Kessler isn't going to Suck as Bad as We Think

  • Kessler isn't going to Suck as Bad as We Think

That statement goes against everything we know about being a 21st century Browns QB.

I'm just hoping that he now knows where the back of the end zone is.

  • I just don't want him to think he has to do anything radical to win the game... Let the game come to him.. And feed off that...

  • Watched his tape. He is impressive and has a better arm than most people think..

    Accurate too..

I think he can be effective in the intermediate routes and might even connect on a deep bomb to Coleman/Pryor.

He will make mistakes, he just needs to limit them and trust his team around him. Crow can get it done on the ground they just need to block and create holes that he can hit! (Giggity)

A deepish, ball or two, even if of the 50/50 variety that we win, will be important. We simply have to stretch the field, something Kess was unable to do in preseason when he averaged just over 3 YPA. Bad enough on its own, but worse when you note he completed 2 out of 3 throws.

Then again he wasn't working with our developing 1's in preseason...

Like I said, expect a deep ball on the first possession, maybe even the first play.

  • Good topic! Patriots don't change anything from Brady to Garapolo to Brissett. They will run more, screens and dump offs to Blount and will probably beat Houston.

Kessler can do the same. All he needs is confidence. Who wouldn't want Coleman and Pryor to throw deep to?

Whitehurst is listed number 2 on the depth chart which means Hogan wasn't promoted. I would give the rookies a chance and put Whitehurst on the practice squad. I didn't see Belichek panicking last week. He's as calm as a cucumber playing Brissett.

Whitehurst is not eligible for the PS.

No, he is almost ready for his pension.

By the way, Whitehurst is 34.....so he has lived a year longer than the real Jesus...supposedly.

Is it just me or does he look like a young Bernie Kosar in this video.. Hmmmm... Maybe we are on to something.

Put a half empty bottle of Dewers in his hand and the resemblance would be uncanny...

But, at this point, we should see what we have with Cody Kessler. This season is fucked beyond belief anyway, so what do we have to lose by playing him?

But but but... Bill can't win without Brady... πŸ˜‰

  • I haven't heard anybody, our own radio guys included, that have ANYTHING nice to say about Kessler's chances this weekend. Perhaps they are all wrong, but by all accounts I've read/heard, Cody is going to have his ass handed to him, and it WILL be ugly.

We won't be able to run the ball without setting it up with the pass, and that's scary. The Fins might have 19 defenders in the box.

  • I will be shocked if the Browns O scores more than 9 points...

Lots of screens to Hawkins and Duke, and four yard passes to Barnridge. We are going to have to give him a big performance from our defense to make it the kind of a game a rookie can get through.

  • With everything bad that has happened to the Browns, Kess having to start in week 3 may turn out to be a good thing. If, and since he's a Browns QB - Hell, a Browns' player, I know that's a big 'if', but if he can stay healthy and play for any length of time, then it should make the Browns' choice of a future QB much more clear...... It should become obvious of Kess has it or not.

Same above should be said to the RG3 experiment, as if there is anyone left in the entire Brown's organization who thinks that he is our franchise QB, then they should be fired and punched in the face, immediately.

So in a possible 1-15 season, it may prove to set up the Browns for the future quicker and better, but that won't make it any easier to watch......

  • a terrified rookie qb and screen passes equals a salivating defense and lot's of pick sixes.

He can win games, not championships.

(FYI....recall....Paul Brown never won a title without Otto Graham at QB...but he could win many other games.)

  • His arm isn't impressive from what I've seen, and the all important stat of "completion % of passes over 15 yards" was NOT good. Don't remember what it was, but it wasn't good.

Then don't watch the game. It's pretty simple.

  • I hope Kessler does well, I don't like that he's getting tossed to the wolves in week 3 - but we have no choice.

It's plain and simple...If kessler does not suck, the rest of team will...If the team plays well, kessler will suck...It is just the way it goes with this stink shit team..plain and simple...either way, we get the shit kicked out of us in miami...
