So i dont fall for these gimmicky memes that make it look like the old lunch program was warmed over soy pattys. I could cook a great meal under those guidelines, but lazy school cooks who only know how to use a deep fryer and a microwave.....yeah they're not gonna do well.

Perhaps you should have done a public service and supplemented the Michelle Obama guidelines with a cook book on how to make good tasting meals within the guidelines? Anyway for whatever reason students were not being served well in many cases by the guidelines. If the government is going to try and micromanage everything they should at least try to do it well instead of just throwing those mandated guidelines and not telling cooks how to prepare good meals within the guidelines.

I come from a large family and could not afford lunches in the cafeteria although at times I would work in the kitchen during study hall and get a meal out of it. Most of the time I brought a packed lunch that was always peanut butter jelly sandwich, potato chips and sandwich cookies and because of finances they were always the cheapest that could be bought. Now did it kill me? No. Is is better for students to eat good lunches sure but "your kind" wants to take these things to extreme and have the government micromanage every aspect of our lives. I like personal freedom myself.
