The way people are disregarding the so called 'stay at home' rules and lack of enforcement, I don't doubt we will be 'number one' very soon, and by quite a lot.

Got to love the very last line. "said a second former official."

No doubt bud. The entire thing is Trump's fault. Not only here foot worldwide. So, aside from bitching about it being called the Chinese flu, where does anyone suggest we go from this point? Martial law? Forced incarceration forced testing and immediate execution and cremation of anyone found with the virus? The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few?

if Pres Trump DID follow that rule book, the left would rail against him being a dictator and a tyrant.

The fault is with the Chinese. When they knew they had a major problem with a flu spread instead of contacting the WHO and bringing in medical experts they arrested those who tried to warn about the flu. When the world finally found out about what was going on in Wuhan China they had a full blown crisis on their hands. Now we have a world wide flu pandemic.

How about this one step, if he closed the borders tight as a drum three weeks earlier than we actually did. And they still aren't that tight. I think that would have helped? Think the opposition would have had a fit?

Just think if it had worked we'd be laughing through this outbreak. Well everybody except the Democrats, they never laugh about anything. Anything positive anyway...

Trump can't even follow the "playbook" when it is stated right in front of him by his team at the podium. Every night is a shitshow of inability to comprehend.

If he would stick with his initial planned statement and stick with his "speakers", then get the shit out of dodge without going into his "shitshow" Q&As it would be fine. But his shitshow is just horrible and almost always contradictory to the rest of what you hear initially from him and the team. Just STFU when you are ahead. Compare that to Cuomo's daily Q&A. Night and day.

The way people are disregarding the so called 'stay at home' rules and lack of enforcement, I don't doubt we will be 'number one' very soon, and by quite a lot.

The way people are disregarding the so called 'stay at home' rules and lack of enforcement, I don't doubt we will be 'number one' very soon, and by quite a lot.

Yup... it's as if we need someone to step up and take action on a national scale.

Better chicken little than Poly ("soon it will just disappear") Anna when there are lives at stake.

                                          Has it disappeared, V?

Did "five soon go to zero?"

How the hell can someone of your apparent intelligence not see what has happened to every predictive statement Trump has made?

Dream? Hell, no... nightmare. But also no need for martial law, Steve... not yet anyway. Step One is to take control.... not issue another set of "guidelines" but take honest-to-God control of the levers of government and set a national standard... and that step is weeks overdue.

Every state should have shelter in place in effect.

Madis Gras and Spring Break should not have happened.

The idiot Mayor of NO said she had no clear guidance from Washington... duh... so ask someone else1

The idiot Gov in Florida announced that his big health safeguard was to request all passengers arriving on flights from NYC to self-quarantine for 14 days. This after allowing Spring Break to go on and then send kids back to their home states this past week.

The even bigger idiot Gov of Mississippi issued an order that local Mayors had to vacate any stay at home orders they had put in effect because "Mississippi will never be China!" How does that make sense?

Non-essential interstate travel has to end.

And most of all... States should not be competing with other states and the Feds for masks, ventilators... Fed should take the lead. Actually use the DPA to direct production. Do all the buying. Distribute on an anticipated need basis and deliver them with out consideration of which Gov kissed the Big O's ass the longest.

This ad hoc, laissez faire, backward-looking, "I banned travel from China" approach has to end now. A real president would have followed thru on his first action weeks ago. This dithering, blithering TV-President is providing no leadership whatsoever. A fucking grocery store business is running circles around him.

We just passed a $2+Trillion bill to sustain us for up to three months. If Trump pisses away this opportunity to starve this virus now, we will be in deep shit come the Fall... and another $4-trillion bill will be needed.
