HCs on the Hot Seat... (not named "Hue")

The Browns Board

  • Todd Bowles... New York Jets

23-31 in his 4th year. Gave the Browns their first win in almost 2 seasons. That doesn't sit well with New York fans.

He might be done after week 10 when they go into the bye.  They got a tough schedule and could realistically be 3-7 at that point, if not worse.

He has to turn it around quick...

I have a cousin who is a big Browns fan who lives in northern Jersey, he says the NY media is already questioning if Darnold was the right choice, and while they admit the Browns are better than they have been lately, are still shocked that they lost to them.

  • Texas two step..'Jason Garrett'..gals get Lions at home next week..Than tie a noose to a tree in Houston..one's gotta go..

I think Jason Garrett is a pretty good coach.. I just think Dak is sorely overrated and his defense has 0 discipline

Lost a key OL player. Makes a huge difference even if you think they are a dime a dozen.

    Have to disagree with Bowles.

Last year they gave him an awful roster, everyone thought it was going to be a #1 pick year and still got the team playing.

I think both teams from Texas are changing coaches.

  • Agree... Bowles' D is really, really good and he's saddled with a rookie QB, who has promise, but is still a rookie.

Garrett's a tough one to peg. Jerrah has been very loyal to him thru seasons where the 'Boys have underachieved. I'm not sure this is one of those seasons. In addition to losing 2/5ths of their all-world OL, they have no receivers. Their assembled Corps rivals ours of a couple years ago for being unremarkable.

While he's certainly not in danger of being fired, Gruden's catching a lot of heat. If you watched the pre-games yesterday you heard about the division he's brought to the Raider FO. Apparently he's set up his own personal scout team, his own, GM-style advisor... basically a parallel FO. Worse he's cut the "real FO" out of decisions including the trading of Khalil Mack.

I guess when you have guaranteed, 10-year contract you feel empowered to do whatever the fuk you want...

  • I'd fire that dirty no good S O B Tomlin in pissburgh. Just because!

  • Good day for Sean McDermott yesterday.

New guys are struggling (Wilks),  or suddenly stopped struggling (Shurmur, Patricia)but everyone but Rob Chudzinski gets two years, right?

Lot of expectations with the Chargers and they are a dull 1-2 out of the gate, Anthony Lynn ... he probably needs to make the playoffs.

Mike McCarthy needs to win some, maybe if Clay Matthews was allowed to sack again that would help.

  • Seven teams have brand new coaches.....so, assuming as you say, teams will not be doing the Chudzinski thing by giving only one year, those have to be eliminated.

Those are  the Tits, Giants, Lions, Cards, Raiders, Bears, Colts

    So that is seven.

Plus I suspect that any team with a winning record currently will not be on the hot seat

So, eliminate the HCs of the Dolphins, Chiefs, Bengals, Ravens, Jags, Eagles, Redskins, Bucs, SAints, Panthers, Rams, Broncos

I am also going to take a stab that no HC that has won a Super Bowl at some point with their team will be fired, even though they may not have a winning record.

So, eliminate the HCs of the Pats, Steelers, Seahawks, Packers

So, that leaves the HCs of the following  9 teams as possible hot seat sitters:

Bills,  Jets, Browns, Texans, Cowboys, 49ers,  Vikings, Falcons, Charger.

I think we can eliminate the  Vikings and Falcons, seeing that those were playoff teams last year.  Also strike the 49ers, as they will not move from Shanahan.

So....IF  the Chargers do not perform up to par....and by that I mean compete for the division title.......he could be a candidate (though at this point he has an overall  10-8 record in  1 year plus)

The Bills under McDermott made the playoffs last year...the first time in like 17 years for the Bills.  So he should have a lot of leeway there.

That then leaves 4 teams,  4 HCs:

Hue Jackson,  whose seat should be the hottest given his past record.....and ineptitude.

Todd Bowles.   He is 21-29 in his career with the Jets.

But, I note this:   Both of the above are now starting raw rookie QBs....and that fact alone may give them some rope.

So, yes, as others concluded, I think it may be down to the two Texas HCs.

O/Brien at 0-3 is skating on thin ice.  The loss last year of his QB helps him so far this year.  But now that Watson is back, and if the DATs don't do any better.....he certainly could be out.

Garrett at Dallas.  His overall record may not warrant his dismissal, as it stands at  68-54.   But in 10 years his team has only made the playoffs twice. Of course, his problem is that his owner is his GM,  and he sucks at his job as GM....but what are you going to do.   Garrett could likely be the scapegoat for  Jerry Jones ineptitude.

So, yes......Garret and O'Brien are the two on the biggest hot seats,  based on my above analysis.

  • I think Bill O'Brian is the likely choice at this point.   They should be better than they've shown.     Jason Garrett I think is running a close 2nd in that race.

  • Good day for Sean McDermott yesterday.

And don't forget Matt Patricia beatin' his Daddy last nite. Not something BB's formers often do.

BB did not seem too pleased to congratulate him either.

Belichick is such a miserable twat.

    Good for Patricia...

  • I think Bill O just got a reprieve courtesy of Frank Reich...

  • Don't look now, but Rosen and Phil Dawson both looked not good yesterday.. 6-of-a-lot-more for 50 yards at halftime does not a win portend.

  • Rosen had about a 90 qbr and slang a nice TD

Colt’s coach made a very questionable decision to go for it on 4 and 4 in colts territory yesterday in OT. Could’ve been 1-2-1 now 1-3 instead.
