Case Keenum anyone ?

word on the street is that it would have cost the Vikings 19 million if they wanted to keep him so i would think he could be had between the 15 to 20 million range

Well, first off......I heard this morning that someone did a study of all starting QBs in the NFL......and that 19 million is just about the mean salary for an NFL Starting QB. (meaning that half made more and half made less). So, if he indeed would be their starting QB in the future, 19 mill would not be out of line to pay for him.
So, if indeed they decide to let him go.....what is the Vikings plans going forward? BrittleBridgewater? Sam the Sham? Or are they to make a serious run at Cousins?

what is with Keenum & this Skol chant? what does it all mean? Cleveland fans may have more than one chant for him..or hang miss-spelled signs

Skol is Norwegian....and it didn't start with Keenum, but goes back to the beginning of the Vikings as a franchise. From an article:
As the Minnesota Vikings creep closer to the Super Bowl, you may have come across many posts that include the chant "Skol Vikings!"
It is the team's Viking war chant and comes from the Swedish, Danish and Noreigian word "Skål." A Skål was a bowl that was often filled with beer and shared among friends so the word became a way of saying "Cheers!"
“Skol has been in our lexicon since the very beginning of the franchise in 1961,” Vikings Director of Brand and Creative Erin Swartz told WCCO in Minneapolis. “It was really like a Cheers! Vikings! We’ve scored, we’re celebrating, we’re winning.”

they are going to let bridgewater test f.a also and they do have the money to go after cousins

I say yes, get him and still draft White or Lauletta in the 3rd, getting both Barkley and Fitzpatrick in the 1st. Less gamble with Keenum than with any single rookie. We have seen what he can do, and it isn't anything to shrink away from.

Popular weak UK beer in the 70s and 80s....think they still make it

So....do you think that Keenum would be a long term answer such that we can pass on a so called franchise QB? I am not that confident of that.

They would have to know something about Keenum that the Vikings seemingly didn't find out, since they seem to be letting him walk. If the Browns skip QBs with two picks of the first four, I'll go oobatz.

heard a giants fan today hoping Keenum would follow Shurmer to giants. Case can throw any ball outside the hash marks on time. anything over the middle on time..gets ugly

I'd be curious how Keenum would perform in the AFC North, especially in the second half of the season. Doesn't seem to have an arm made for cutting through the wind on the lakefront.

a) Cousins b.) Keenum c.) McCown d.)Bradford d.) McKaren....SKOL!! (suck it up & draft Aaron Rosen)

I heard in a radio interview that Cousins is only 4-19 against teams over .500 in his career. That's better than 1-31, but holy crap.
Like in most multiple choice tests, I'd go with your "C" in that list.

Id just look at it like getting a super bowl experienced rookie. I would feel more confident in him than any rookie to be any teams franchise qb.
I think the jags would have been his perfect team, and him their perfect qb.

Listened to plenty of the Combine talk on NFLN, and they didn't even mention the Browns when the subject of Cousins came up. I suppose Keenum would be OK, but like Cousins, he's 30 years old- and is he a one year wonder?
Just no to Bradford- too fragile. In his 10 years, he's only made it through a 16 game season twice. One complete washout (2014) and last year 2 games. https://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/B/BradSa00.htm

Probably not but letting Keenum battle Kizer for QB1 would be interesting.......and I'd like to see Dutch go oobatz when they draft a RB and DB in R1 and it all won't cost much.

If we are talking about choosing between Keenum and McCarron, here's how I view it:
Keenum
PROS:
- 1 very good regular season
- Experience under different systems in different teams
CONS:
- Arm strenght? He played in a dome when at home last year.
- It's going to take above 10millions to bring him for sure.
McCarron:
PROS:
- Played under Hue's system
- Knows the AFC North
- Cheap. 5 millions at most?
CONS:
- Very little experience as starter.
The way I view it, both can be said that benefitted of a good cast around them when they played at the top of their game, so for me Keenum is a safer bet than McCarron. He played very well last year and in some games he did quite spectacular stuff. McCarron when Dalton got injured? Not so much. He did OK, but Keenum carried that offense at some times last season and pulled great plays. He might not have a great arm, but he could be labelled at least as a serviceable QB.
The thing is more about the money. If I were Dorsey, I would try to pay a lot for a 2 year contract with Keenum, so we get our bridge quaterback with a lot of guaranteed money. That way, you take a huge impact in the salary cap for these 2 years, but I don't see us coming anywhere near of spending all the cap in that span of time. If we had problems with next year's cap, then I'd be scared as Sheet because that would mean that in 2021 we would be already cutting or trading good players, and I don't see us with a SB ring by then.

Well.....there will be numerous options besides Keenum and McCarron....as has been pointed out here and elsewhere.
