Democratic presidential candidate Beto O’Rourke sounded the alarms on Monday, saying that civilization has only “ten years” left on Earth if no action is taken on climate change.

The key phrase here is "if we don't."
The end of the world is not coming anytime soon. Of course rather than to admit the predictors are full of the shit of the Christmas goose just as they were in the 70s and 80s and 90s they will need some kind of ineffectual legislation that they can point to as the turning point that saved us all. The political tide changes often enough and I have no doubt that whoever the next Democrat in the White House is will sign the Paris Accord. In my opinion a complete piece of shit but it does make the love to feel good and in 10 years when the earth isn't incinerated they can dance around praising each other for saving the world.
But face it kids oh, nobody not President Trump not Bernie Sanders and not AOC will ever sign legislation that will call for actual sacrifice from the Great unwashed. No matter how tearfully they sing the song of global warming.
( Plus in 10 years beat off O'Rourke will probably be little more than a footnote)
