think about this Tiam.
Google "50 mph in yards per second"
24.4 yards per second.
Now, divide 24.4 into 300 yards away.
You will get roughly 12.2 something seconds away. at 200 yards, it's a bit over 8 seconds.
Sounds too close now, right?

Stopped right there. We're talking nautical, so... knots. Clearly on water so the surface viscosity and level will not be anywhere near the same as flat ground that you're attempting to compare with.
Also, 50? So... 43ish knots? Riiiiiiiiiiight.

43.4 knot.
But, technically, 43.4 knots still equals out to about 24.4 yards per second.

The knot (/nɒt/) is a unit of speed equal to one nautical mile (1.852 km) per hour, approximately 1.151 mph. The ISO Standard symbol for the knot is kn. The same symbol is preferred by the IEEE; kt is also common.

“What concerns me is our people don’t always have a lot of time to deal with those interactions,” said Gen. Joe Votel, head of U.S. Central Command, as he stood on the bridge of the amphibious ship later in the day. “It’s measured in minutes to really have the opportunity to make the right decision.”
It's measured in MINUTES, guys, and the patrol boats can get to the ship in seconds. Even in knots.
-
Now why would our sailors show them their knots again?

In any case we fired back all is well int the world the u.s is feared once again blah blah blah

Firing warning shots was the correct call and if that didn't work then let them say hello to Davey Jones locker.

If those things use outboards i'd have a marksman put a .50 through one. Let their buddies tow em back home.

A shot on a fast threat....on open water...from 300 yards.
Let's pretend you first have one of the dozen or so people in the world that could hit said shot. Clearly that isn't just a 'warning'. You've hit a target.
What then, chief ?

wait for them to make a turn, boat has to slow way down. I'm sure alot of these ships have marine marksmen on them if not some Seals. Who if i'm not mistaken train to take out car engines at that range and greater. What then? Well you dial em up and ask em what happened to their boat, if they need any assistance. You know, proper troll.
