AJ McCarron

Andy Dalton blows and McCarron can’t beat him out.
Andy Dalton blows and McCarron can’t beat him out.
^^^ This the discussion on ESPN said it best. The Bengals view Dalton as an an "average" QB at best. McCarron can't beat him out, and we're willing to toss more at the Bengals for McCarron than the 49ers did for Garropolo? Insanity.
an insult to the Stooges...
Btw, mccarron is not a horrible idea just wondering what we were gonna give fir him
WAY too much.... Sometimes the best trades are the ones you never make...
I'm getting close to saying blow the entire dysfunctional mess up again....

You guys do realize the story is bogus right? Not that that has any chance of keeping you from your precious misery, but try to at least have the facts of the matter on your side.
-
Yes the trade attempt with the Bungles was real. As well as Braylee Jackson slamming the FO on Twitter. She says you can't do anything without picking up a phone. True.
And I can't help but wonder what all this did for Kizer's confidence levels.
A huge disconnect between Stoshthepudpuller and Hue has been going on for some time now.
Thank you Jimmy stupidhillbilly!

Sashi took a lesson from Hue on clock management.
Sashi took a lesson from Hue on clock management.
You win. We can stop playing now.

Here's the problem. It doesn't MATTER whose fault it was, it's just another example of how we screwed the donkey and we look absolutely ridiculous...again.
I pretty much hate everything to do with our team right now. The thought of watching Kizer play more games makes me want to vomit, and what's worse is the impending feeling of doom due to the fact we're probably going to blow it all up again. I'm not saying it's what I want, but I feel it coming.

Like I posted in the other thread, according to ESPN and Schefter
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Browns attempted to trade for Bengals No. 2 QB A.J. McCarron before Tuesday's deadline.
ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Bengals actually believed a deal was done, but that the Browns ended up not approving it with the league. It's the first we've heard of McCarron since August, where his name was a mainstay in trade rumors. The Browns are casting a wide net at quarterback, but continue to lack decisiveness as they search for an answer under center. McCarron is headed for restricted free agency next offseason.ESPN's Adam Schefter reports the Browns believed they completed their acquisition of Bengals QB A.J. McCarron before Tuesday's deadline, but that the league would not allow it to go through.
Schefter reports the Browns notified the NFL of the deal "moments too late," and that the league would not budge. ESPN Clevelad's Tony Grossi went as far as to report that the Browns were "celebrating" McCarron's acquisition and "forgot to call in the deal before the deadline." That seems a bit hard to believe, though we really want to. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports the Browns were ready to part with second- and third-round picks. Coach Hue Jackson was McCarron's coordinator his first two years in the league. The Browns have lost control of their quarterback narrative, letting their rivals and media paint them as hapless in their pursuit of an answer under center. It was a desperation move that backfired, and now the FO look like fools...again.

Desperation and the usual too little too late. Once again, the whole football world is having a giggle fit because of the Browns.

I know the Bengals screwed it up on their end, thank Christ. It may have been an act of mercy. McCarron would be an improvement here but a 2 and a 3 for him is outrageous and the FO was willing to put that up for him.
-
Sorry I wont get to see you guys this year.....your naughty front office did not send in the papers in time ......
Mrs McCarron

This is weird all the way around. McCarron has never done anything that I have seen to be worth a second and third round pick. If he did somehow come in and get them a win or two it would do nothing but get them a slightly worse draft position. Don’t understand the deal but it is typical Browns FO to mess it up. Browns need a franchise QB and McCarron is not it. If he was, he’d be starting in Cinci.

Reading through this thread is pretty funny in retrospect. Man, some of you guys love to believe pretty outlandish statements at face value.

1.) Can anyone tell me the "actual" process it takes for a trade to become official in the NFL?
2.) The Browns have completed at least 9 trades dealing with players including last year for Collins at the trade deadline. They understand how the process works
3.) From what I gather, it sounds as though the browns signed their side of the paperwork. Sent it over to the Bengals to confirm and sign their side of the deal. Instead, the Bengals just signed their own paperwork without the Browns signature and sent it into the league office. By the time it was realized what had occurred, it was too late. It is my understanding that BOTH teams have to sign the documents and return them for confirmation.
4.) The Browns are getting blamed for this mainly because they are the Browns. But I think this is the Bengals fault, if not more, than the Browns. A statement by the organization needs to be made. If you have to throw the Bengals under the bus than go for it. They are divisional rivals and at this point who cares. The bengals have screwed up a bunch of trades, including this past years draft where they again didn't correctly sign paperwork but no one wants to remember that.
5.) Thank god this trade did not go through. It was a clear overpay by the FO to appease Jackson. The FO clearly did not want McCarron, especially at that price. Sometimes the best deals are the ones that failed (see Indians Lucroy trade from 2016). Hue is starting to stress about his job and is becoming desperate. This attempted move screams of that.
6.) During this bye week the FO, Hue, and the Haslams need to sit down and have a nice long talk about what's going to happen at the end of the season. Good or Bad. They need to come out and make a statement on whatever that is and/or begin the process. They need to calm the fans and coaching staff down.
7.) Tony Grossi is poison to the people of Cleveland. His comments about not getting the paperwork in on time because the Browns were "Celebrating" are completely BOGUS! This has garnered national attention and have made the Browns organization look worse for false accusations. I'm not saying he has to be a homer. But false reporting using your twitter account is poor journalism. He has an agenda and it is very clear.
8.) I hope Kizer and the rest of this team just go bonkers the second half and do something crazy like go 5-3. Us against the world mentality. I'm just so tired of the BS from national media based on what MKC and Grossi say. they are both morons.

Great post man
-
Well Bigelow I think we all want the rest of the team to go nuts over the last half. Of course if this is a guy that Hugh Jackson really wanted and the front office decided to slap him down I'd say that's a red flag. Your offense of coordinator and your head coach want a particular quarterback that he thinks will be the guy. And you don't want to overpay? Because you have three crap quarterbacks on the roster already?

So Haslam is meddling again, to the point we nearly lost a 2nd and 3rd round pick to a divisional rival for a QB that the Bengals don’t think is better than Andy Dalton

As far as I’m concerned Sashi Brown is a hero for jumping on that freaking hand grenade

Right on, and this is exactly why the Browns brass needs to make some sort of statement. Screw the proper chain of command or "etiquette", that's awful reporting that needs to be called out. It's very ethically dubious and should be noted as such. We got enough problems to let something like this which obviously isn't true, or at minimum is extremely misleading.

Explain how it is bogus.

That's it ! Attack the media. They are the ones who signed Kizer, Kessler and Hogan and slept on Watson and Wentz.
Britt ?....yeah, the media signed him.
The media is not the problem.

OK, you have made these statements of what the facts are. (and by the way....Grossi made his comments....reasonable comments...based on what facts had been given to him at the time).
Where is the authority....the proof of the facts as you state them? Not that I am saying you are wrong....its just that there is a whole lot of conflicting information out there now about what truly happened.
