Best Reason for "Never Trump" I have Heard to Date...

  • I don't believe it is the social conservatives like myself who are abandoning Trump right now but the establishment wing of the GOP who want open borders to keep the cheap labor and are for TPP and NAFTA trade deals. They didn't get their candidate elected this time (Jeb Bush) and now they won't support the nominee who did win.

George Bush has been quiet but the recent letter signed by 50 of his former advisers claiming Trump to be unfit was just a dagger into Trump's back and a payback for some of the things Trump has said about Bush IMO.

They would rather have Clinton, who will most likely be a miserable failure as President and then have a shot at the 2020 election.

    Poll shows trump losing

    - "The people that run that poll are biased"

    - "Whatever. He's going to win easily!"

    alright

I haven't said any of those things, but I will bet a nice case of beer on a Trump win

Since The Donald is sure to win in a landslide, how many points do I get? 🙂

Done!!! We're going to need something to shore up our "relationship" by the time November rolls around.

Not that it'll matter, but are you a Shiner Bock fan?

Not particularly, but that's the only Shiner beer I've tried afaik.

I don't know too much about the Texas beer scene, other than it's not nearly as good as Cleveland's.

I guess the new "thing" is to suck Hilary's nuts in one side of your mouth while telling everyone how much you can't stand her out of the other side.

That's pretty much what a lot of Republican voters are doing now with Trump, because #NeverHillary

Poll just came out that nearly two-thirds of Repub's are voting against HRC, wheres only about a third of Dems are voting against Trump.

    @oldbrownsfan said:

...and he is better on the issues I care about. Republicans should think about that instead of not supporting the republican nominee. Supreme court justices come to mind. Trump has promised to nominate constitutional judges to the bench, that should be enough right there alone to get conservatives to vote for Trump.

Translation: Judges whose conclusions I will agree with...

And that's fine, but there are always mitigating factors that prevent you from anticipating how your chosen Judge will vote.

All SCOTUS judges are "constitutional" since their role is defined by the Constitution.

Interestingly part of that role prescribes "activism"....

"The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States... —to Controversies between two or more States;—between a State and Citizens of another State;—between Citizens of different States;..."

Settling controversies between States and a State and citizens of another was the role SCOTUS played in "settling" the abortion and same-sex marriage issues nationwide.

  • You have activist judges who don't follow the constitution in their rulings. I just want judges who follow the constitution and not make law from the bench. Roe v Wade for example was a ruling that had no basis in our constitution and I have read from pro choice lawyers who openly admit that.

Settling controversies between States and a State and citizens of another was the role SCOTUS played in "settling" the abortion and same-sex marriage issues nationwide.

Well at least when states vote on these issues you have millions of citizens involved in making the decision instead of 9 unelected judges deciding for everyone.

    So the bet is on?

Doesn't have to be a Texas beer... but it'd be cool.... and Shiner markets a variety sampler. Some inclusions are seasonal. But plenty of time to pick a poison...

Interesting that you don't know Texas beers, but know Cleveland's are better. Very "Trumpish" stand... 😉

  • I've had my share of Texas beer sir.

It's not in the same league, ZIP code or even time zone with Ohio beer. And unfortunately Ohio beer probably falls short do Oregon or Seattle Beer. It's just a fact territorial loyalty notwithstanding.

    😉

It's on, but I can easily take that stance because Cleveland has the best there is.

California is pretty good too though.

  • If the election were held today, only unfettered deeply sprung gay fanboys such as ed wouldnt acknowledge trump would take a fat dick from hillary.

Its getting to tje point where he'd better have some wikileaks up his sleeve

  • When the reddest of the red states is in play for the democrats (Utah) and normally red states like Georgia and Arizona are now competitive for the dems I think Trump is in serious trouble and not only losing in November but it could be of landslide proportions.

Always thought the basis of Roe was the variability of state laws, but turns out it was not... the foundation for Roe's 7-2 decision was the 14th Amendment, the "personal liberty" amendment.

In a second case, Doe vs. Bolton, a contemporary case of Roe, a Georgia law was also found unconstitutional. In summary the Georgia law:

... permitted abortion only in cases of rape, severe fetal deformity, or the possibility of severe or fatal injury to the mother. Other restrictions included the requirement that the procedure be approved in writing by three physicians and by a three-member special committee that either (1) continued pregnancy would endanger the pregnant woman's life or "seriously and permanently" injure her health; (2) the fetus would "very likely be born with a grave, permanent and irremediable mental or physical defect"; or (3) the pregnancy resulted from rape or incest.[1][2] In addition, only Georgia residents could receive abortions under this statutory scheme: non-residents could not have an abortion in Georgia under any circumstances.

Many "establishment" Repub's are convinced a Trump term would be worse for the party than a HRC term. In part this is based upon their retention of control of the House where they can obstruct HRC with impunity.

Should Trump win it would likely fall upon the Senate Dems to obstruct his agenda with many Congressional Repub's quietly cheering in a cloak room before they condemn the "obstructionists" in front of the TV cameras... thus reducing their chances of being "primaried".

  • I'm just happy to say today I am affiliated with no political party. How many of these politicians of either party put the interests of the country first over their own self interests? Not very many.

.... And some of the things Trump said about every other Republican candidate in the primaries. He ran a scorched earth campaign there- (Cruz, Rubio, Fiorina, Kasich) and I hate to say it, but paybacks are hell Mr. Trump.

In regards to cutting taxes- can't do it without ballooning the National Debt. 45% of households already don't pay any federal income tax. Oh Hillary- time for the richest to "pay their fair share"? Well take that mantra and shove it Mrs. Clinton. The top 20% of income earners in the US pay 86% of income tax. The Dems would love it if they can shove the percentage of people paying no tax over 50%- they'd then have a vote-proof constituency on the Government dole.

I agree with SOME of Trump's policies, but a lot of them won't fly. Building that wall on our southern border is a fantasy in his mind that has zero chance in reality of ever happening.
