I might appear as something of a cynic and admittedly often I feel that way but I have a hard time believing any Americans are actually actively wishing for the death of the United States. I do believe there are politicians on the left who would benefit greatly from social and financial collapse just because they preach socialism and that empowers them but, no, I think that there actually are some starry-eyed pie-in-the-sky green freaks that think they are saving the world.

This. I don't think anyone has some nefarious James Bond villain plans. I just think they believe that what they are doing is for the best. That may not logically be true but they have their hearts in the right place even if woefully misguided.

Not sure what the "world stage" has to do with the heart of "win at all cost" but coaches throughout my football days preached "knock them out" every practice and every game.
