  • I personally couldn’t care less about win % as there’s more to winning football games than one player

What I do care about most, especially after Kizer, is a QB that is an accurate thrower.

    Josh Allen is not

Baker Mayfield certainly is and if he was two inches taller would be the lock #1 pick

    ^^^^ True.

Mayfield's supporting cast and offense made him look much better than he actually is. If he had Rosen's skill set, no one would give a hot crap about his height.

Nope, it's 95% about Mayfield's height. Some are trying to make mountains out of molehills about his one off field indiscretion, and some of his on field antics. Better supporting cast for Baker? Sure, but at least when his guy was wide open, he can\could hit them in stride, not like a certain Wyoming quarterback under similar conditions throwing the ball 10 feet over their heads or 10 yards past them. From the tape I've watched, Baker made plenty of NFL level thread the needle throws into tight coverage. To say he can't make them is ridiculous.

The only knock I've heard about Mayfield is he tends to lock onto his primary target too often. That can be said for just about any college qb. Allen does the same, except he's nowhere near as accurate.

If you are comparing Allen to Mayfield then I will say sure he is better than Allen. Just like getting punched in the gut is preferable to having someone hit me in the sack with a nine iron. I would prefer neither.

Mayfield has inflated numbers from the nature of his offense. In the pros, Mayfield’s first read won’t be there and he won’t be able to scramble out of the pocket while he finds everyone else. That isn’t to say he won’t ever figure it out. But the Browns aren’t who I would call a team that can develop a QB.

  • Tex, you never back anything up with any facts, not even invalidly.

    https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/draft/2016/02/27/carson-wentz-paxton-lynch-nfl-combine/81036248/

Wentz, Cal’s Jared Goff, Lynch and Michigan State’s Connor Cook – Lynch has the least experience in a pro-style offense.

As a result, some of the footwork on his throws in on-field workouts, designed to mimic a quarterback-center exchange, wasn’t as fluid.

“Nothing is on rhythm and on time, and I’m seeing a lot of that with Paxton,” former quarterback and current NFL Network analyst Kurt Warner said on the broadcast.

He only scored an "18" on the wonderlic.

    http://www.businessinsider.com/nfl-scouts-worried-about-paxton-lynch-low-wonderlic-2016-4

    Another scout echoed this:

The overall maturity level and disposition, I'd be a bit concerned.

    **********************************************************************

So, Allen DID play a lot of pro style offense, is bigtime mature, loves the game, and is very smart, with about 30 mph more arm.

Lynch threw 56 mph at the combine.

Need facts, Tex, or your opinions don't amount to nothin, and you need legit facts, to explain why you see things the way ya do.

I may be wrong, sure, but I see things per the reading I've done.

Again... that's the OU offense... it's a single option pass offense. If it's not there, they ask the QB to move and the WRs to react to that movement. Baker became pretty astute at picking up an open WR once he broke contain. Did a lot more of this in this last season vs. the previous ones.

What type of fact is posting about Ben Roethlisberger's college career for the University of Miami Hurricanes?

  • Josh Rosen Feeds Into Narrative He Doesn't Want Browns To Draft ...

    cleveland.cbslocal.com/.../josh-rosen-feeds-into-narrative-hed-prefer-browns-not-pick...

Dec 26, 2017 - Last year's top overall pick Myles Garrett, who has 6 sacks in 8 games this season for the Browns, had some strong words for Rosen following the 20-3 loss Sunday at Chicago that pushed Cleveland to the brink of a winless season.

Ironically the proof of how poor Allen is sits right in the facts you posted about his individual game stats and as I said before, I watched 4 of them, none of which were his worst against the top 2 teams. They were all against relatively mediocre competition. Sorry you have a problem with my observations and conclusions about what I was seeing. But that is my opinion based on the "facts" of 4 complete games. He's an inaccurate passer. That is a fact.

flip back to page 38.am still looking further back for the beginning of this 1st draft nerd-ness, but pinning it down to 2018 QB posted 9-16-17..Bark-me 9-26-17(same page)..6 months.. but 0-2 might have done it..stay tuned..Home opener with Pitts-chits was 9-10-17😕

  • was. worked on his footwork. that is a fact.

Rosen can extend the play under pressure, but like Gof,f has made mistakes holding on to the ball too long or forcing throws into coverage.

But one place where Goff was markedly better than Rosen is in the red zone. While Rosen's completion percentage drops significantly inside the 20-yard line, Goff maintained his rate and finished his career with an absolutely stunning 56:1 touchdown-to-interception ratio. Rosen, on the other hand, has thrown six of his 24 career interceptions while the Bruins were knocking on the door in scoring position.

well, TexasAgnes, you always miss points.

it's the talent around him. When he has good matchups, he can lead them to a win. No qb can win when his team is badly outmatched.

If a qb's wr's can't get open vs the coverage they face, that's it.  There is no magic twanger to make them get open.

No you missed my point. These were the mediocre teams I saw him play when his receivers were getting open and he just flat missed them. Wyoming still usually won, but he was just not that impressive a passer other than the distance he could toss it. Now if we end up with him I damn sure hope to be wrong. But when I look at the two most rugged QBs in this draft, I'd rather take the more accurate against better competition and that is Darnold. Rosen, despite Tour's assurances , scares me with the concussion issue. But since we now have Taylor, I'd be happy to develop the 20 yo youngster Darnold before throwing him in the fray.

  • and you "saw" every single thing happening on the play, sure. and you know the wr's were in the right spot, sure, and you know he had no pressure all the time, sure.

One more time - Allen KNOWS he needed to work on his footwork. Experts said he really improved by the combine. Most admit he has a sky high ceiling. My opinion- he can be the best of the bunch. He played with a team that wasn't going anywhere til Allen started the two seasons, and he took them to bowl games twice. Experts are also saying footwork is the easier aspect to work out.

Darnold had fumblies since hs. Really? you want to try to fix THAT? I don't get it. Maybe it's no big deal???

I'm with whoever the Browns pick. it won't be rosenbum. It will be Darnold, probably, or Allen maybe, or even Mayfield. I don't know.

I just wish sometime, on either board, you would READ SOMETHING pertinent to the subject at hand before you spew out dumb stuff.

Says the guy who wants to keep the boards separate...

  • The only thing more hilarious than Allen's laughable completion % is his hilariously low yards per attempt last season.

He literally was attempting passes nearly 2 yards shorter on average than Jackson, Rosen, Darnold, and Mayfield and missing them.
