I am a fiscal conservative and am PO'd with the 2 Trillion $$ addition to the national debt. The fact that has occurred under a Republican makes no sense to me whatsoever. I would like to support a Republican who understands that and takes the time to find ways to decrease that debt and certainly not add to it with a billionaire tax cut bill. Most here still don't get that the tax cut bill is permanent for the upper 1%, but not for anyone else. It runs out in the second term if he is still there. It's a rich man's bill put together and passed by rich men.

I am for finding ways to account for and decrease the effects of global climate change as shown by the increasing scientific evidence behind it. I am not for pretending that the science does not exist. Parts of Miami are experiencing it more and more each year with nothing more than high tides seeping up through the porous limestone. I bet some of them  have become true believers.

I am for studying real universal health care as practiced in other countries and finding a responsible way of making it work here. The greed of health insurance and drug companies is burying the everyday American who cannot predict to a certainty that individually they won't have a catastrophic illness or accident that precludes ability to pay.

As for the far left wing, forget it. Find  a more centrist candidate who doesn't go overboard. You know, like Republicans used to be.

2nd amendment should stay intact but with limitations. No way the founding fathers could have foreseen today's weaponry. Rifling had just begun to replay the smooth bore weapons. And nothing like the automatic weapons of today could have been envisioned. We have a living, breathing document in the Constitution and there is an amendment process in place for societal change. Use it appropriately just as we have done for women's voting rights, abolition of slavery, etc.

    Liberal.

1st amendment should stay around but with limitations. There's no way the founding fathers could have ever forseen the internet or that all the utter morons they managed to marginalize by skirting true democracy and giving the Retards a somewhat less Retarded representative to speak for them would ever be able to communicate quickly enough, or with little enough oversight, to orchestrate online mobs.

    1) there are limitations on the first amendment

    2) communicating more quickly is much different than killing more quickly

  • Not at all. In fact it's just as dangerous. Look at the state of the world. The instantaneous sharing of information has made mass murder super fashionable.

Explain that a little more please

  • You're a smart guy I'm pretty sure you get it. All this media means that people are getting plenty of attention for their misdeeds.

Adam Lanza was able to go online and find people who fed his delusional fantasies. It was well known how he idolized mass shooters like Harris and Klebold. In another age it was quite likely he blew his own brains out and did the world a favor. Instead...one upsmanship. It's led to the rise of Facebook live murders, it's toxic online communities like incels that led directly to at least two mass murders from that group. It's the proliferation of the internet as an information sharing tool that's evolved the cartels from gunning their enemies down to skinning them alive on video, and isis making videos of burning people alive in cages.

Did all this shit happen before? Absolutely. However it's naive to not correlate the meteoric rise in such things with the advent of the internet. There's also a lot of less drastic but also harmful movements that have grown out of the ability to gather and share information without being checked. Anti-science must be one you're familiar with. Anti-vaccine, flat Earth, climate change deniers, anti gmo, chemtrails, anti-medicine.

One might even argue those are more dangerous to humanity as a whole than mass shooters and grimly inventive cartel killers.

  • But this is off track. I'd be happy to talk about it in another venue.

For the right - they need to step off gay marriage, and especially contraception. They have no business trying to tell two consenting adults what to do in the bedroom no matter what their religious text says, and attempting to block contraception is just plain Retarded if abortion is abhorrent to you.

Also the majority of climate change hoaxers appear to be from the right. Blocking anything that attempts to mitigate the damage is inconcievable.

For the left - Identity politics are killing this country on a daily basis. Ramming things like transgenderism - which even the gay community still struggles to accept - down everyone's throat is baffling. Trying to view every last thing through the lens of race and personal Identity is...not working out as far as I can see.

The right attempts to block contraception? Where did that come from? Most of what you described relates to the teachings of the Catholic Church, not the right.

The right has no problem with being responsible and using contraception to avoid pregnancy and the eventual murder of a baby.

No problem Steve. I'll delete my response. You can edit it out out yours if you wish.
