Fuck them that kneel.  Serve your fucking country.

The problem is that hundreds of people who were veterans even said publicly on the browns facebook page that they would quit watching if our players would kneel. Kenny Britt kneeled a lot last year (even when I saw the rams play).

Remember, Jim Brown publicly told the Browns players not to kneel or disrespect the flag. Hue Jackson said publicly he "did not want our players protesting during the anthem". Does this say anything about Hue's control of the locker room, or do you think this will eventually calm down?

To play devils advocate though, have you heard of job where you discuss your political views in though? Nurses don't talk about political views, or doctors, or lawyers, or even people who work in the film industry. Most people just show up and do their job. The president was out of line, but the last thing I want is the cleveland browns pregame turning into a social justice warrior platform.

It’s the people in the entertainment industry, who think in their little feeble mind that the rest of the world values their opinion.

True, many outspoken people in the entertainment industry, but how many of them talk about politics on set or on the job?

  • If all football players have cte then that means that they're all brain damaged.  Take it for what it's worth.

  • I remember my college Marketing 101 class.

The professor said that as a business entity, you shouldn’t attach a religious or political agenda to your persona.

If you do, you will alienate or offend a large percentage of potential customers.

  • US soldiers swear to defend the Constitution first and foremost.  Their allegiance to the President is explicitly conditional to both regulations and the UCMJ.. and was not present in the oath until 1960, meaning their ONLY allegiance was to the Constitution up to that point.  [Linked is the actual oath that Army enlisted men take.  Read it - you might learn something..]

Seems like it's time to remind the President that the first amendment expressly forbids.... exactly what he's attempting to do: Use the power of government to deliberately exert a chilling effect on free speech.

You, personally, have every right to dislike this speech of the players ----- but you simply do not have the right to actually use the power of federal/state/local government to stop it.  No, you don't.

I'll believe this move of the players merits one iota of actual concern when I see a fight in the stands because someone didn't take off their hat during the anthem.  What's that? It's never happened? Shocking.

Just so it's clear.. this is directly another example of "big government" attempted intrusion.  It's not one side or the other that has a monopoly on it.  Instead of rallying against "All XYZ" who do something that "my side" would never do -- time to accept the reality that both do it.

More directly back to the topic... Remember that MLK's movement was just as much economic as it was about the ballot box.

  • Political Board exists for a reason. We don't need this shit on the main board-mods please move this.

    Helluva post, Unsym...

YO... MODS... please do it while it's still civil...

  • Agreed on the move

  • I will expound on my statement above:

"This move of the players will merit one iota of actual concern when I see a fight in the stands because someone didn't take off their hat during the anthem."

    Translation:

Hey, you, getting angry over this.  I fully expect you to apply EXACTLY the same logic to every single person in the stadium - fans and employees alike.

Why, exactly, does every other human being in that stadium get a free pass from you to be however they want to be whenever they want to .... except the players?

    Players are people too.

And they're not your trained monkey.. word chosen deliberately.

  • Heres my solution....let players walk back into the lockrroom for the anthem. Problem solved. They get their meaningless protest and all the little snowflake doturds who's brains go blue screen at the sight of a colored boy kneeling get a clean field of view.

    Easy peasy....i should be emperor

  • That's exactly what happened today during Tits-Hawks.. you may already be emperor?

  • All hail the??

  • Dilly dilly

Just don’t make fun of his new clothes.

  • Here's where I stand on this. I hate when they kneel. I disagree not only with the approach but also the existence of the purported systemic injustice they are protesting. I am a mostly Republican and a definite conservative AND I BELIEVE IN OUR CONSTITUTION. You know, that piece of parchment that gives us FREEDOM of speech and expression. If you are a vet firstly thank you. Secondly whether you are a vet or support our vets you have to support freedom. We cannot only support freedom when  it aligns with our own opinion. The second we do we are no longer a free nation we are on the path to those we fight. Now often I hear people try to refute this based on the fact the players are working. I again have to disagree. If I were at work and they played an anthem I disagree with I'd sit and I would not be fired. That is a lot different than if you were on the clock giving speeches.  Now relative to the Presidents tweets I'm sorry but many of them are inappropriate. Hell I often agree with things he says and might expect myself to tweet it but not the leader of America!! He needs to grow the fuck up and act like a professional and president. I respect the office, agree with many of his policies but  his approach leaves a lot to be desired.

You're an asshole.  This is the oath of enlistment all branches take:

The Oath of Enlistment (for enlisted):

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

So... you are against the players who choose to speak, but you support the right of "people" to freely speak.  Except for the players, of course.. because to you, they aren't people any more.

And you don't recognize the inherent contradiction between "supporting freedom when it doesn't align with your opinion" and "telling the players that they don't get to have an opinion" ?

    Got it!

News flash: The fact that you only want to give the label of "people" to protest that you approve of...... shows that you don't actually believe one word you posted.

The only issue at hand is whether or not you support governmental clampdowns on the expression of the players.  And frankly, if you do, everything you posted about believing in the constitution is complete and total bullshit.
