All in all neither she or I were really impressed with the SEIU it seemed more geared towards the bottom tiers of mainly unskilled labor.
At her place the RNs were ONA and LPNs were stuck with the SEIU -but- for about 35 years or so the LPN wages were tied to the ONA contract numbers thus they had a technically "non-published wage" which was great but not really bargained by the SEIU (confused? many were).
I was in the USW for 6 years while going to college from 1969-1975 before going permanently into supervision, great benefits with the USW.
Unions are definitely on life support now and almost dead, too bad for some workers the medical field is a mess!
