Wow, we are top-ten defense according to ESPN, and all of our "starters" have not played together yet.

    20th in pass defense.

    7th against the run.

We have 12 sacks so far, only 16 all of last season.

We also let a couple of weaker offenses run up 30 points on us.

    1 Denver 1043 260.8 840 210.0 203 50.8 74 18.5
    2 Miami 1238 309.5 936 234.0 302 75.5 67 16.8
    3 Washington 1245 311.3 890 222.5 355 88.8 89 22.3
    4 Atlanta 1273 318.3 901 225.3 372 93.0 89 22.3
    5 Cincinnati 1314 262.8 798 159.6 516 103.2 83 16.6
    6 Pittsburgh 1381 276.2 698 139.6 683 136.6 89 17.8
    7 New Orleans 1499 374.8 1061 265.3 438 109.5 78 19.5
    8 Cleveland 1524 304.8 1141 228.2 383 76.6 124 24.8
    9 Chicago 1525 305.0 1024 204.8 501 100.2 124 24.8
    10 Minnesota 1546 309.2 1146 229.2 400 80.0 93 18.6

Surprises?  McCourty.  Holy goodness, looking good dude.

Schobert? Media was talking about our other linebackers.  Pleasant surprise.

Any other takes?  I say run the ball more and stop the turnovers, especially INTs.  Give this Defense some field advantage and let 'em rest a little and they could win some games for us.

Wait, am I lobbying for a game manager QB?

You may be right... new OC has the O rolling. D is coming around with Burfect back. Plus BLT has no O, and PTG is floundering and opening the door.

Must be fake news. WE all know we've added no talent as our FO is incapable of recognizing it. Plus Hue can't coach and can't ID coaching talent. /s

Other nominees for surprises? I'll throw out Covey. Flashes of excelling atop a pretty solid base performance. Also Burgess for his fill-in stint for Collins. And I'll throw in a Kindred honorable mention at no extra charge.

As for Game Managing QB... that's the recipe, but you need to lobby for a run game as well...

Those sacks are purely on willuams and his scheme. Without garrett we have no one that can flash 1v1 against an o line so williams blitz schemes are almost entirely responsible for any oressure we've generated so far. Run stopping is nice tho. I will Shmucking hang my hat on that. Once we get  garrett back full time, i hope they keep nassib in there as the run stopping DE.

Yeah, I was.  They had been lackluster up until we faced them.   The Browns...the cure for your slump....

You know, I don't doubt it. Steelers and Ravens seem vulnerable.

Yes, Coley was a sweet pick-up.  Burgess is another bright spot, good one.  Kid has the pedigree...uncle was a NFL baller I think.

Basically true.. only non-Garrett sack I can recall where a DL won was Covey... Week 1 vs. PTG IIRC.
