    # Never Trump- says card carrying Republican....

So, by your reasoning, Mayfield "regressed" the second half of the game, very badly. Same opponent, same players around him.

Darnold don't, and can't. None of the three match his athleticism, or his arm. Now, does Darnold see the field better than Allen? beats me - different offenses.

Not saying I'm right, but that is how I see it. That's all.

So by my reasoning Allen can hit the broadside of a barn 5   out of ten tries.. you want to do one half of football to say Mayfield isn't very good- I have 5 games on Allen that say

    HE SUCKS

I'm just so crushed Cal- that you can't evaluate talent if it bit you in the a$$. and as a Wyoming homer if you read Gip's thread- I have Allen as the #5 qb, ahead of Lamar Jackson- (JT Barrett too)  which isn't saying much.

  • Fair enough - see my thread on maybe not drafting a qb in the first round after all. Do you still have ryan leaf's poster on yer wall?

I wanted Wentz last time, totally, didn't want Goff. I'm not THAT far off. and do have a nice day.

  • I see I haven't missed much on my brief hiatus.

  • not really. everything that can be said, has been said. and it isn't even Feb.

Has anyone said "He sucks" yet? 😳

    He will in Feb. too.😛

  • there were haters of Wentz, too. Happens every year.

I just watch Allen play, and though he may take some time to start in the NFL, I think he has the highest upside of any qb in the draft.

Best pocket passer? of course not. But he has very serious skills - NFL scouts know it. He does have weaknesses, every single qb does.

    Weaknesses

When rolling out, will float it a little too much when taking shots down the field. Allows passing windows to close quickly when he short arms his release. Needs a little more consistency on anticipatory throws outside the hash. Will get caught locking in on target bringing secondary charging in to make a play on the ball. Inconsistent footwork from the pocket. Arm gets ahead of his feet even with time to come to balance. Needs to pick up pace of his post-snap setup. Has to put a little extra air on his field-side throws. Can be a little flat with his downfield, touch throws. Has to eliminate the occasional nonchalant throw into tight quarters. Doesn't look comfortable yet with bootleg rollouts to the left. Broke a bone in his throwing wrist in October sidelining him for eight weeks. Dealt with arm and shoulder injuries as a baseball player in high school. Lower level of competition could cause issues for him adapting to NFL speed.

actually, you are being anass. Guess who agrees with me? I listen to McShay, and you slur, are no Todd McShay. He says Allen is one of the most talented qb's in the last few years.

LOL, I never said Allen doesn't have any talent- it's just that around 3-4 other QBs in the 2018 draft class have more talent. BTW, McShay said "one of the most" not "the most".   Sure his receivers dropped passes, and McShay didn't mention the ones they couldn't catch, because Josh rifled them 10' over their heads.

  • not really. everything that can be said, has been said. and it isn't even Feb.

    I'll drink to that..

The longer the Browns have sucked... the earlier the upcoming draft talk has gotten old... especially when it comes to the QB prospects.

But soon will come fresh material from the Sr. Bowl and The Combine...

... which we will quickly exhaust.

fair enough. but go back and read - I said "one of the most"  The fun part is, we'll see how it goes in the draft, and the year or two afterwards. and any qb we do draft, I will root for him to be great... but it won't be rosen. As a human being, HE SUCKS.

lol. have a nice day. (NOTE : I didn't write the article.)

  • that is what this analyst guy says. I'm no analyst, etc etc, but the ability to throw as he does isn't all just arm strength. He's a tall, extremely athletic, very, very smart kid - loved by all in his hometown, college, fanbase, coaches, fellow players...

given a chance - he can dominate a game. Even the best of qb's don't dominate games when they don't have those matchups that at least give them a chance on most plays.

I"m hoping for an all-around leader, who loves the game, inspires all Browns fans with his play, and doesn't make an butt of himself off the field..who is durable, and hopefully, at least a good bit, sees the field like a Kosar, and has the heart of Kosar and Sipe.

I just see Allen, Rudolph, Darnold and a few others later in the draft, and a few who are returning to school for their senior years, like Clayton Thorson and Drew Lock.  Allen does get rid of the ball maddingly (to defenders), quickly.

It's just me, I don't see completion percentage as being the end all indicator of greatnessin the jump to the NFL. Kessler had an outstanding completion percentage in college....but his leadership is outstanding. Darnold is also outstanding in leadership - they inspiregreat things from the players around them, they inspire their entire college/town/fanbase...it's who they are as people - they LOVE the game.

HERE IS THE THING - experts get it wrong a lot of the time - will a top qb prospect see the field/process the play happeninig..... like a Kosar or Brady or Peyton Brees etc etc... when he gets to the NFL? maybe not. That is probably the biggest question. ME, I'd love to have Kosar sit with three or four of the top qbs in this draft, and have him tell me who he thinks sees the field like he does. LOL.

But the more I watch Rudolph - he is dramatically underrated. But I don't see him as the best qb in this draft. Here's a guy who thinks Rudolph and Jackson are the top two qbs...

nope - not seeing THAT at all.

    https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/draft/news/2018-nfl-draft-prospect-rankings-mason-rudolph-reclaims-top-qb-spot-roquan-smith-rising/

Nah. Whoever the Browns pick, they need to have him be that end-all-the-nonsense great player that starts the winning going...which obviously to everybody...isn't Kizer. Poor Kizer - got benched in college in a non-pro style offense. That isn't good. He's good enough to keep around though, as a backup. He just doesn't see the field. Maybe he can improve that....but I think it's innate - you can or can't. Just my dumb opinion, that's all.

Hoorta, in the south..When all else has failed 🙂 We go to the jukebox right under Hanks Family Tradition & grab another quarter

  • Just listened to Dustin and Fox interview Josh Allen. Came away very impressed. Definitely did his research on the Browns. Granted it’s just an interview, but wow.

  • I just think this kid is the guy. But if we go with Darnold, I'm still good. He admits he has things to work on, accuracy wise.

Maybe he likes to wear brown? Perhaps he doesn't want to redo his whole wardrobe?

Perhaps he just wants to be known as being the number one overall draft pick and been paid as such. That's more likely.

  •  Allen and his agent will be wearing dog bone necklaces and barking on ESPN if it means getting picked at one.
