They must have a terrible analytics department as well or something. . .

Did they (Patriots)not watch any of his tape with the Browns? How many bounced off his hands for interceptions? How many easy catches did he drop?  Well, and this is a comment to Ghoolie- it costs the Patsies nothing to check him out- the Browns are paying him to play for New England. Desperation move by the Patriots Tom.

from NFL.com:  "Hauling in just 18 receptions for 233 yards and two touchdowns -- that works out to $583,333 per catch -- Britt made a bigger mark with a string of ugly drops and pressing questions about his desire from the coaching staff.

The Patriots don't need Britt to serve as a leader. They're simply looking for a guy who can step in as the team's fourth or fifth option for quarterback Tom Brady. Brandin Cooks, Danny Amendola and Chris Hogan all hold vast priority over Britt, but he could steal snaps from Phillip Dorsett if effective."

BTW, they're already down Edelman, Mitchell, and Bennett as WR TE. Amendola is playing with a bum knee, and Hogan is hurting too.

And so the Hoorta excuses start. Look dude, the Browns and this Dorsey axxhole are going to get another bitchslapping with Britt. If, as axxhole Dieken (a BIG part of why the Browns suck) says Britt is cancer, Belichik wouldn't bother with him. Belichik is a man of great accomplishment, he doesn't  " bring people in to take a look at them". Hoorta, you gave me this same bullschidt with Belichik took Dillon. On and on and on you went about how Belichik is going to learn something.. and what happened................. Dillion went to 2 Superbowls and was a great asset.

Make no mistake, Belichik will wipe his a$$ with Dorsey on this Britt acquisition.

It amazes me, the guy is the greatest football coach of all time, FAR FAR better than Paul Brown, and STILL, you think you are going to teach him something, as if he is too stupid to know what players to spend time on.

This Dorsey guy is another Phil Sewage. One day on the job and he got it shoved up his a$$. Idiot franchise. But hey............ I get it Larry, anyone who is good just won't fit into our mold.........anyone who is colorful is just not going to fit into our system.............we only want choir boys.

Britt averaged 35 catches per year when we signed him.  Nothing stellar.

He was a slacker here.  Pick a reason...

If there's something the Patriots actually have, is prestige. And sadly that's something the Browns don't have. If you get a chance to play with them, and with one of the greatest coach and quaterback ever with an opportunity to get a ring, well, it's different than trying to get 4 wins. So anyone will work harder in a team that year after year is contending than in a team that is doing exactly the opposite. That's the main reason for the tremendous salary cap space we have currently: the FO didn't want to risk on taking many players that could be on risk of not giving a damn about the team and worrying about their paycheck. They took Britt, you can see how he contributed.

Patriots' receivers' corp is depleted in a team primarily based on offense, they are experts on taking receivers and making them contribute in minor roles (see Floyd last year). The only problem for the offense to work perfectly is that they are losing receivers, you cannot coach health, they need replacements, a "next man up". They pay a low price for a suitable #3-#4 WR, with a low risk 2 year contract.

What part of they brought him in to be their 4th or 5th receiver didn't you get? He's a bum, nothing more than a warm body for Bill. Here's part of the problem- Hue doesn't hold anyone responsible for anything. Bill doesn't put up with any BS. Britt steps out of line (like he was doing in Cleveland), he's gone.

He will contribute. That is the only point that matters. THis bullschidt about what we pay is meaningless. You jackoffs jumped up and down in your own jism about what a great deal butt Oiler was, and how brilliant this worked out for us. The bottom line is, if the guy performs at a high level, and coffee fetcher Dorsey let him go.........it is yet another slap in the face at how fukcing stupid the Browns are.

THe guy makes playoff touchdowns and the story says...Browns cut this guy.....again, the world will laugh at Cleveland, nobody will give a crap about what he is getting paid. Letting talent get away, and wasting draft picks on schidt like Garrett are examples of why the Browns are the worst team in the history of the NFL.

Actually Tom, newsflash from cleveland.com Britt pussed out and asked to get cut. He'll contribute dropping passes and continuing to stink. Only way the Browns are going to get ragged out about it is if by some miracle Britt reverts to his contract year form. And if he does- well- the guy tanked on purpose just to get out of Cleveland.

"NFL Network also reported that Britt asked to be let go by the Browns last week, and they granted his request. A nine-year veteran, Britt cleared waivers on Monday and was free to sign with any team."

Regarding Osweiler, that actually has worked out ok. We bought a second round pick from the Texans- and with Watson hurt it's going to be a high one. He's started one game for Denver, and sucked worse than Kizer. No one at the time though Brokster was going to be the Browns QB long term. While I'm at it, your guy Paxton Lynch pretty much sucks too.

  • Britt will do well in New England, simply because if he doesn't, he will have to deal with God ( Belichik ). Exactly, what has been already said. He was here to get a paycheck...nothing more. He didn't give a rat's butt about catching passes or winning. I'm thrilled the loser is gone.

A dropped pass or two - maybe ONE fumble - and he will be banished from NE.  It has happened to other players.  Put the ball on the ground - one way or the other - and you are out the door.

  • This is definitely an interesting signing for the Pats. Other than Gronk, they really don't have a bigger type receiver, and Britt MIGHT fit in very well with them. Don't forget that Britt was hurt during preseason and in the early part of the year with nagging stuff, and during the second part of the year he appeared to improve when his number was called. Don't get me wrong, he didn't come close to living up to his contract, but Kizer definitely missed him on multiple plays when he was WIDE open, and Brady won't be making that mistake. Additionally, Brady throws a MUCH more "catchable ball" than Kizer, and Brady is way more likely to hit Britt in stride and not low or behind him. Britt is also likely to be open with the Pats, as their offense does a nice job of scheming people open and finding mismatches.

Bottom line, I could see Britt getting cut in 2 weeks because of his attitude and poor performance, or I can see him fitting right in and being valuable. It's a smart move by the Pats to kick the tires on someone who never fit in with the Browns.

One thing I will agree with Ghoolie on, Britt will have to drop the attitude in NE, or he'll be out the door faster than you can say "Belichick". Dillon was a problem in Cincinnati, but Bill got a couple decent seasons out of him.

This is definitely an interesting signing for the Pats.

There's absolutely no doubt his attitude will have to change, but the funny thing is...he KNOWS that.  He's probably going to show up bright-eyed and bushy tailed because he knows he has a chance to get the ball.  Conversely, he's not guaranteed to see the field either.  If he shows up and he's not what the Pats want, they'll send him packing immediately.  They really don't care, LOL.  But if he pulls that crap where he drops a pass and it pops to a defender for a pick, he's GONE baby.
