"Lawmakers have struck down an Obama administration rule that attempts to keep guns out of the hands of people who suffer from mental illness.
The Republican-controlled House voted 235-180 in an apparent effort to improve gun ownership under President Trump. The rule affected nearly 75,000 Social Security recipients diagnosed with mental health conditions, such as extreme anxiety and schizophrenia, and are considered incapable of managing their own affairs."

somehow i doubt republicans want schizo's to have guns. I "think" the issue was that the law was too vague and allowed the govt to theoretically take guns away from people collecting SS or have someone else paying their bills because they're out of a job or have an illness/injury etc, etc. And there's some validity to that. We talked about this in a thread weeks ago. It potentially allowed the govt to confiscate your weapons for things like getting old. This obviously had Cal hopping on one leg he was so mad.

Okay, I will see if I can find the actual text of the law and make my mind up on it.

Well he did get a new knee. Thanks Obama!

            Thursday, 29 December 2016 15:29 Bad news...
            Dear Fellow Patriot,

On Monday, the Social Security Administration released a final ruling on Obama’s Social Security Gun Ban, and it couldn’t be worse . . .

They ruled that the entirety of Obama’s anti-gun scheme will go into effect on January 18th, 2016. Just two days before Obama’s last day in office.

Just as a recap, the Social Security Gun Ban is an expansion of the Veterans Gun Ban that has already stripped the Second Amendment rights of hundreds of thousands of veterans.

This anti-gun power grab will tie the Social Security System into the anti-gun Brady-NICS database.

Simply receiving benefits through a representative payee could be enough to lose your Second Amendment Rights for LIFE with absolutely zero due process.

This is clearly just a last minute move by President Obama to make sure he’s truly cemented his legacy as the most anti-gun President of all time.

As I told you last week, he already sent the U.N. “Small Arms Treaty” to the U.S. Senate as a last minute Hail Mary attempt at gun control.

NAGR members blew the lid on that dirty 11th hour trick, and now ratification of the Treaty is looking less and less likely by the day, so it’s clear Obama jumped to this scheme as a sure bet.

And a sure bet it is -- there is nothing we can do about it at this exact moment, but when President-elect Trump takes office on January 20th we will be.

So please sign your petition to President-elect Trump and your incoming Congressman and Senators urging them to repeal the Social Security Gun Ban as soon as they possibly can!

NAGR supporters taking action was the only thing that prevented this scheme from going into effect earlier.

In fact, the Social Security Administration mentions NAGR supporters on the first page of their own ruling!

The agency admits that NAGR supporters made up the overwhelming majority of the input with more than a whopping 89,000 petitions delivered to their door.

That’s over 90% of all the public comments they received on the issue.

So if we are to repeal this gun ban I must count on you again.

Obama carefully chose this very moment to implement this ruling.

Considering that he has less than a month until a permanent political vacation, he couldn’t care less about what you or anyone else thinks.

That’s why we must make it clear to President-elect Trump, and your incoming Congressman and Senators that the repeal of this draconian scheme should be a TOP priority.

So please click here to sign your petition to REPEAL THE SOCIAL SECURITY GUN BAN right away!

Along with your petition, please consider a generous contribution of $100 or $50.

I know I’m asking a lot, but we must fight back.

This is perhaps Obama’s most brazen attack on our Second Amendment in the eight years he’s been in office.

But if $100 or $50 is too much at this time, please at least consider $20.

We must make it clear to Obama and the rest of the gun grabbers that their anti-American mind-set is not to be accepted in our great country.

So please, sign your petition to REPEAL THE SOCIAL SECURITY GUN BAN without delay!

And please include a generous contribution of $100, $50, or at least $20.

Thank you in advance for your petition and support, Fellow Patriot!

Wednesday, 21 December 2016 09:36 Obama Enacts Social Security Gun Ban

Windsor, CO - President Obama drew harsh criticism from the National Association for Gun Rights following Monday’s announcement that he will force the implementation of the Social Security Gun Ban before leaving office.

The final fourteen-page rule published in the Federal Register says the agency will begin the process of placing beneficiaries on the NICS prohibited persons list beginning January 18, 2017, just two days before inauguration.

This announcement comes as the agency also dismissed out of hand over 89,000 individually signed petitions from members and supporters of the National Association for Gun Rights which made up 95% or all petitions received.

True. However in essence it sound as this needs reform and not to be totally repealed. An improved vetting process perhaps. "Vetting" there goes that word again...

This is an opportunity to create some jobs and put some smart people to work. But what do I know...
