I realize Sashi Brown is an idiot but I say no way to the Joe Thomas trade. Let possibly the best player at his position ever to play in a Browns uniform retire a Cleveland Brown.

  • This is another in the long line of classic "My team could use an All-Pro, surely the browns would trade him for our backup punter" articles.

I'd put nothing past sashi. he's made a few smart moves and a few questionable moves.

we're "building for the future", but I doubt we'd trade joe because he's a fan favorite, and we'd have no one to replace him.

He won't trade Joe because at least one thing this OWNER has that he can and will do right is to veto any attempt to trade Joe.

  • "Trade Joe" talk is actually a codified part of the NFL schedule. Has been for years now. Not happening... far more likely we extend him.

Trade him and you have to either spend more in FA to even approach replacing him or a higher pick than he fetches for the chance to replace him.

Then again... I did just buy his jersey... 😮

  • Thomas play is in decline and it shows. A first round pick was be a very fair offer.

  • He's helped us win so many games.

  • Ain't gonna happen for many reasons. One not yet mentioned is the Browns could kiss the fan base "goodbye" if they traded Joe.

How and when does it show. Examples, please.

Hemp-roid..#1. JT's play is no where near declining..Ask any expert with PFF scores in mid to high 80's at LT..#2. You really trust our FO luck on picking a 1st round pick to replace JT? #3. I. Crowell is the guy SB tries to dump at deadline imo..Trading JT, am just not buying or selling any of it..#73(gumby)

  • Dismantling an Oline in midstream season doesnt sound too smart when you have a rookie QB in the Sockpit.

  • I'm on board with trading JT for a high pick........except we don't have anybody to put in his place.  So, I guess I'm not on board.

Hasnt stopped them yet......not even a lil blip.....just ask the 22 starters that gave up their jobs for unproven rookies.....

    lmao...

Not sure which is funnier... the "decline" or that a LT in "decline" would fetch a #1.

Dont need one.....its pretty obvious that we've cut better players than their predecessors.....and we've released tons of guys who would have started OR provided quality depth for this team.....and we've given roster spots to many many players who have not earned them on the field....and when one of these rookies fails or gets hurt, there is NO go to guy waiting....no vets to show them how it's done....nothing....

Again....player development is more important to the FO than winning is....clearly....and that would be more acceptable if we were investing in developing players who looked like they actually belong on the team(or if we had a player or 2 that look like they are getting better and will be NFL caliber starters)........but. instead, we are keeping and playing guys(for too long) who obviously cant get it done.....and we are stubbornly sticking with them, when the whole world knows they bite.......and we are consistenly putting them in position to fail and not coaching to their strengths....and not giving them what they need to succeed.....

I see some of our TOP picks are being mishandled....Ogbah to LB, then DE, then LB, then DE....Schobert thrust into starting role as OLB, Peppers playing center field, Kizer(and Kessler) starting too soon, without weapons, RB's at WR.....

Who is coaching Kizer?......Certainly not Hue, he has a game to run.......(isnt he a QB whisperer???).....I see Kizer tanking on a series and then sitting on the bench(alone) waiting for his next opportunity.....and lets be clear, KESSLER was WAY better as a rookie than Kizer is......Hogan too....yet they want me to believe that Kizer "earned" the start and his short comings are do to being a rookie.....

RGIII made the earth move for Hue......Kessler was the "trust me on this one" pick.....and now Kizer is "the" guy".......smfh

Thats 3 QB's in 20 games, that this team(coach, FO) insisted were gonna be good.....yet, none have been developed......cause "next years" draft is more important than seeing if Kessler or Hogan can make a second year step.....and next years draft is more important than handling your rookie QB correctly.....

Honestly cannot take any more of this ......

Ha!....Yep.....and I was right there with you......

You know, I used to dig deep for nuggets and stats to convince myself(and others) we were on the right track, but now when I do that, it scares me even more.....

  • Oh ye of little faith. We are a year and 1/4 into the 3-5 year plan, all without yet playing with an intact rebuilt D. Patience grasshoppers, patience. 😁

  • Here is a look at 2016 and 2017 top free agents we brought in(and lost)......for example.....contributing players are in red...

2016 Signed: Robert Earth Mover Griffin(gone), Demario Thomas(gone), Rahim Moore(gone), Justin Tuggle(gone), Alvin Bailey(gone), Don Jones(gone), Terrell Pryor(gone), Austin Paztor(gone).....and Jamal Taylor(the one and only still here....and kind of sucking right now)

2016 Lost: Mack, Schwartz, Gabriel, Benjiman, Robertson, Dansby, Gipson and Bademosi.....who are all contributing to better teams....and several are playing at a very high level right now....

Also lost Whitner, Bowe, Soloman and Manziel who all make sense....

So....2016....we let a bunch of good ones go and have benefitted exactly zero from the ones we signed.....and of the ones I see gone, Im not sure we have placed a "better" player at any of those positions.......I see 2 decent WR's(we have none).....I see 2 DB's that would, at least, add quality depth(and one who woulda started)....I see 2 LB's we coulds used.....

2017 signed.....J. Tretter(who isnt that good), Keven Zietler and Kenny Britt(terrible)

2017 we traded for Asspiler(gone), Calvin Pryor(gone), Sammy Coates (ugh)

2017 lost/released/traded....Greco(depth & versatility), Demario Thomas(last years "big" signing....traded for garbage and replaced by his backup Carder....as per usual), Pryor, Haden, Paztor.....

So....in 2 years we have signed or traded for 15 veteran players and have exactly 3 contributing(and our team bites....my grandma could contribute)....to me, that represents a team that is clueless...
