It is now. Roughly translated it means: Bombastic Blowfish (with now substance)

    Sunday throwbacks with the Gipper.

I don't it's just funny seeing just how far offf he can be.

A&M and Stanford are the only two teams in the country with three P5 wins. A&M's opponents are 7-5 with all five losses coming to top 10 teams. So what's your reasoning? "They started 5-0 the last two years and struggle during down the stretch so of course it will happen again." Some elementary analysis like that I'm guessing?

I am not OFF at all. Here is what I said:

As for TAMU and Arkansas, that game is yet to be played, no? We shall see. If they beat TC..which has been far better in the recent past, they can beat you."

Everything about that is spot on: Arkansas beat TCU. TCU has been like a Top 5 ranked team the past few years. A&M has not been. And we did have to wait and see how that game would go. So, now the game has been played and we have a much better take on how good tamu is....and it seems to be very good. What is wrong with taking an approach like that? Tamu for the past several years has been barely a Top 25 team....so there should never have been any absolute confidence in them. Its not like they were Alabama or Ohio St.

So, my wait and see approach ABSOLUTELY was right.

Are you talking to me? If so.....even that analysis could be dead on. They have some goods wins thus far....but they still have Alabama, Ole Miss, LSU, Miss St. yet to go.

Good for you if you beat all of them. I hope you do. Fuck a bunch of Alabama (or as I refer to them: East Germany), and LSU fires their national championship winning coach? They deserve nothing but second tier status after that. And though I like Chad Kelly, I don't give a rat's ass about those Mississippi teams otherwise.

Pretty much anyone that pays attention knows TCU is average this year, at least by their standards, and that Arkansas is far worse than A&M. They suck. If we played 10x, we'd win 10. Very few people though they "could beat" us.

The next part was for Woody (who I was responding to).

I don't pay that much attention. I know that TCU lost to Arkansas...and that Arkansas lost to A&M....but those are only conclusions that can be reached at this point after having seen them play.

There may not have been a lot of people that thought that Louisville could beat FSU...but now we do. You don't "know" things until they happen.

"only team with 3 P5 wins" is kind of a meaningless stat. A lot of teams haven't even had that opportunity. That's just how your schedule is set up.

But you're right. You didn't finish strong before and I'm not sure what's changed.

I don't think they're a CFP team. Anything else is really irrelevant. We'll know more over the next few weeks for A&M. I hope they take down Bama though.

Uhh, the dbag QBs have been replaced by a really strong leader (and adequate on the field QB). Lack of team chemistry is the primary reason for the breakdown the last two years so there you go. The next big reason was youth on defense. We returned all but two starters on defense and there are probably about 5 first-two-day draft picks on it at least. Second year under a new DC (who is elite). New offensive coordinator who's not 15 years old and actually has some gravitas. New OL coach who is elite. I could go on. A better question is what hasn't changed. Most people don't watch much CFB outside of their own team. If you're one, that's ok.

  • MLD WoodyM MLD Woody wrote on last edited by

I follow CFB pretty closely. My team, then rivals, then conference teams, then big name teams. I admittedly don't know a ton about A&M outside of all of the QBs that have left, your great defenders, and your desire to latch onto everything SEC.

We'll see what happens over the next few weeks. I just don't see them making much noise. I could be wrong. I'll be rooting for them to beat Bama

Two first day draft picks means first rounders. You have Garrett....who else on that defense is 1st round worthy.

Interested because with Philly playing so well it seems that the Browns draft pick from them could come much later than we had hoped.

I guess they won't be as many from The OHIO STATE UNIVERSITY selection of candidates this year as not that many will be Seniors or ready to come out early as underclassmen.

Actually I don't watch these things as close as I used to do until it gets to between Halloween and Thanksgiving when you see which teams are really Final Four possibilities and which players are really Heisman or first round worthy.....unfortunately whether they come from the elite P5 conferences or not which seems to be a prerequisite.

It's true though that the majority of blue chip players end up on the elite school rosters but it's fun to find those other smaller school gems out there.

From CBS Sports: While Myles Garrett is ranked as their overall #1 prospect, they don't rate another A&M player as being more than a 3rd or 4th round pick:

Myles Garrett: 1st round #1 overall

    Avery Genessey OT: 3-4th round

    Daeshon Hill DE: 4th

    Speedy Noll WR: 4th-5th

    Josh Reynolds WR 5th

    Justin Evans SS 6th

    Ricky Jones WR 6th

(Just to compare: Ohio State also has 1 first round rated talent, but has 4 2d round rated talents, 2 3rd rounders, and a couple of 6th/7th rounders)

I didn't say two first day. I said five first-two-day, meaning 1st and 2nd round picks. Garrett, Hall, Evans, Watts, and at least one in a future year.

Uhm, well, perhaps....but right now, CBS doesn't agree with you. They see Garrett as the only above round 3 pick for 2017. Of course it is way early.

Guys that are not on the radar get reevaluated even after the season. Look at Wentz....nowhere at all rated near a 1st round pick this early last year....he becomes #2 overall....and looking good so far.

Our last three games have been on ESPN and they've been talking up McShay's big board, which I don't see anywhere online.

Anyway, walterfootball.com has Evans and Watts both in the second round. Daeshon Hall, just give it time. He's a 3.5 year starter, really long, pretty solid pass rusher.

Want McShay you'll probably have to pay, but they will give you teasers and sample freebies:

Like the BROWNS early mock picks.

I only care about them if they could be possible picks by the Browns. The Browns last foray into drafting a player from A&M was a disaster, fair to say?

OMG I actually had to actually think about that for a minute or two 😆

All the wheeling and dealing going on and the picks kept going lower and lower in the first round to #22 which was Brady Quinn's spot also. I hear some NFL teams are still considering him now, LA?

I have been referencing the CBS draft prospect list on here since you have been in diapers. (you are out of diapers, no?)

I have also used such historical entities like Street and Smiths, Athlons and others before there was an internet.
