  • 3. Ravens record?

    Zombo: 8-8

    jcam222: 9-7

    Ibleedbrown: 6-10

    Mudfly: 9-7

    Bob806: 10-6

    PoeticG: 7-9

    TexasAg1969: 10-6

    Sdbacker80: 10-6

    Gipper: 8-8

    Coyote: 9-7

    DBone: 10-6

    mjp28: 7-8-1

    Tour2ma: 10-6

    Nero: 10-6

    Flugel: 10-6

    gumby: 10-6

    DutchOven: 9-7

Answer: The Baltimore Ravens went a franchise record 14-2 to win the AFC North and gain the #1 seed. After starting the season 2-2, they reeled off 12 consecutive victories, and looked like the favorites to advance through the AFC playoffs to get to the Super Bowl... then they got rolled by the Tennessee Titans in the divisional round of the playoffs.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: It's funny thinking back to mid-season, 2018 for the Ravens. At that point, the Ravens were languishing in mediocrity, their longtime starting QB Joe Flacco ending his run as their franchise QB, and rumors were swirling that John Harbaugh's days in Baltimore were coming to an end. Enter Lamar Jackson. The turnaround for their team has been astounding since he has taken over the reigns of the Ravens offense. The Ravens outscored their opponents 531-282 this season. All this made their quick playoff exit absolutely delicious. While no one came close to predicting 14 wins, Bob806, TexasAg1969, Sdbacker80, DBone, Tour2ma, Nero, Flugel and gumby all get to share this tasty treat for being closest.

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to... While I love his optimism, being 8 games off the mark gives Ibleedbrowns this hallowed award.

  • Boom! Yessiree. Now can l get one right? Or at least closer to right?

Memo to self: Next year think Price is Right...

  • 4. Steelers record?

    Zombo: 11-5

    jcam222: 10-6

    DutchOven: 11-5

Answer: The Pittsburgh Steelers finished the 2019 season at 8-8, missing the playoffs for the second consecutive year.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: The Steelers suffered a season-ending elbow injury to Ben Roethlisberger in Game 2, and started the season 1-4. It appeared that the Steelers were heading towards a miserable season (HALLELUJAH!) when they ran off a 7-1 stretch behind a very strong defense and two backup QBs, and were sitting pretty in the playoff race. They hit the proverbial wall in December, losing their last three games. Mudfly, PoeticG, Sdbacker80, DBone and mjp28 all win this tasty treat.

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to... With the injury to Roethlisberger, the Steelers did a helluva job to contend for the playoffs for the entire season, but their late season fade gives Zombo and DutchOven a shared Scarlet "D" on their chests.

  • Hard to believe Zombo of all people overestimated the Steelers...

  • Damn, that D Bone guy knows his shit......... ?

  • 5. How many points do the Browns score? Allow?

    Zombo: 464, 326

    jcam222: 421, 300

    Ibleedbrown: 388, 202

    Mudfly: 441, 337

    Bob806: 422, 294

    PoeticG: 490, 270

    TexasAg1969: 400, 300

    Sdbacker80: 395, 292

    Gipper: 412, 222

    Tour2ma: 440, 312

    Nero: 430, 300

    Flugel: 425, 310

    gumby: 445, 324

    DutchOven: 395, 313

Answer: The Browns scored 335 points (20.9/game) and allowed 393 points (24.6/game) in 2019.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: Safe to say, optimism was running rampant going into this season, especially for the offense. Unfortunately, with the exception of the Baltimore game, the offense was usually a disorganized mess, scoring a point and a half less per game than in 2018. The defense wasn't much to look at either, especially in the last month when the Browns pass rush was MIA. No one was really that close with either prediction, but DBone  was the closest on BOTH points scored and allowed!

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to... The rest of us? I mean, everyone was way off, but there's some hilarious shenanigans going on here... mjp with the Browns scoring 501 points! Ibleedbrown with the Browns allowing only 202! Gipper with the Brownies allowing 222! Classic stuff there gents! But the poster extra-dummy on this one would be PoeticG, who was in a different area code on both his picks.

  • Hey 501 - 345. That's CLE 31 THEM 21. It coulda happened, maybe.......ok it sucked.

  • I knew this was gonna be bad, but this is "Holy Shit" bad.   ?

  • 6. How many yards, touchdowns and interceptions does Baker Mayfield throw for?

    Zombo: 4884, 38, 10

    jcam222: 4500, 40, 10

    Ibleedbrown: 5239, 31, 18

    Mudfly: 4351, 33, 16

    Bob806: ?, 34, 14

    PoeticG: 5100, 44, 11

    TexasAg1969: 4800, 31, 13

    Sdbacker80: 4750, 31, 15

    Gipper: 4444, 44, 14

    Coyote: 4885, 42, 13

    DBone: 3736, 24, 19

    mjp28: 4999, 32, 8

    Tour2ma: 4560, 39, 15

    Nero: 4500, 35, 12

    Flugel: 4425, 36, 15

    gumby: 4606, 41, 17

    DutchOven: 4209, 34, 15

Answer: Baker Mayfield, in his second NFL season, threw for 3827 yards with 22 touchdowns and 21 interceptions.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner: There could be many explanations for Mayfield's regression in his sophomore year.... he slacked off working on and off the field going into the season, the offense did not cater to his strengths, players weren't on the same page with him because they missed OTA's and chunks of training camp, perhaps the NFL caught up with Mayfield's tendencies, and a weak OLine. Probably all the above. DBone wins again, rather easily.

And the 'Big Dummy Award' goes to... The rest of us were so, so far off. Mayfield had a 93.7 QB rating in 2018, it plummeted to 78.8 in 2019. Our sky-high predictions, of course, look silly now. And in the land of silly Mayfield predictions, PoeticG was the king of silliness.

  • Remind me to ask D Bone for some lotto numbers next time he’s on.

  • Wow BM 22 DBone 24 ibleedbrown 31 mjp 32 and I thought we were way low.  So much for Great Expectations.

  • Great thread, my only preseason prediction was w-l of 10-6 which makes me one of the losers.
