Barkley at #1?
-
Carlos Hyde does not mean anything in relation to drafting Barkley, just as Randall and Currie have nothing to do with us drafting a DB/S... or taking Taylor excludes us from taking a QB in the first round.
The Browns are simply filling all of the NEEDS in FA that will allow them to go BPA in the draft and maximize our draft capital. Barkley is the Best Player and playmaker and that's who we'll take #1. No question.
You seem so sure, and that's fine, but why don't you take one of these gentlemen up on their bet?
I'll make you a bet, and it doesn't depend on ANYONE but Barkley. The GMs dont have to do what you want, doesn't have to be on a certain team, etc. I'll bet you a name change on here (I'm not a gambler) that Barkley will NOT be the best player ever like you have said. And since you say he is the best thing you have ever seen, and when he wasn't amazing it wasn't his fault, and was STILL the best, then you should have no issue with this. So he can go to Cleveland, Giants, Patriots, whoever, he will NOT be best ever.
So we got a bet?

In Po's defense, no one can see the future and thus cannot tell who will be the best player ever. I'm not a huge Poe fan, but this is ridiculous.

How many SB's were they in?..... 2? Lewis/Bush
How many SB's were they in?..... 2? Lewis/Bush
If you are talking about RBs taken in the top 5 of the draft since 2000 being in the Super Bowl....then the number is I think 3: Bush, Lewis, James
But if you ask....how many QBs taken since 2000 in the top 5 of the draft....then it is the same number: 3: Eli, Newton, Ryan.

There are currently only 6 starting running backs in the NFL that were picked in the first round. And that's a great list and all but not complete without the busts picked up at running back in the top 5.
Please excuse my ignorance but who is gino Bernard.
Ok I looked it up and it was obviously just a typo as you meant gio Bernard cause he was picked 5th in the 2ND ROUND of the draft.

My list is only top 5 since the Browns have picks 1 and 4.
If you want me to include all top 5 RBs then all top 5 QBs should also be included.
Just because Trent Richardson was picked that high does not mean that he should have gone there.

And damn few Super Bowl wins out of that group. Colts won after James left, and Lewis can thank the other Lewis (Ray) and his defensive pals for his. Just getting to the playoffs isn't the ultimate goal. Ask the Bengals or Vikings about that.

The Browns are simply filling all of the NEEDS in FA that will allow them to go BPA in the draft and maximize our draft capital. Barkley is the Best Player and playmaker and that's who we'll take #1. No question.
It does when you have 4 DB's on the field at one time and quite often 5 or 6 but how many times do you have 2 of the same type of RB's on the field at the exact same time? Practically zero. Again...you don't pay a guy 5 million per year to sit on the bench and/or you don't draft a RB #1 overall to sit on the bench and it makes no sense to play both of them at the same time since they play the same position. Unless you're planning to run the wishbone offense this season with both Hyde and Charles Barkley and Duke all in the backfield at the same time.

Carlos Hyde does not mean anything in relation to drafting Barkley, just as Randall and Currie have nothing to do with us drafting a DB/S... or taking Taylor excludes us from taking a QB in the first round.

That would be interesting.....if not likely a successful tactic. I would be curious to see how an NFL defense would handle that. Especially on the goal line. Maybe it would be successful there. But, we would have to use our fullback. Is Dan Vitale as good as Vaughn Broadnax? (who remembers him....or think: Pete Johnson, Matt Snell, John Brockington, Jim Otis.

I would consider Wentz a Superbowl winner because:
1. He was in the team, so he's got the ring.
2. He played 15 games

And damn few Super Bowl wins out of that group. Colts won after James left, and Lewis can thank the other Lewis (Ray) and his defensive pals for his. Just getting to the playoffs isn't the ultimate goal. Ask the Bengals or Vikings about that.
Cmon Man.
There have been only 52 Super Bowl winning RBs and some guys have won more than once.

Out of the 52 Super Bowls there have been:
29 QB's named as the SB MVP
7 RB's named as the SB MVP (last one was Terrell Davis in SB 32)

How many SB's were they in?..... 2? Lewis/Bush
If you are talking about RBs taken in the top 5 of the draft since 2000 being in the Super Bowl....then the number is I think 3: Bush, Lewis, James
But if you ask....how many QBs taken since 2000 in the top 5 of the draft....then it is the same number: 3: Eli, Newton, Ryan.

Yes.. Anyone can basically skew this anyway they like I suppose.. But, I'm just of the mindset.. You take the QB you want #1 , And Live with the pick. then take BPA the rest of the draft... But yeah... We can split hairs all day long.. And the only denominator we'll come up with is theres really no exact science.. But on the other hand.. There have been tried and true processes for doing things "The right way"

Oh....don't get me wrong......I think we should take a qb #1. The big quandary though is: which one? As I am not really enamored of any of them....not really.
