"But U.S. officials also acknowledge that Iranian negotiators on the prisoner exchange said they wanted the cash to show they had gained something tangible.
Sen. Tom Cotton, a Republican from Arkansas and a fierce foe of the Iran nuclear deal, accused President Barack Obama of paying “a $1.7 billion ransom to the ayatollahs for U.S. hostages.”
“This break with longstanding U.S. policy [not to] put a price on the head of Americans, and has led Iran to continue its illegal seizures” of Americans, he said.
Since the cash shipment, the intelligence arm of the Revolutionary Guard has arrested two more Iranian-Americans. Tehran has also detained dual-nationals from France, Canada and the U.K. in recent months."

WEAKNESS - If I had one word to describe what Obama has done to our standing in the world it is that. He has done nothing but project weakness.
-
If true, that means that Americans abroad will have giant targets on them.
-
-
Well then, I guess that settles that.

"It wasn't paying ransom. The timing of flying that plane filled with loot into Iran at the same time our hostages are released just makes it look that way" LOL

The amazing coincidence we send a plane filled with $400 million in currency at the same time our hostages get released?
I am aware that this money goes back to the Shah of Iran but the timing of sending that plane with the money now is too suspect to believe that it was not given to the Iranians as part of ransom to get the hostages back.
-
Iran advertised it as a ransom.
They were so happy about it they went and arrested two more Americans in Tehran right after they collected the cash.
-
it's just undeniable. I believe Americans should stay home now.
The world is getting to be far too dangerous with Americans being
a target for obamao free dollars for hostages.
-
Reminds me of when Jimmy Carter was President. No one respected him either.
-
There is a federal statute against sending money to Iran.
Even his own injustice dept warned him not to do it.
Money laundering.

That's why they used foreign currencies in cash.

Or, reality:

"For 37 years, the United States and Iran have been dickering at the Hague over the settlement of an arms deal that this country cut with the Shah when he was our boy in that part of the world."

Exactly - your purpose is to parrot rightwing disinformation. Mission accomplished!

Well its not a ransom per se, it'd just money we "owed" them for 40 years that we'll conveniently "give back" in "exchange" for "American prisoners"
