Taking Rational Stock going into Thursday's game
-
I am as disappointed as anyone at our current 0-1-1 record. So don't read this as Polyanna wishful thinking...
Let's pretend we live in another dimension where the Browns were 6-10 last season, the 1st season into a rebuilding season... How does our 0-1-1 feel at this point? I would suggest many of us would be a lot more positive feeling than we are right now.
In a driving monsoon we played our arch rivals to a tie on opening day. And week two we play the New Orleans Saint to the very last play and screw it up in perfect Browns fashion.... But would we all want to collectively commit NFL suicide and quit watching? I would suggest not even close...
What we are feeling is the residual of a lot of bad games and seasons, when in reality the only season that counts is this one right now..
The upcoming game against the Jets is the opening game for us. We are playing at home and weather for the evening at this point appears to be ideal. We are playing a team that is 1-1(their victory coming from the Detroit Lions) in our house on Thursday night in front of a national audience....
How much more excited as a Browns fan can you get? As pissed off as I am at the 2 losses(I consider them to be losses) to this point, I never in my rational mind thought they were winnable this early in our new season. WAY to many things were still up in the air. Offensive line reset, defensive line a question mark(not so much anymore).. Will Tyrod adjust to playing with our team or will he fall apart(I Think he destroys the Jets on Thursday)... Special Teams as bad as they were in both our losses were not the reason we lost.. We lost because we didn't take control of the games while we had them..
At Pittsburgh we had 7 turnovers and didn't turn them into points.. By the time Zane took the field at the end, we should have already won the game handily.. It should have never been in his hands(or feet). Same goes for the Saints game.. We are up 12-3 and were holding them... But we let them back in the game.. Why? Because those teams are better than we are, plain and simple.... But evidently not that much better, because we lost both games at the bitter end.. We took them all the way.
The Jets are the start to our season.. Should we lose this game, then i will join you on the figurative noose and hang myself.. And I will be thankful because it means I get the rest of my Sundays back for the next 3 months
....
The next 4 games are games we can and should win... We have Raiders after a nice 10 day break.. We have Ravens and the the Bolts and then Tampa Bay.. All winnable games and teams that are at the same point in their development(the Ravens being a question mark at this point.).....
Let's put a pin in the "we completely suck" talk until around 11:30pm EST on Thursday... For one I feel we destroy the Jets and let out our collective rage on these poor schmucks.

Does anyone see any reason that the Browns should not just spank the hell out of the Jets this week? Just like in the very first Monday Night Game:
Leroy Kelly, Bill Nelsen, Gary Collins, Milt Morin, Bo Scott, Sherk, Erich Barnes, Walt Sumner, the Recently departed Jim Houston, Fair Hooke!!, Homer Jones! Sockroft, Jack Gregory, Shafrath, Billy Andrews
On the other side: Namath, Boozer, Snell, Maynard, George Saurer, Rich Caster

I think it would do all of us a world of good to just win Thursday.
Just win one and we can bask in its glow for weeks.
Because the schedule gets rough after this.

No, your silly mind may explode, but that is far from all hell breaking loose.
You have no idea.

OP: "perfect Browns fashion" Sadly, that probably generated some head-nods. The team may have nodded as well at this point.
Two weeks of watching the games and it is clear to me the Browns will benefit greatly by learning how to win. I know it is cliche, but two weeks in a row I felt strongly that a team in those positions that had a winning culture would have found a way.
One step at a time. Thursday is that first step.

I didn’t watch the draft for the first time in 18 yrs. I wasn’t sold on Sam Darnold but even less on Baker Mayfield. Darnold looks like the prototypical QB and could have spent the first year or sooner learning the system.
The jets have the #1 Defense this week so this ain’t going to be easy. On the plus side we have a pretty good pass rush which is to our advantage against the rookie
Good riddance to our kicker who thru his inflated ego dug us a hole & denied us the chance to be 2-0
as for our wide receivers, I replaced Gordon with Callaway and was rewarded for my gamble
Go Browns! And please win as it will be one of the few I get to watch live ?

What?
I assume that she means that Gonzales elected to not tell the Browns that he was suffering from a groin injury.....to the team's detriment.
On the other hand, I simply think the groin injury is a figment of his imagination. He showed no effects from an injury....he only showed effects from being inaccurate.
