  • From today's Chicago Tribune...

Mitch Trubisky may have can-do spirit, but it seems he can't do it

    Bernie Lincicome Chicago Tribune

No two words are as incompatible as “Bears highlights.”

The phrase joins the dysfunctional family of modern oxymorons like “rap music” and “alternative fact.” More to the point of this column, “quality quarterback.”

The Bears do not have any, which is as much a tired tradition as a forlorn wish.

This was to be the one, Mitchell Trubisky, so coveted by the Bears that intricate draft day maneuvering was required to steal him away from no one, to pluck him 197 places ahead of where the Patriots once found Tom Brady.

As the second top choice, expectations for young Mitch were grandly modest, to restore a forlorn franchise to relevance, win the hearts of a desolately loyal fan base, justify the fickle faith of an overmatched general manager and prick the weary enthusiasm of a lame duck coach.

So far, well, not so much.

Yesterday is not too soon to give up on young Mitch. Draft day was not too soon. Still, hope is a cruel playmate.

His feet. Let’s start with his feet. Happy feet. Young Mitch has yet to throw a pass when he is not jiggling on his toes like a toddler learning to walk.

    It gets worse... http://www.chicagotribune.com/sports/football/bears/ct-spt-mitch-trubisky-faults-bears-lincicome-20171202-story.html

Mild compared to the pasting Kizer is getting here....

From the article- here's part of Mitch's problem...   Dowell Loggains, the offensive coordinator — talk about your oxymorons

MHO? Browns fans would have been a tad more patient with the local kid...

Kizer is from Ohio.   Or kind of like how most Browns fans were patient with Hoyer after the center spot went to hell.

  • Trubisky had all of 13 college starts.

Many would say that he had no business starting NFL games so early in his career because of this, others would say he had no business being drafted so high because of this.

    They'd both be right.

  • As much as people are shitting on Kizer, at least we has played better than Mitch.

Kizer is the poster-child for a guy who had no business leaving early for the NFL...

It would have helped if he went to a team who has an established starting QB, like Seattle, Pittsburgh, etc...

Instead he ends up in the worst scenario for a raw kid like him, a floundering team who rushes him onto the field WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too early and surrounds him with questionable talent.

Almost all of what I just said about Kizer applies to Trubisky.

  • I'm sure the bears would've been way easier on Kizer if he was 0-11 with them.

Strange. That seems to be some of what I was saying to those who wanted him here instead of Garrett.

And I'm saying similar things about Allen this year. Way overrated.

  • over-rated as in frosh year freeze ups i.e. wentz and goff?

laughable. u'd be lucky to swing a dead cat this year and hit someone with the QB bloodline as trub or the other 2 mentioned above.

    thanks noodles.

You want us to draft Garrett again? This time over Allen?

"Baptism by fire" is not a great thing in the NFL for a young inexperienced QB especially on a crappy team.......which is who drafts them.

And the reference to Mitch and Tom by the writer is basically  irrelevant.

  • Did you see Doctson go up into the stratosphere and snag a TD? Coleman meanwhile has vaginitis.

Who is this Allen guy you speak of? Since I'm familiar with the area- he needs to head west into the Snowy Range, and never to be heard from again..... Jump off disaster Wall. (look it up)

And Tour- in the spirit of the season- it's QB time in the city. If somehow we can land Mayfield (makes JT Barrett look like a bum) or Rosen- and get Barkley as a bonus well.. happy, happy, joy, joy joy.

  • I wish people would lay off Trubisky. He didn't get the benefit of receiving all the starting reps before the season, did he? He hasn't started virtually every game this year, right? He's not exactly on the most talented team. Give it a rest, Chicago.

People might say something similar about Kizer, but a lot of anger surrounding him was the red zone turnovers. Those just absolutely kill you. You go from about to put points on the board, to trotting your defense BACK out there, and it's so difficult to get that momentum back. Kizer also has some truly baffling plays that make you question if he "has it". You guys obviously remember the SNAFU against Detroit when we ran out of time before half, right? Well, not only did Kizer audible to the qb draw from the THREE with no timeouts, he failed to run it into the end zone after making such a nice run right before that mental screw up. He had ONE guy between him and the goal line. All he had to do was cut back to the inside and he would've scored. The entire field was open. And he does this ALL THE TIME. He'll have a nice run and slide 15 yards early. He'll cut the wrong way, or go the opposite way from his blockers. Remember the option play screw up? Another example. I worry that he's just a nervous kid who falters when he's needed the most (ahem, red zone) and that's not something you want in a QB.

All that being said, Kizer is playing somewhat better. He's got his favorite target back in Coleman, and probably his NEW favorite in Gordon. Perhaps now we can run it even better since we have some play makers. I'll be happy if Kizer has another no turnover game, and that's a tall order this week. I still think we're beating the Bears in a few weeks, and then Chicago will REALLY be all over Trubisky.

More like Vaselineitis. Ball just slips through his vagina hands.

Mitch has better stats than Kizer.

Kizer has started a couple of more games than Trubisky, and Kizer has a better OL.

I won’t form an opinion on either guy until around this time next year.

No, he's prolly just doing the bus stop tour telling little kids there's no such thing as Santa Claus.
