Oh That Crafty Bellichek

The Browns Board

  • I hope you Baker Backers are right, I really do. When we drafted him I had the same sick feeling in my stomach when we drafted Weeden

  • OK....where does the "Crafty" part of  BB come in?

I see nothing crafty in what is being told here.  He would have had to have given up massive numbers of either draft picks or players......much of that team's future, to get Mayfield.

A future, by the way, that he would not be around to conduct.

    Baker Mayfield theme song?

  • But, hopefully, not this;

  • But, perhaps...it will be this:

BM and MM even look a bit alike when MM has his hair its real color and lets it grow out.

Well if what I heard is correct (which may not be) is the Patriots plan was to give up both 1sts and 2nds to move up. So they would have them given up Wynn, Michel, and Dawson.

That certainly isn't their future to not have a QB. The Patriots have had 1 back that was a high pick, Corey Dillon.

And it certainly isn't a forgone conclusion that BB wont be there in the future.

You seem to forget what Patriots do with players a lot of people didn't want.

The patriots have Tom Brady. Bottom line that's it he makes everyone better without him there average.

When I look at the current NE QB depth chart:

QUARTERBACK (3) Tom Brady Danny Etling Brian Hoyer

The Patriots still could bring in a fourth quarterback. NBC Sports Boston’s Tom E. Curran suggested the Patriots could sign Johnny Manziel if Patriots owner Robert Kraft signs off on it. — Etling isn’t guaranteed a spot on the 53-man roster regardless of whether the Patriots sign another QB or not. Etling could ultimately land on the practice squad, depending on how he looks in OTAs, minicamp and training camp.

    What? Two BROWNS castoffs?

I wonder why they didn't go like crazy for a R1 QB deal especially one of the better 3 or 4 guys, why Bill why? What tricks do you and Craft have up your sleeves.....or is Tom Brady really some 40+ year old freakin bionic QB?

  • They also took Sony Michel @ #31. Bastages!

Of course he does, but BB has something to do with their success as well. I give Brady more of it though.

But they did pretty good when Brady had been out. Also everyone's new it/best thing ever QB is Jimmy G. Why? Did every team just miss the boat, or did some of that have to do with the coaching he received?

But you just skipped over the main point. You said for them to move up for the QB they would be giving up the future. That is just simply wrong. Wynn, Michel, and Dawson may be future starters, but that isn't a future of the franchise. Yes Brady makes the guys he plays with better, but it also has to do with everything they do in New England

I have said it over and over and over.....BB is good enough to have his team be constant playoff contenders.  But without TB.....I doubt that that teams wins a single Super Bowl, let alone 5.

As for "giving up the future".....from what I read it seemed like  the thought was that the Pats would have had to give up like all their first and second round picks for the next two years...and maybe more, to move up to #2.  I mean, that is giving up a lot of the future, is it not....if in fact that was the proposition?

  • Did the OP misspell "Krafty"?

None Kraftier than Bill... the GOAT...

  • Who was the last coach to win a Browns playoff game?

  • they were never going to trade up to get Mayfield they just wanted the interview to get a better idea what he is all about Thinking being that he was gonna be a jet and have to play against him twice a year

Well that one of us heard wrong, as in what I put in this thread was their 2 1sts and 2 2nds THIS year.

And dont forget that the 1st 2 Super Bowls Tom Brady wasnt a superstar, he simply did enough for them to win by great defense and kicking game.

And maybe they wouldn't have won 5, not likely they would have, but if some of the QBs that have won could win, then I think BB could have found someone in the last 20 years.

Your original statement just comes off as hate and hypocritical and hypothetical.

To just assume that they would have to give up something that was thought to be monumental without knowing and proclaiming they would be giving up their future is off base. Name one GREAT RB they have had in his system. Name a GREAT OL they have had recently.

And name and provide the link where it's been said that BB wouldn't be there in the future, not some guess or what someone thinks will happen.
