Already said- only competition is Saquon Barkley 828 yards, behind only Elliott, Gurley, and Connor. 8 TDs, not too shabby playing behind a lousy o-line.

Compared to all the other rookie qbs, Baker stands alone. He's the only one with a positive TD-INT ratio.

You worry Baker may be another RG? I don’t see them in the same ballpark if that’s what you mean. The zip and accuracy Baker has is on a different level. Much more between the ears and just more determination imo

I could see Barkley getting it even if it’s undeserved based on all the media hummers he gets.

He plays in the New York market.....that would be the prime reason.

Well, Baker is rookie of the month - November.

I don't think it'll happen with our Center injured and the defenses we're going to be playing....but if he were to get rookie of the month for December, he'd be a lock for Rookie of the Year.

i seriously doubt The Baker could give a rats ass about it,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, these sort of things are for us to talk about

If he doesn't watch out, he might end up having the best season by a new era Browns QB.

Might not end up with the gawdy '07 Derek Anderson stats, but overall could end up better.

    Anderson's stats were decent..

29TDs, but he did throw 19INTs...

If you break down their performance, Mayfield is ahead...

    Anderson: 56.6 comp%, 7.2 yards/attempt, 5.5 touchdown%, 3.6 interception%, 82.5 QB rating

    Mayfield: 62.7 comp%, 7.2 yards/attempt, 5.5 touchdown%, 2.3 interception%, 93.2 QB rating

He’s his own QB. I’m more worried about something like a sophomore jinx thing.

  • Note on the above:   The Browns have only ever had ONE  ROTY.....Chip Banks,  Defensive ROTY,  1982.

It would be sweet if they swept both awards this year:   Baker on O,  Ward on D.

(though I wager that these voters would not opt to do that....they will probably give it to that LB from Indy....unless Denzel can have a couple of more lights out games)

I was thinking the same thing, good teams somehow tend to pick the right talent regardless of their draft position.

Getting one or both would be nice for Cleveland.

Baker will win ROY if the offense stays at 80% of what it’s been since the axing of the toxic coaches.

Since you asked, MHO Baker's only serious competition for offensive ROTY is Saquon Barkley.

Nice if Mayfield wins, but it's not the end of the world if he doesn't.

PS, looking at those lists, plenty of HOFers on it- and very few that flamed out later on.

I have Barkley in my FFL and he always scores me a ton of points running & receiving even when the Giants lose. He was the first player I thought of when I saw the title, Baker second. Depending on how he does against the tougher teams coming up, he may move into first.

I'm gonna need a lot from him this week, because Brees got shut down to 1 TD. Worst game in years for him. Dallas D was impressive last night.

I think, based on what I was able to find, is that  September's Rookie of the month was  Calvin Ridley, Falcons.  October's was Quenton Nelson of the Colts (OG)  And Mayfield won November.

But...neither Ridley nor Nelson ever won Rookie of the week.   As noted,  Baker has won it 3 times......and should be in line to win again for this week (I have not seen where it has been announced)....for the 4th time.

Barkley has won it once.  Not sure where your head was when you thought of Barkley first when you saw the title to this.....unless all you have on your mind is your fantasy football crap. (though...I have an idea of where your head was)

Baker is the frontrunner, leading an 0-16 team to respectability and playing light years better than any other rookie QBs.

He is a "bigger deal" than Barkley who is having a terrific season with 1,400 combined yards and 12 Tds, but Baker will have to keep the gas on the pedal so to speak.

No doubt that the top 2 picks have been the two most impactful players, Browns and Giants nailed their picks.

Very, very good rookie class overall including Ward, Chubb, the other Chubb, Ridley, Nelson etc...

It’s looking like a slamdunk for the annual award.

I think Z answered for me above. The real test for Baker is coming up in Houston and Denver. Play well even if in losses and it's his. But if he gets his clock cleaned, Barley is right there in line with a terrific rookie season against defenses who know he is the key to stopping the Giants. I don't see any other competition out there other than those two.
