Potential Interior DL thread

The Browns Board
31 16 1.5k
  • Remember, there's no reason any FA is required to pick Cleveland even if we offer an appropriate value.  People seem to forget that on this board..

We offered more cash to Schwartz than KC but he still chose to leave.. and people viewed that as a failure of the FO even though there was nothing they could do..

Each of the FA come with questions.

Wilkerson doesn't care about football.. Pierce is basically Snacks Harrison v2.0 .. Can Irving be injury-free.. The others will be tagged

What defensive scheme will we be running next year?      4-3,     3-4   ??

    43 Under.

I don't.  I'm just being a smart ass and suggesting something that would appease both crowds of speculation.

They're not converting myles to.a full.time standup olb'er.....otherwise u can just trade him now cause he's off to dallas as soon as his rookie contract is up. Seeing as he's the best player on the def, im gonna predict we stay in a base 43.

Cmon man!  That was years ago! Before the 1 win in 2 years. Sounds like Schwartz had some sense at the time.

Schwartz wanted to stay here, but the front office in charge at the time low-balled him and refused to budge... by the time they did, Schwartz basically told them to go piss up a rope. Trust me, Doug Dieken brings this up on the regular.

    Some of the biggest names:

    Jeffery Simmons, DT, MIssissippi State

    Ed Oliver, DT, Houston

    Quinnen Williams, DT, Alabama

    Christian Wilkins, DT, Clemson

    Dexter Lawrence, DT, Clemson

    Raekwon Davis, DL, Alabama

    Dre’Mont Jones, DL, Ohio State

    Jerry Tillery, DL, Notre Dame

    Derrick Brown, DT, Auburn

    Rashan Gary, DL, Michigan

I've only watched a handful of games on each if these guys, but this is how I see them as of today.

Simmons, Brown, and Oliver are top notch prospects.

Williams, Tillery, and Jones have special talent but need work.

Wilkins, Lawerence, and Davis feel like they benefited from the other talent on their lines. They feel more like rotational/role players.

I think Gary is a DE/ edge rusher

We'd franchise him before we let that happen. But I also agree we are likely to stay 4-3.

Could play all over.  Weak side end in a  over front,  interior,  base end.    He's another player you have to move around a bit for maximum effectiveness.

  • Is it fair to say that the apparent strength of this draft coincides with one of the Browns biggest needs?

And the draft capital to get the one they want.

How can anyone know....since we won't know who our DC will be?   If they do not keep Williams as HC...then everything is up in the air.

    Fair to say?

Another Michifucker without a true position to play?  Can't we get a real player?

Exactly....all these  Michitweeners who can't really fill a position?  All chirp...no chomp.

  • Saw a few tweets relative to this thread. Edge rushers aren’t going  anywhere of course but thought it was interesting nonetheless

  • Taking away interior pressure is a different animal and incredibly difficult to do as opposed to edge defenders.   When you face somebody that strong, fast, technique sound and moves all over the formation....   It's the most challenging thing for a QB because they have no pocket to step up into.   You generally have to win with either talent or adjusting your passing and running game to slow down that first step.

  • I think Dre' Mont Jones would be a great pick. Dorsey doesn't seem to mind bringing in buckeyes. He looked good with Bosa. Garrett, Jones, Ojunobi and Ogbah would be nasty!

  • A AP1

There are enough that we probably don't need to move up, but who knows?

But if it's White we want from LSU as ILB as our 1st-it will require a moveup.

  • Jeffrey Simmons, the first prospect on the list from Mississippi State, looks like an athletic force in the middle.

Derrick Brown from Auburn, who looks as much like a freak LB as he does a lineman, made some impressive plays for the Tigers:

Quinnen Williams, apparently a “the best d-lineman and top 3 draft pick “

Christian Wilkins: this guy can flat out play, and looks similar to Quinnen Williams with his size and athleticism.

Dexter Lawrence, at 6’5”, 350, is just a brick wall to insert into the lineup:
