Holy Shit: Williams presser

He pretty much told Gross's " I know who the fuck your are and I won't take your shit!" Lol. http://www.clevelandbrowns.com/media-center/videos/Gregg-Williams-introductory-press-conference/1470f2bb-fc21-4c05-a3d4-29148aab0069

If he gets this defense to perform then nobody will give him any shit. If it continues to play the way it has lately, everybody will be giving him shit.
Bloviate all you want: do the job.

Only problem is if the winning doesn't come how long the act will be tolerated. Coach Williams is intense, but sometimes he needs to dial the Rah Rah down a notch.
I think the opposite. The rest of the staff need to dial it up to his level. They should be intense. It's a violent intense sport full of hormone overflow athletes, it needs coached accordingly.Only problem is if the winning doesn't come how long the act will be tolerated. Coach Williams is intense, but sometimes he needs to dial the Rah Rah down a notch.

But will he kick a trash can?
Everyone, post the most terrifying thing you have ever witnessed a coach do.
Half time against perennial Ohio football powerhouse Marion Local (getting our asses kicked), our coach came into the locker rook and hammer tossed a 6 pack of full water bottles (weight about 10-15 pounds) against a locker. I hit right above a players head (no helmet), and it caved in the top section of the lockers door (at ML). Went back two years later, and locker was still fucked.

Witness? Nothing. Heard of: Jerry Sandusky.

In football? We were up 40 on a podunk school but were playing "flat". At half time, Coach Bullet grabbed a kid's helmet and threw it through a set of windows that were about 15 feet up.
In wrestling? A cigarette fell out of a kid's pocket when we were getting ready for practice. Coach scooped it up and stuffed the cigarette in the kid's mouth and made him swallow it.

AKA the "Rexy Syndrome"...
Really depends on the constancy and direction of the intensity.
- Too constant and it becomes noise.
- Too outward focused on results rather than inward on performance and it leaves coaching and enters RahRahland.

So does anyone still believe this guy won't get Garrett @ #1? He wants a defensive thoroughbred to wreck other teams with. Garrett wants to be the best that's ever played the game. Perfect match.

We'll see. Garrett was already stupid enough to say he would prefer to play in "warm weather". That kind of attitude is not gonna wash with Williams.

I would kind of agree, Williams was probably like stfu pussy.

That weather stuff changes once you get indoctrinated into a team.
Green Bay has had a pretty nice run with a QB from Mississippi and another from Cali.
Seems like some of the best cold weather ballers are Southern kids. Once they buy in they get over that could thing.

Agreed, but I bet those guys didn't voice a "pre draft" weather preference. Neither has Allen.

Garrett volunteering that did defintely come off as a veiled way of saying he doesn't want to go to Cleveland in my opinion.

True that.
I watched the whole presser....and I like him. (I'm sure that puts your minds at ease)

He's articulate and comfortable in front of an audience. He let Grossi know the rules in no uncertain terms...without being a Bill Parcells ass.
I like how he wants to tackle in practice....and practice fast so that game day is no big difference. Which I think it's been for our guys.
I REALLY like a coach who can adapt his system(s) to the players that he has. That's the only way to get the most out of them. Perhaps he has a style that he wants to play...but really doesn't have the personnel. Well, you tell the powers what they need to get you so that you can play the style that you want......but in the meantime you're not trying to squash square pegs into round holes.
Good luck Gregg!
Teach 'em how to tackle.....cos they don't seem to know how.

Tony Grossi is such an arsehole
I have no idea if Williams will make us any better, time will tell, but there's no denying his impressiveness in the presser. I can see why players would listen when he speaks.

I like this guy. I really like this guy. Hopnig he can back his words up with a dominant D but he's different to what we've had for a while now.

LOL! In the interest of full disclosure and quotes out of context, there is this from NBC Sports
"In a quote that will absolutely be parsed and stripped of context, Garrett said heâd prefer not to go someplace cold. Sort of.
âDoesnât matter, . . . but Iâd like not to go anywhere cold,â Garrett said, according to Brent Zwerneman of the Houston Chronicle.
This is the point, where in the interest of journalistic integrity, we point out that Zwerneman noted that Garrett was smiling as he said it, and then kept talking.
âWhoever picks me up, Iâm going to try and play my best for, to be the best player on the field at any given time,â he said. âIt doesnât matter who picks me up, Iâm going to try and be a franchise player for them.â
So relax. Don't make something out of nothing like some sportswriters do to produce copy
