Why are Patriots Quarterbacks So Good?

The Browns Board

  • It all starts at the top. Kraft is a pretty damn good owner.

  • Anyone else want to guess?

We haven't had a correct answer yet.

    C'mon.....

    I'll give you a hint.

Why did the Giants beat them in the super bowl when they didn't lose a football game all season to that point?

    Another hint.

Why did Brady look mortal during that super bowl?

Brady is a factor.but defense wins championships. As the NYG did in SB to Denver last seasons playoff game..Get in Brady's face & sometime plant it (legally). you got under 4 seconds..

  • It's called offensive game planning, defensive game planning and special teams game planning. Oh and maybe a little coaching here and there while not drafting 4 wr's in one year. 😛

    Thank You.

    PASS PROTECTION!!!

When a Patriots QB takes a shot gun snap he gets to STAND THERE!

He gets to pick out an individual fan to throw the ball at if no receiver ever gets open. And the Patriots don't generally have ALL WORLD receivers. They have NFL caliber receivers. If they have enough time almost any NFL caliber receiver will get open. And the same can be said of the QB. If you give them enough time they'll throw a nice spiral to a wide open receiver. - pitch & catch.

As Joe Banner said, the name of today's football game is Pass And Rush The Passer.

If you can keep the opponent from being able to rush the passer, then your team can win games.

Put Tom Brady behind the blockers that we've had since Tom came into the league and he doesn't get a bust in the HOF!

  • OK, but as a Browns fan. What's a defense?

  • One word: Belichick.

    Mike

Why is it that no matter WHO plays QB for the Patriots, he looks good?

Josh McDaniels. Ohio roots, but the dude is a ass..met him at a wedding

He is the heir apparent to BB, clearly. And yes, Ohio roots. Born about a mile from where I sit.

    Pass rush in his face.

it would not surprise me to see the lombardi trophy renamed to the lombardachick trophy when it is all said and done....he's that good.

  • Pats have a knowledgeable owner, good coaches across the board who can develop raw draft picks, talented and smart players that make few mistakes, and belichic

  • Stability, a coach and coordinator that are smart enough to emphasize a player's talents without compromising the structure of the scheme, and reliable offensive teammates who perform their jobs.

Bill doesn't ask his players to be Pro-Bowl caliber players at each level. He doesn't ask every lineman to hold a block for 10 seconds every play, he doesn't ask every runningback to average 10 YPC, he doesn't ask his receivers to all be Megatron. He asks them to be accountable and to play within the confines of the play structure. It's not rocket science and it's not because of cheating, luck or anything else. They execute their offensive system to perfection, because it's an offense that has been in NE for 20 years.

The system is bigger than the players, which is also why you see the NE WR corps change every two years with no noticeable drop off. It's why you see them perform with any QB at the helm, regardless of their physical attributes. Their three QB's are vastly different in terms of physical attributes, but they are all smart and efficient and take what the defense gives them, rather than forcing something that isn't there. They play within the confines of the offense.

The last time a Browns QB did that? First quarter of the Ravens game last week.

    😆

And did you ever see those clock drills where QBs get the ball away in less than 1.5 seconds, some way less than that? The object OBVIOUSLY is to negate or lessen the effect of a brutal pass rush.

Now TRUE I'd rather have a good pass and run blocking line and great DEs on the other side of the ball but it takes a team to win.....or did Hillary say that?

But it does start up front first (especially if you want a long passing game).

  • You're a damn fool, Orion. Brady has had several terrible offensive lines, including last year.

  • So, Orion, in your infinite wisdom - what should we do?

Should we draft all offensive linemen with our top picks to be like New England? Is that your suggestion? Bolster the line with 1st and 2nd round picks?

  • Like I said earlier in the thread, if it were simply a matter of saying "oh, it's the o-line" or whatever other one thing you may think it is, then everyone else would be able to do it. It's much more than that. It starts with the owner and continues through to the secretaries.

They just get it and have for almost 20 years. Other teams get it for a year or two and then fall back to earth, while some teams never seem to get it......

Poor bastards, I'd hate to be part of their fan base.

I live in New England....so guess what....I've seen a LOT of Patriots football since the Steve Grogan days...and the BIG difference in the Brady era (which is the Belichick era) is TIME TO THROW!

Yes, last year wasn't the best year for their OL, but they were in the process of changeover.

It's quite obvious to me that so many you Ohio people are semi clueless. You think you're so freakin' football smart....but you aren't.

I hear you people say, "We've got to have a power running game here in the AFC North. You can't focus on passing because of the weather." When here in New England the Patriots use retread RB's and set passing records in blizzards.

No wonder the Browns suck all the time. They probably spend too much time listening to you fans.

Watch the Patriots play football...A LOT...AND LEARN SOMETHING!

  • so ur the only one that has ever lived in NE and watched belichick coached pats teams? pleez.

the thing they have over the browns ultimately? owner. which has led the best run franchise since going all-in on belichick. then it trickles down to the FO to the scouting to the coaching staff and the way they instill their system to anyone to put on their uni.

something the browns haven't seen since the jim brown era.

  • i hear basset needs surgery seems they are having some of are bad luck

  • I don't live in Ohio but ok. They won the division and made it to the AFC championship last year with what you admit was a bad OL. Your theory is completely busted already.
