From nobody to the top of the first round of the draft - Josh Allen
-
that ship sailed far past your ignorant comment, started sailing by otheres, not me, don'tcha think? He keeps bringing it up because he loses his arguments as soon as he starts them.
Your inability to be the bigger person is duly noted... again...
But enough of throwing barbs... at you... at Allen...
Here's my bottom line with Allen: I don't see a fix because too many times I cannot identify a problem.
Many times when I see his throws go awry, I see nothing wrong except the result. There's even a quote from Hue somewhere around here to that effect. He said something along the lines of: "Just have to figure out what to fix." That means it's not clear... and that's a concern.
So you can post and repost and re-repost old news to your heart's delight, but you can't change my view that Allen is the biggest gamble of the so-called Big-4 QBs in this draft.
Likewise I know you will never come off your case to pass on Rosen. I can live with that, but whenever you raise it, I'll be right there to refute it.

The only knock I've heard about Mayfield is he tends to lock onto his primary target too often.
Again... that's the OU offense... it's a single option pass offense. If it's not there, they ask the QB to move and the WRs to react to that movement. Baker became pretty astute at picking up an open WR once he broke contain. Did a lot more of this in this last season vs. the previous ones.

Doesn't make me feel any better about taking Mayfield. Only means we don't know what he's capable of failing at or grasping.
I see you make mention of him being your #2 but a distant number 2... Feels like outside of 1st round territory.

Allen could have a high ceiling, but do you expect the Browns to be the place where he can reach it? Hue "QB whisperer" Jackson has already failed to develop two rookie starting QBs (Kessler and Kizer) and failed to do anything with RG3 and Hogan. Whoever the Browns draft will have to put it on themselves to develop because they are not getting any help from Hue.

refute away. Some coaches have said the footwork can be fixed. When Allen is ON, he is really on.
Just not consistent, very true. If he fails in the NFL to reach anywhere close to the moderate level of his potential,
that would be a disaster for the team that drafts him. Trouble is, that goes for every qb in every draft, so....
We'll see. If I see things differently later, I"ll be sure to let you be the first to know.

If I were Dorsey and I trusted my underlings to develop a talent and I felt my job was safe from owner meddling I would take Allen. If I didn't trust my underlings to develop a talent I would probably take Darnold.
-
I'm fascinated by the myriad of possibilities - this draft is completely unpredictable. Going to be wild.

One thing in Allen's favor is he's already used to wearing a hideous uniform and playing for a team only the locals care about

lol... well don't mind if I don't hold my breath...
Footwork can be fixed... that much is true. Like I said it's when nothing appears to be wrong except the result that bugs me.
Sinking feeling that our Allen-Rosen "debate" has all been for naught... and we are headed Darnold.

or Mayfield. I would be a bigger Darnold fan, but...all those fumbles , ints,,, I just don't get it.

My hometown high school has blue turf and wears uniforms of white helmets, blue jerseys and blue pants.
It looks like helmets running around. Stooooooooopid.

Well in the spirit of cooperation I can share the mantra I have begun to repeat... Despite all his obvious flaws, Darnold managed to be as successful as nay QB over 6'2...
Ball security is an added concern, but that's largely a two-hands on the ball thing. Some signs at his pro day he's been focusing on that and ala Kizer when he starts his motion from a position with two hands on the ball, then his throwing path tightens up. Still not as ingrained as it became with Kizer, however.

This is from Mary K. so take it with a grain of salt, but...

If I recall correctly, it was one of the problems with Wilson coming from college. There was a Gruden camp where he told (IDK if it was Kizer or who) that he had to become a two-hand monster.
Among the flaws a college QB can bring to the NFL, it is the last one that concerns me.

as long as the quotes are from Palmer, I can't wait til I get a chance to watch Allen's pro day.
