  • I didnt see quit out there, just overmatched. Cowboys are as good as the pats. Some positions better. The pats offense is better cause of brady, but the defense if the cowboys...if i had to bet on a sb match between them right now....id bet the boys D holds the pats to less points than the pats d holds the boys o to

    bullshit.

i hear this every year into a cleveland REFUCKINGBUILD.......'i like what the cleveland browns are doing! they are pretty good! they play hard every week! they're gonna turn it around!'

BULLFUCKINGSHIT. same talking heads proppin up this crap cuz there's is someone on the sidelines they want to get behind. by this time next year those same bandwagon stu fans or reporters will be calling for his head. land someone in a trade and all-of-a-sudden the FO looks great! meanwhile they couldn't draft a bug.

just bullshit. plain and simple crap. who cares if they fucking win now. woulda been great to beat down the cowboys and all their fag fans. now back to our regularly scheduled SHIT SHOW.

  • In order to quit, there needs to be a start. They haven't quit. The game seems to be too much for the HC to wrap his head around. We need a high IQ coach that is young, hungry and a workaholic. Game planning, clock mismanagement, play calling, penalties, and motivation are all on the HC.

  • Oh good, we're back on the 'fire the coach' merry-go-round again. I really can't wait to see which guys people are clamouring for today but then want gone halfway in to his first year.

Ya, 20 some losses with no improvement will do it every time

  • Damn straight. If we had Coach Johnson from OneGoodSeason State, this team would be playoff bound. He'd be teaching all the DBs to tackle, he'd be teaching the pass rushers, he'd be teaching the safeties how to play safety, and on top of all of this he'd also draft the QB he had in college and redesign the whole offensive scheme for the 8th time in 8 years, leading us to the promised land on the first go.

Yes sir, that's exactly how it goes.

  • johnson with the ball brothers.

long black and smelly, like the line outside your sister's door.

CBA sez no practice for you. HC is just a motivator anymore.
  • How, exactly, is anyone precisely measuring "Effort" ? You mean like Austin Pasztor becoming better than Schwartz over the course of this season by putting in the time and.. the effort to get there?

Get this through your head: Effort is NOT the only thing standing between Browns and a victory - or even a good play.

You can't "coach up" or "scheme" around a team that simply lacks.NFL.talent at nearly every position on the field.

OK, Calhoun got beat - he didn't walk out there and say "This play I'll drop to my hook zone and then just tie my shoes for 10 seconds." He was UDFA for a reason. News flash: He WAS trying.. he just got beat.

OK cool, so the new coach will just motivate his guys to tackle better? Get them super excited about executing the correct technique?

How about we bring in Tony Robbins as HC? That's got to be the answer, right?!

Now you might be on to something. Nothing else seems to work.

But the CBA does seem to keep a team down that desperately needs a lot of practice. If a new young team can't get extra practice time... It?

  • need a team of wicken bitches with burning sage to go in and blow the whole team and stadium.....clean of all ghosts and modell's goo left on the legacy of the browns.

Just add these tools to our defensive team and all is well.

I agree that the CBA has an impact on the ability to improve. But how does that change with a new HC? And btw, our HC has basically nothing to do with our D (for better or worse), it's all Ray Horton's staff.

I believe the HC was in charge of hiring a coaching staff. I'm not gonna pretend to have the answers but I damn sure feel some sort of strong action is justified and nedded

You got that in a nutshell. The question is WHY did the FO decide to let the majority of the NFL caliber talent we did have last year walk, and replace it with unproven rookies\ FAs?

Mudfly did a pretty good job comparing who left with what we now have.

That would be the experienced, respected HC that could attract great coaching talent? 😉 (Blast from the recent past)

Yes, HCs, by and large, set their staffs. A good number of Hue's hires came in well-regarded... mostly on the O-side IIRC, e.g., Pep, Al Saunders, Hunter...

  • I think the offense is actually promising given the variables there. There's a lot of "signs of life" that can lead to me believe that might be a viable threat to be good in future years.

The defense? YEESH. They have objectively gotten worse which given how low they started really says a lot. Howard yesterday quite literally looked a dude who got lost on the way to the bathroom, somehow ended up in the locker room and was told he was the starting safety. Our two most seasoned defenders made a communication mistake that high school coaches would be screaming at their guys about. Our schemes look like they were drawn up by a 4th grader. The only guys on that side of the ball with viable "upside" at this point are Collins and Ogbah (maybe Kirksey). That includes the likes of Haden as well. I mean Jesus Christ fellas, we are 9 games into the season and guys don't even have the fundamentals to line up onside 3 FRIKING TIMES! That's not just bad, that's "how is this even possible" bad. The fact they look so much worse than at the start of the year is just really, really discouraging.

  • Lining up offsides is a pet peeve of mine... not just doing it, but the inconsistency of the calls.

I may do a screen shot later, but after Cooper's run of them we got the ball and the 'Boys RDE was a half a helmet offside and there was no call...

Yeah, it's clear the refs are looking for the Browns penalties in general more closely than other teams, at least IMO. I think it may be an almost subconscious thing of "they are so bad, they must be doing something wrong" type of scenario but still it's a tough break.

Don't know about that as I see it in non-Browns games as well. The superimposed, blue LOS makes it obvious.

Another pre-snap peeve (while we're on the subject) is the relaxing of the point of emphasis from a couple years ago that all the OL actually being on the LOS. The 'Boys and us did me proud with this yesterday.... straight as a ruler with only the Center slightly ahead.

Really gets messy when teams bow back there OTs and split WRs are on the LOS even with the Center and the slot is even with the OT on his side and the TE on the opposite side is even with his OT.

They're not called "pet peeves" for nothing...
