Todd Haley

The Browns Board

  • I love the hire not because of his roaring success as OC in both Arizona and Pittsburgh, but because he and his wife got in a bar fight on New Years Eve {after the Browns game) and he was mysteriously injured.

We need a bar fight mentality. I think both of our coordinators have that now.  Someone please get the fucking talent now.

So now Hue is NOT the OC.  This paves the way for his firing during the ensuing season should things not go well.

    It must...

Hopefully I'll live long enough to find out what that's like.   🙂

  • One thing I haven't seen mentioned yet, though I hardly pored over every post, is that ,while Haley is almost certainly realistic enough to know the browns aren't going to be an immediate contender, he probably feels a burning desire to stick it to Pittsburgh. That's a great thing for us.

But that desire will be useless unless he performs his task at a high level.   And, as someone said.....he won't have BR here to run his offense for him.  We won't know who we will have, be it a veteran QB, a  rookie QB......or maybe HE will think that Kizer is the second coming of BR.  But...I suspect he is smart enough to see Kizer as most of us see him. i.e.  NOT NFL starting QB material.

Anecdotal. Also, guy has coached some good offenses. Most of the guys who are perfectionist coaches are seen as being dicks.

Haley has coached some great offenses. Fact.

We should definitely not try to sign the best RB in the league... a player we can absolutely afford... away from an interdivisional rival.

You just can't make this sh!t up.

I'm with you on this one Tour. Two year max contract. Bell's a proven commodity, Barkley not so much. I see the morality policeman is already against it. Haley will have a ton of input wether we go after him or not.

I’ve been following the Browns since 2012, so you and most on here probably know more than me but has there actually  been a time when we had this much cap space and this much draft capital?

Browns, no. Cowboys probably did after the Hershel Walker trade.

    @d-bone said:

Just to be accurate he was HC at Kansas City. OC in Arizona under Wisenhunt. Assistant coach under Parcells.

    -OR-

Could you imagine what Haley could do with a dedicated weapon and character guy, a leader by example and someone who is just scratching the surface of what's there? ... yeah, I'm talking about Saquon Barkley. If Haley can make Bell's dumb azz that good, imagine a player like SB and an All-Pro Offensive line with weapons at QB and WR?

League source tells me head coach Hue Jackson WILL cede play-calling duties to Haley. Big hire for the Browns.

WTF would a "league source" know anything about Hue ceding anything?

We've had cap space for years, and this is the fifth time the Browns have had two first rounders this decade. (Last draft the Browns ended up with three)

But this is the best cap space/draft capital the Browns have ever had.

Not long ago we had the highest paid D in the league and still had cap space.

As long as you do not have your franchise QB, you have cap space.

Haley sounds like the perfect OC for Rosen.

LOL, so you got any better suggestions for an Offensive coordinator oh wise one? Didn't think so. He's out there somewhere in the mysterious vapor of Ghooliedom. He calls a dumb play or two and Haley is garbage. You're going to be out of a job trolling when the Browns actually start winning.

Way too early to start judging the new coaching staff and front office. Free Agency and the Draft will tell me a a lot more.

he was head coach at K.C and took em to the playoffs with Matt Cassell as the Q.B so that may shut up some of the nay sayers that it was Warner  and bb that made him look good

KC...Arizona...  I knew it was one of those red teams.   🙂

  • So I'm betting Huey has 24 quarters to coach for his Cleveland Browns head coaching life..... If he fails, enter Todd.

And KC's leading Receiver that playoff year??? Anyone? Bueller?

    Dwayne Bowe...

Haley inherited a 2-14 team from Herm Edwards... then went 4-12 before the 10-6 playoff season.

Then he was relieved after a 5-8 start (including a 4 loss November) by Romeo Crennel.

  • Welcome to the merry go round Mr. Haley.

....listening to a Pittsburgh beat reporter talking to The Fan today, he made it seem like a lot of players and some coaches didn't like Haley at all.

    - Just don't call a bubble screen on first & goal from the one -

Well, everyone apparently loves Hue and we all know how the first 32 games of his Browns' tenure have ended..... Give me some piss and vinegar to go along with Hue's sunshine and lollipops any day.

What's the worst that can happen.... 0-32?

Come on man, if we'd have hired Haley last year you'd have jizzed. They had a bad game and now he's a terrible OC? He has consistently had top tier offenses and will get the weapons to do so here.
