Speaking of 2017 Pay Days... Crow

The Browns Board
19 14 692
  • Right now he's projected on pace for 1576 yards and 12 TDs. I doubt he'll maintain his YPC average, but with more carries those numbers are probable.

He'll probably want a 4-5 year deal. 26 year old runningbacks in their contract year would be aiming for that.

  • Crow is in the last year of his contract, but unlike Pryor, Crow will be a RFA bringing the tender offer system into play. I haven't heard anything about negotiations going on... and would be surprised if there were.

I don't think the 2017 tender amounts are set as of yet, but here are 2016's:

Restricted free agents can be held in place through the application of one of three tenders. The lowest level provides a right or first refusal. The second-round tender provides a right of first refusal and (duh) a second-round pick as compensation if the original team doesn’t match. The first-round tender carries a right of first refusal and a first-round pick as compensation.

This year, the tender amounts are $1.671 million, $2.553 million, and $3.635 million, respectively.

Obviously with 3/4's of the season to go Crow's hot start may or may not continue, but given our OL, scheme and Hue's run-game history, I like his chances. And if he does, then given our FO's love of draft picks (and our cap space) a 2nd round tender seems likely.

It will be interesting to see how our Analytics FO handles it.

Hmmmm.... Yet to play out Tour. I just don't want Crow to think we're dissing him (like Tayshawn Gibson) putting a second round tender on him. Doubtful anyone would bite- on a second round- but you never know. If he hits 1,500- you slap the first round on him and try to work out a front loaded long term deal. 🙂

  • Good on Crow. Kept his word on Texas Donation 30k. When his Money Boat floats in next season, he may want to tip Earnest Byner cause this Crow has never played with controlled Balance & Vision like this season,,Fly Crow Fly......Add Pryor looking for a deal next season, the FO number punchers will need to get it right. Right,Hue?

Now that he is no longer with the Browns you are free to misspell that other T. Gipson's name.

I dont see how he reaches 1500 yards if Kessler cant keep defenses honest. Id love for him to pull it off though, hes my third back on my one fantasy team. It will be interesting once coleman is back.

    He's only 23. That's why he's beautiful.

  • Here is the guy that deserves the raise if the team keeps running game on or near the top of the NFL.

  • Good point Ag, the coaching staff is leaps and bounds better than what we had before

  • I believe I was told in here that Duke Johnson was awesome so no need to pay Crowell.

  • I like Crowell too! He's on all my fantasy teams. But I would have liked Elliot and Prescott better. They seem to be this year's Wilson and Lynch but even better!

I'm on two wanted Crowell got Duke...cut him, but got Elliott on one whoa breaking all time Dallas rushing records as a rookie.

You never really know about RBs.

....BTW Holy smokes Coco Crisp a 2R HR, CLE 4-1 top 6 and still batting!

    Party at Coco's. 🙂

  • Everyone loves Crowell now? OK, good to keep up with the times.

He's a solid, serviceable back, who has shown ability to break some tackles and take advantage of holes that are there. He's not really shown ability to make something out of nothing, or much as a receiver, and shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as the likes of AP, Bell, and probably Elliott after this year.

That said, I'm happy to keep him around as long as he's giving us production, and also consistent performances. At the moment, there's a little too much 100 yard - 20 yard - 100 yard yo yo going on, but with better OL play I think he'll be fine.

Don't know about everyone, but I believe I've been with Crow all along. The guy just has a "burst" in any hole at the LOS I don't see in any of our other backs... the kind of burst that many top RBs in the league have. He just was not suited to the ZBS.

People lie here all the time... 😉

  • Perhaps it's just that the people who were outraged by him in the summer and wanted him cut immediately are being very quit now he's easily on pace for a 1000-yard season?

  • For the record, I have never waivered. See the avatar.

I like Crow just need his YPC to stay above 4.5 for the season before I'm all in
