Alabama DE Tim Williams Admits to Positive Drug Tests?
-
Anyone hear about this? A lot the top 12-15 prospects are suddenly finding ways to drop down in the draft so trading back might not be such a bad idea afterall.
Here's one of many articles about this: http://bleacherreport.com/articles/2696168-tim-williams-admits-he-failed-multiple-drug-tests-at-alabama

Here's another article about it.
Tim Williams admits he failed 'a few' drug tests at Alabamaby Jack Browne 19h ago
Trevor Ruszkowski / USA TODAY SportsWhile some prospects at the NFL combine are focused on proving themselves on the field, others are attempting to downplay issues off of it.
One of those is former Alabama standout Tim Williams. Most consider the linebacker a first-round talent, but questions about his character could cause teams to pass on him.
It was reported that Williams failed multiple drugs tests while at Alabama, and the 23-year-old admitted that was true Saturday at the combine, saying he'd failed "a few," according to Eric Edholm of Yahoo Sports.
Eric Edholm@Eric_EdholmAlabama pass rusher Tim Williams admits he failed "a few" drug tests in school. Nfl teams have known about it for while.Williams didn't go into details about how many tests he failed or what substances he tested positive for.
"(I'm a) young player making decisions that I grew from," Williams said, according to Chase Goodbread of NFL.com. "That's what life is about - being a man on and off the field, owning up to your mistakes. Everyone makes them. I'm not here dancing around and joking. I know I'm here with something to prove. I'm obviously behind the eight ball, so I'm here to prove not only to myself but to every organization that if they get me, they're going to get the best player here."
Williams' openness about his past issues will likely sit well with teams, but it'll be the one-on-one interviews that will prove pivotal to his draft stock.
"I'm going in and being completely honest. This is a billion-dollar industry. They've got all their homework and they know everything about you," Williams said. "You can't go in there and just be dishonest, because a first impression is a last impression. ... So far they've respected me for that."
If the pass-rusher can convince teams he's not a risk off the field, he should hear his name called on Day 1. If not, a draft-day fall is possible in what is a strong edge class.

Round 5+ sounds about right

You are a very bitter man.

So cross him off the board
How bout test before your cleared to participate in combine? Add 14 of top 32 have medicals to clear. I'd sit right at #12 & my phone is on busy

There's too many good edge talents to burn a first rounder on him, but I probably wouldn't hesitate in the 3rd provided it was a team need. He's the best pure pass rusher in this draft.
-
if tim williams is the best pure pass rusher in this draft.... Garrett is not worth the number 1...
-
Garrett doesn't have a character issues, has a higher ceiling AS A PASS RUSHER, and has proven he can do other things (except look good in a backpedaling drill, apparently--oh what will we do!). No comparison.
-
Guns and drugs, he and Gordon could be road roomies.
-
A 'few' failed tests?
No thanks. Consideration if he falls down draft boards though.
-
UDFA with that baggage
-
He's a lock to be drafted by the squealers then.
-
Tim Williams & Foster now have borrowed Kizer's iPod to plug into some Lione Richie's Sail on down the board. Bout a, round or so. And a, don't really wanna know. A where your goin. It was plain to see. That a, small town dope like me.Just a,wasn't your cup of tea. It WAS, wishful thinkin...now back to my mowin drinkin..

All's fair in big time college football.
