  • Joe Kim.....a Browns strength and conditioning coach who taught them martial arts (taekwondoe) has been let go:

Kim’s title last season was strength and conditioning/skills development coach. From 2001-12 he served as a pass rush consultant for various NFL teams, and prior to his most recent stint with the Browns he was on the strength and conditioning staffs in Chicago and Washington.

Kim is a 7th Dan Black Belt recognized by the World Taekwondo Federation, Kukkiwon and USA Taekwondo and is a former national taekwondo champion and Pan Am Games medalist.

Most teams, I believe, employ martial artists for strength, conditioning and technique training.

  • I wonder if the Patriots team has anyone with these credentials? I think the Patriots have coaches that teach their players how to catch the ball and run as many yards you can before being tackled. I think the Patriots coaches teach their players how to get open and gain yards on every play. And they win in the end. Now if the Browns can adopt this type of learning, maybe we can win games.

No wonder he was let go...

  • I wouldn't trust him because he's a Martial Arts expert named "Joe Kim" and he looks like this:

He is the Donna Chang of the NFL.

I can hear George Costanza's Mom right now, "I'm not taking martial arts advice from some guy from Lakewood!"

  • I think its good to expose some players to this, to teach them where certain pressure points are on the arms to help them disengage blockers, ect, but I have never honestly seen the point of hiring someone full time to be on staff. My old high school coach had use go do specialized karate training 2 days a week during the off-season, then invited the teacher to help on during practice and game day, and if anything it was the opposite of helpful.

  • There were a couple of players (Ogbah & Shelton I think) who said that his hand techniques were VERY helpful to them on game day.

Really. He doesn't even look partially Korean, I wonder if he is like Scott Fujita.....adopted by an Asian couple, but not Asian at all by blood.

  • He's the white sushi chef on The League.
