***Official Browns Vs. Steelers Game Day Thread***

The scoreboard says that Browns lost by 3.
Would you be happy if they lost by 21?
Just pointing out that scoreboard is scoreboard, a loss is a loss. Browns looked better than last year for sure, but need to convert to wins.

Ive seen enough nassib is the starter opposite garrett when he gets back
Bullfuck... there are moral victories... and we had a couple today.

Change of heart?
Hell of a showing overall from the defense.
Special teams cost this game plus having a rookie QB. But the defense and the running game can float us.
It was... What was there... one blown coverage missing James on the far sideline for a 1st down?
The ST brain fart was the difference on the board, but had the Steelers needed to score at the end they had plenty of time to do it.
Run game needs work...

Out of bounds Tour-out off bounds
I know, but unless the rule has changed the QB has to be outside the tackle box. And half of the crying by the chowderheads in this thread were on plays in the pocket.
The calls ive taken issue with were bad, bad calls. Its part of the game BUT they were terrible. No arguing it either.
Calls were correct. Try teaching players to tackle using their pads below shoulder height.
One spearing can be an accident; two is a pattern. And as laughably light as the call on TJ was, he dipped his head into the contact. No dip; no flag.

The pass interference was a uncatchable ball in every sense of the definition and it put the browns on the one. It was a bad call.

win or lose this was a great game

Hell yeah it was!! Bell didnt do crap. Considering they have top wr and rb we shut one of them down.
im satisfied with improvement
Well guys, we have a young team that is light years better than last year's team...... Don't let the fat ass, little dick forum members like Duhoolie get to you over the week. If we go from 1-15 to 6-10 and play competitive all year, then we will know we're on the rise.
The young dudes played well today and should only get better each week.
Regardless-we have ourselves a real football team.
I agree....that was a better game than any we played last year. Kizer will get better, the defense played well.
He will be fine-he did throw that one away over the endzone that last time, so there is improvement already.
No moral victories. However, we look damn good for a young team. Kizer did some rookie things, but will learn from it. Overall a loss, but our defense will be here to stay and Kizer will be our future.
Moral victory? I see improvement.
No...there are no moral victories...but there kindof are with this team.
There's no moral victories but this team is much better than last year. They'll win some games soon.
You see disappointment in kiser face. We will be better. All the analysts expected us to get completely blown out today.
Honestly, this attitude of "well, we lost, but the team is improving" horseshit is what's driving the failure of this team and its fanbase. I'm sorry, but moral victories don't put points in the fucking win column, gentlemen, ACTUAL victories do. Look at successful teams like the Patriots; do you see them patting themselves on the back for some moral victory after a loss? No.
Idk what game you were all watching, but the Browns game I was watching showed a disorganized offense, a porous O-line that we spent bank on to improve in the offseason allowing over 7 sacks on their rookie QB, WR's who couldn't catch the clap while rubbing nuts with Ghoolie, a QB who's probably not going to make it for a full season because he'd rather run outside of the pocket and get continuously sacked for losses instead of throwing the fucking ball away, and a middling D who gives up chunks of yards at a time while failing to wrap up tackles. This shit isn't good, people.
And since when did we start patting ourselves on the back from a loss to one of our biggest perceived rivals in the NFL. I'm sorry, but i'm not going to look on the bright side when we lose to the fucking NY Jets, much less the goddamn Steelers.
So, yeah, you fellas can keep your moral victories; i'll wait to celebrate until we actually get a "W". Peace out.
moral victories don't count after 30 straight years of losing...
At least i'm not the only one with his eyes wide open on this board...

Antonio Brown had 180 receiving yards PLUS a holding call for another 20+ yards, that's 200 yards for their number 1 WR. Yeah, clearly Haden wasn't needed. At one point in the game AB had 11 targets / 11 catches. Pretty eye opening.

Are you fucking kidding me? Dude, just stop. Now you're getting annoying rather than cute.

We needed garrett today
But his replacement was our sack leader...
and threw in a couple more pressures to boot.
Tell me Nassib did not look quick today.

Antonio Brown would have had better numbers against Joe. He absolutely owned Haden.

What oline is supposed to allow their QB six hours.to throw? 4-5 of those sacks are on Kizer. To be expected.
4-5 of those sacks are on Kizer. To be expected.
But considering the options if he'd heaved them, I don't have a problem with most of the times he ate the ball. Steelers looked to be keeping him in the pocket and throw-aways from the pocket constitute grounding.
I'm only going to bang my head against this wall once more......
Aw, man.... you do it so well...

Found success when we cut out the east west game and went downhill. Crow also missed a couple nice holes.
Sure you aren't factoring in sack totals? Sounds like you might be.
no, Im not.
Crowell averages 1.9 yards per rush on 17 carries.
Dayes ran the ball 3 times for 7 yards.
Overall our running backs totaled a grand total of 40 yards on 20 carries.
Based on the numbers, there wasn't much success at all. The numbers are what they are.

I see a shift in the AFCN:
Steelers 11 wins & div
Ravens 9 wins poss. wildcard
Browns 7 wins on upswing
Bungles 4 wins and cellar dwellers for years to come
Someone actually thinks we missed Haden today? Please tell me about a pass he defended...

Kenny Brit dropped one right in the numbers that looked like a long gainer. Anybody at the game that could say how much real estate he had in front of him?
Britt had the best view...

Close to my win prediction: PTG 11; BLT 8; CLE 6; CIN 5
One of the best things I saw today was a rookie QB that was comfortable, showed poise, and was taking shots downfield.
My biggest bitch about Kizer today, was he held the ball too long...however that is is coachable.
I think he was coached... to not make a bad situation worse.
Steelers were definitely playing to keep him in the pocket as you do if a QB's legs can hurt you. You can't "throw it away" when in the pocket. If you do only two things can happen:
- a penalty that is the equivalent of taking the sack, or
- an INT.
I'm looking for us to move the pocket more...
@boo-fagley said:
Kizer ate the ball because he is green. 7 sacks looks great on the stat sheet but that Steelers defense is not that scary.
See above...
And I think you are underestimating their D.
-
They do?
Yes. Heyward, tuitt and hargrave. Be glad tuitt got hurt or kizer would have been on the ground more. He did look solid tho.

And how much of that is due to your O posting leads?
Your D is very fast. Players cover well for each other vs the run. They "swarm" and don't give up chunks on the ground. Crow's long was 6 yd; it looked like it would go for more.
And you are dreaming a homer's dream on the PI call. The hit was hard and early and prevented Njoku from elevating at all... just as your DB intended.
6'4... 37.5" vertical... he would have had a shot at it.

hey, Pittsburgh looks to have a good front 7. turns out, ours might be pretty damn solid as well.

The steelers have been strong against the run for a decade or better. It has little to do with the offense and no i dont believe he would have been able to catch it bump or not. The personal foul on gay was also a damn year later before flags were thrown.

Yeah... withhold your love until there's a bandwagon to hop onto... That's the spirit!
Just another superfan who can go fuck himself...
Superfan? I've been on TBB since 2009 - and became a Browns fan a decade before that - during which time, the Browns have had exactly 2 winning seasons, and yet, here I am, still here on TBB, still a fan of the Browns. That's a long time to hang around in the hopes of jumping on the Browns "bandwagon" as a "superfan" when they finally turn the corner, is it not?
Look, I love the Browns, but i'm not fucking blind at the same time. Why congratulate and pat ourselves on the back when we lose? We lost the game, my friend; to the Steelers no less, so, no, I don't see why I have to hop on the moral victory bandwagon that many people are doing. You play the game to win, not to lose and feel good about it.

Yeah because he never had big games against us with st. Joe playing CB in the past... Didnt he have like 20000 yards against us in December with Haden on the field?
