Only drafted him in three leagues... 🙁

    As for the whole situation...

I suspended (and fired) employees during my working years.

In every case there was a "letter" (to their file) detailing the behavior that was being disciplined.

In every case that letter was presented to the employee face-to-face...

To drop such a letter in the mail... leave with their time card... or deliver in any other fashion... was unthinkable.

In every above case of chronic behavior the disciplinary letter was not the first letter. There was always an earlier letter to file putting the employee on notice and setting setting expectations. I don't know if this was done in this case... but if as I suspect it was not, then AB was blindsided.

Yes.... AB's IG post was over-the-top and needs to apologized for, but Mayock set the conflict in motion. When you are disciplining someone, you face them... you give them the chance to respond, make their case, etc. then. You don't let them stew on it.

Normally I'd say Mayock's move was "chickenshit", but I don't think there's anything "chicken" about Mike. It was just a wrongheaded, ignorant, inconsiderate move that anyone on the aggressive side of a complete milktoast would react negatively to... let alone someone as volatile as AB.

I share the thoughts as stated above.

I was surprised when Mayock took the position as Raider's GM. I have always liked Mayock, but he may take the biggest & hardest fall in this fiasco. Time will tell.

    Mike

I think Gruden wanted AB. He should take the hit for him.

    On another note....

Casserly was back on  NFL Network waxing on about potential teams...

    • WSH
    • JAX
    • AZ
    • CHI
    • SEA

Cited issues with all, but his #1??? NE... on a minimum "prove it" deal.

Of the others SEA seems reasonable... Pete has handled "personalities" before... they need a #1 WR... they have a Franchise QB.

    Seattle would be perfect.

I don't think any team would be "perfect." If he couldn't keep it down to even make week 1, after scoring $30 mill in guaranteed cash (if he just shows up) then when will he ever stop being a petulant child and douchebag? When? Where?

  • He signs with New England, and they gave him $9 million as a signing bonus.

Damn near an NBA move by AB.

  • Has signed with the Patriots.

Reported 1 year deal worth up to 15 million with 9 million signing bonus.

If he can't act right there then I doubt he is in league in future.

  • Of course, who would expect anything else...

  • $15mm, Bob.... $10mm "guaranteed" for one year...

    LMFAO!!!

Unfortunately he's ineligible Week 1 vs da Steelers.

Anyone wanna bet me he's not returning punts Week 2? As in... I have the side that says he is?

Seriously, fuck AB and fuck Belichick.

  • ****THREAD TITLE CHANGE*****

Hope You Didn't Draft Edelman or Gordon.

He orchestrated himself off a crap team into virtual free agency, where he signed with the Super Bowl champs.

And this will continue to happen because teams basically encourage it. He acted like a complete asshat and the news of his release had barely broke and a team snatched him up. What is going to stop other players from pulling this stunt?

    Talent

  • This is why I hardly give a fuck about the NFL anymore.

  • If anything, this almost guarantees no guaranteed money in the next CBA.

Going to be a helluva long strike in that case...

  • Edelman is always a safe bet.

    He's Tom's emotional support "pet"...

It might, but you can't blame the owners for it.

  • Sure I can...

"Guaranteed" money has been a mirage for decades. Now it's starting to be real. There's no going back.

  • Calls his GM a "cracker" and gets paid a $9 million signing bonus.

Hate to get racial, but my goodness, imagine if Mayock called AB a "N*****?" He'd be out of football forever.

Besides that, you've got to wonder if this whole thing was orchestrated by AB and Rosenhaus.

    Of course it was.

You think he's going to give two shits about what helmet they slap on his head in New England?

  • Edelman has a high floor with a much lower ceiling.  Especially the second half of the season.
