One Post's Electoral College

Yeah I don't doubt. For me in my final year I took the 'interesting' courses - abstract theoretical stuff - and some 'useful' courses, like decision maths, financial principles etc. whereas the two years leading up to it had been more general, things like real/complex variable theory, symmetry and groups, linear algebra, blah-de-blah.
Then masters was some finance stuff, so pretty trival maths, but also stochastic calculus, more advanced stats (I hate stats), numerical methods for estimating a solution to an insoluble SDE etc. that kind of thing.

So we should vote based on land mass?

So we should vote based on land mass?
So we should keep our electoral college (which we will anyway...It's not going anywhere)
-
Look, in order to abolish the electoral college 38 states would have to agree with that. Of those 38 states 33 or more would instantly become irrelevant in terms of say that they had. And that, as they say, is that.

I don't want to debate whether or not something could happen, but whether it should. "It could never change" isn't an argument for th EC
-
It should not happen. Pure Democracy devolves into mob rule pretty quickly.
-
Who said that's the only other option?
-
Maybe proportionally awarded electoral votes.

I don't remember any whining about the electoral college during obaMao's Reign of Terror....
-
It doesn't matter who wins, the system seems out dated. A discussion of it isn't whining

Is the Senate outdated as well? For instance should Ohio have more senators than Wyoming? It doesn't matter who wins, the system seems out dated. A discussion of it isn't whining

"everything is outdated - if it isn't the way we want it to be"

Isn't that what the House is for?

"Each State shall appoint, in such Manner as the Legislature thereof may direct, a Number of Electors, equal to the whole Number of Senators and Representatives to which the State may be entitled in the Congress: but no Senator or Representative, or Person holding an Office of Trust or Profit under the United States, shall be appointed an Elector."

I'm advocating for breaking up the EC votes from each state based on the number of votes a candidate got there.
10 total votes. 60% Trump. 40% Clinton then 6 for Trump, 4 for Clinton.
This still means someone's vote in a small state counts for more, but it's closer to a popular vote.

Trump lost the popular vote because of states like democratic California who ran up the vote totals. California already gets rewarded by their number of electoral votes (55) which is far and away more than any other state so it is not like the democrats don't get rewarded already for winning a state like California.
It's all a moot point. To get rid of the electoral college would only start with 2/3rds majority votes in both houses of congress (hard enough in itself to accomplish) and then approved by 38 states (impossible). Better learn to deal with the electoral college.
