yet he still won the nomination. I think a lot of people are in for a shock come November.

Hmmm.... primary voters are probably a different critter than general election voters. FWIW, I voted in a primary for the first time this year in my 40+ years of being eligible to vote- for Kasich. I'm still trying to get it through my head what in the hell primary voters saw in Trump- unless he left a favorable impression on them when the had The Apprentice on TV (never watched a minute of it). This election isn't about how good you look on a reality show. Really- I hope you're right. I'll buy you a drink sometime if Donald wins. One thing for sure- it's going to be the ugliest presidential election since the 1820s. The Hillary mudslinging from the Democratic side has already begun in a major way. The RNC will doubtless return fire.

To add to the RustBelt convo... obviously the other reason an offer to Kasich makes sense is Ohio.

One way or the other that is pretty well guaranteed.

So far I've seen one from each side... an official Hillary ad (with the kids watching Trump's greatest hits) and a SuperPAC ad (?) with Trey Gowdy rapid firing questions at the FBI Director.

Kasich is another Bush. That's why both of them received no votes.

Trump got crowds and new voter registration that no candidate has ever gotten before him

As for crowds and new voters... I can't find pure, new voter data over time. Do you have a source... not named Trump?

He won the state he's a governor of, otherwise he got no votes - speaking hyperbolically.

Idk about GOP registration - he did exceptionally well in open primary states which would indicate at least a surge of non-GoP voters support him.

Kasich has done nothing for Ohio except for driving people to go to Michigan or PA to get an abortion.

                          --

I'm not even close to the GOp, but I'm behind Trump for the stance on TPP mostly - among other things

Kasich is another Bush. That's why both of them received no votes.

Trump got crowds and new voter registration that no candidate has ever gotten before him

Caught a little of the Communist News Network's (CNN) post Trump speech commentary with Anderson Cooper and his liberal cronies. One thing that did strike me- though the black dude didn't come right out and say it- but the inference was pretty clear- comparing Trump to guess who? H###er, not Hillary. Don't think it could happen here in the good old USA- but the parallels to old Adolph are pretty glaring, if you think about it- and have read any history about the Third Reich. BTW- you can cast Obama and Hillary in the roles of Neville Chamberlain on top of it. Those that don't remember the past are doomed to repeat it. & in case you think I'm shooting down The Donald. If Trump = Hitler, then Hillary = Stalin.

🙂 You weren't paying attention. There might have been some small crossover of Dems voting Republican in Ohio- but personally I voted for Kasich because I was in the Never Trump boat. Call it the Favorite Son Factor. Cruz whomped Trump in Texas.

Trump is a nationalist - and the left thinks all nationalists are Hitler.

Now socialism/expanded social programs, insisting we must intervene and spread our values all over the world, and restricting gun rights - that's literally Hitler.

The left is also fond of silencing the opposition through means of violence - sounds pretty fascist.

Actually Hitler was a National Socialist.

The word "Nazi" is an abbreviation for the word "Nationalsozialist". The full name of the political party was the "Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei" - the National Socialist German Worker's Party.Dec 24, 2014
Interesting to note, however, that Hitler and FDR had much in common...
