Confirmed - Browns playing (home game) in London - vs Vikings

  • Stupid as hell, sorry.

It should never, ever be an inter- conference matchup.

Giving up a home game there means the Vikings won't visit Cleveland until 2025.

60 miles? That's a long way to crawl...

Yea, but with just like 4 people, it would literally only cost each guy about $150- 200.00 to stay an entire week in a decent condo.

There were options in London proper for about 2K per week (that is total.) For 6 that would be about $350.00 for the week. Maybe worth the extra money.

  • If you need advice on locales I live and work in central London. If you are just over for the weekend, your best bet is west/southwest of London - basically twickenham and Heathrow (one of the two airports you'll come into) are in that area.

If you're looking at doing tourist things in central London, Waterloo is the station that heads that way, so bear that in mind.

Anyway, yeah, I can help. Or google.

Your job would be to chauffer us around in a Rolls.

Or a Bentley. And to lend us your Jagyouare.

    I don't think we've ever lost a home game in London.....yet.

  • @jrb12711 said:

Yeah, I mean I'm acutely aware of NFL scheduling policies but I wouldn't be losing sleep over not seeing the Vikings play even if it's a long time from now. I'd personally much rather see AFC battles (assuming the Browns are ever good) that might actually matter for playoff purposes than an NFC game.

Funny thing is that in my mother's family, two of the 6 girls became War Brides. My mom came her to Northeast Ohio.. The other sister, my aunt went with her husband to St. Paul, Minnesota.

So, in my family that branch are Vikings fans, and I am a Browns fan.

And while our parents were born in Ireland, they grew up in the south of England, not far in London...in Gillingham (which, I think is where one of our British denizens on here lives). We have had family reunions in Ireland, but perhaps we could meet up in Merry Ole.

I live 30 miles from Gillingham. Canterbury is a lot nicer in my opinion! 🙂

I'm pretty certain they play it through the gamepass.

Yeah, saw him back in 2009 when he ran all over us.

While I'm still pissed that it's the Vikings and not Jax or Tenn, I am interested in going to London. I was there once, in 2013 for 3 nights. I can't remember the district we stayed at, but it was a short walk to Soho.Had a blast.

That doesn't sound legal to me, surely Sky Sports would be all over something like that as they show NFL live?

Just been told it's true, I had no idea. Looks like I'll have to join this club then!

  • So we get the "B" facility?

Early date looks promising for a Wedding anniversary in the Isles, but either will work.

    @gftchris said:

    Any idea on the prices?

Please look into block pricing as well. That was the one serious part of my "your duties" post.

Should be discounted and those of us who commit to the trip can PayPal in advance so you don't get stuck. Then if we no show, and you can't resell for face value, the no show is on the hook.

Ah bringing your wife. Maybe I can talk my agoraphobic better half into making the trip. You mentioned France- Bordeaux is on my bucket list.

By the way....I have already check out my timeshare exchange company website......and I have found some VERY reasonable options to stay in England. These are in Canterbury...which is not a far commute from London...60miles. A 2BR place that could bunk up to 6 people.

    Anyone game?

Gip, we shall see. Looks like they're giving us season ticket holders first crack at preferred seating. (I don't want to do a 3,000+ mile road trip and sit in nosebleeds.) For sure there will be package deals at group rates. Though if "preferred" means we think you have a ton of money to blow on this trip (I don't) it could get real pricey. Like those guided eclipse tours I've seen in my Astronomy mags. If the stuff offered though the Browns is too rich for my blood, I for sure will be interested in doing a timeshare with you. We survived a weekend in Nashville together. Just no visits to antique shops for me. 🙂

It's only a Chunnel away... although I might have to cross topside... submerged tunnels are a bit of a phobia here.

The block option would be cool... please keep us posted. As I said to Chris, interested parties can always use PayPal to front the money to anyone willing to block for the group (see what I did there?).

As this board may be closing I wondered if anyone had decided to come over? I dont post on here a huge amount but would like to meet anyone if they did come over for the game. Where can I leave my contact details if anyone would like to neck a beer or two that weekend!
