Browns release Armonty Bryant

  • I have a feeling that Bryant is just waiting for the other shoe to fall for getting busted for possession on top of the pissing hot.

  • Bryant had issues.....but bottom line, he was still probably as good as any DLineman we had. We just didn't really "have" him, since he was suspended.

The other fact is that this is just another victim of the Browns FO purge of any players that are not "their guys". The litany goes on.

I guess though, that since he was not on the 53 man roster that they did not replace him, fair to say?

(he will probably go join the Pats.)

  • Yep! I see Bryant and maybe even Gordon going to the Pats. They were shopping Gordon before the rehab and that smells! Browns wanted a first or second rounder for Gordon. Now they'll get nothing!

  • but let's hold on to gordon! 😵

Hmmm... Mik- the silence is deafening regarding Gordon. He could have been activated today. If he's not released by the end of today- there's something going on behind the scenes we don't know about.

I've said a couple of times, it he gets the Death penalty drug suspension- there's really no reason to release him. Talent wise he's in another dimension compared to the other druggies we cut. Don't have to pay him, and he doesn't count against a roster spot. The Jags still own the rights to Justin Blackmon. Speaking of- if Josh is suspended again- he can go sit on the porch with Justin, smoke blunts and drink beer all day for all I care.

  • yeah kinda figured it was an ownership of the player type thing.....................hmmmmmm.

so if he's going to be anyone's talented doper, he's gonna be ours!

  • Guess we're not tolerating any nonsense, and that's possibly a good thing. But if he goes to another team (probably New England, lol) and blows up...I'll go bananas. A friend of mine told me he saw Paul Kruger get two sacks the other day. Don't know if that's true or not. Lord knows we needed some more pass rush during the past game. Kirk had the cleanest pocket I've ever seen. We simply aren't getting to the QB consistently. I believe I read that Nassib is back at practice. His hand can't be healed yet, but perhaps he can wrap it up and be effective.

  • It's not like we have 4-3 Edge rushers lined up around the block, but I understand the predicament for the Browns and it does not necessarily include moralizing.

Do you spend a roster spot on a guy coming off suspension who may not be available a matter of weeks from now?

    Apparently, perhaps it does.

If he is coming off suspension, why would he not be available now instead of weeks from now? Is he hurt? Or is there some other issue. I know, in theory that he could be suspended again....but if he is not suspended now why can't he play?

  • "Apparently" and "perhaps" do not go together.

You misread my follow-up point... weeks from now he might well be suspended again for the indictment. That is the predicament.

  • After having committed to the extreme makeover and having cut ties with so many veterans, including some good players, they probably looked at the roster and said "so who we gonna cut for this guy?"......who shows the most long term potential?......and it wasnt AB.....

Plus...It also wouldnt surprise me if the Browns were influenced by the most recent Josh Gordon debacle and, feeling the sting again, just looked at AB as yet another unreliable player who is facing additional punishments and just decided "he aint that good and we dont need this"....

    Hence....he's cut....

Agreed. Armonty has been busted 3 times that we know of, twice for selling drugs to undercover cops, then his latest. I am glad he's gone.

    Mike

  • Armonty is just another freakin' dope. But he wasn't half bad as a player. We could've used him. Too bad he's a dope.

He's already been scooped up by the Lions.
